Sure a semi-Group of Death, or is for Ghana and the US, but it's also a bloody BORING group tbh, in so far as USA, Ghana and Germany are all teams who've faced each other a number of times before, especially at recent World Cups? Very familiar teams to each other, very familiar Group opponents!

Yeap, 2010 WC, Germany and Ghana progressed from Group D, our group ofcourse, and Ghana and the US were paired in Group E at the 06 WC, Ghana progressing. The US and Germany have played each other in atleast a couple friendlies this decade, with a number of American players based or having played at one time, in Germany (Some even came up through the system, German born).

So, strong familiarity between those 3 sides. Familiar styles and all these sides can cope with each other's styles well, while not being greatly superior to it. Though depending on the day, Germany could break out big time, like they did against us, but we were quite poor that infamous evening, ofcourse.

Portugal really mix things up here though and with Germany they form a potential duopoly this group. It's Cristiano Ronaldo's time to shine, once more, but whether he will, we will have to wait and see. But no greater stage and no better teams to shine against, than the likes of Ghana and the US - both who he could run rings around.

Jurgen Klinnsman being the USMNT coach could be interesting for the Germany fixture too. Both the US and Ghana will be quite competitive for Germany, compared to some other sides of similar ilk and physicality wise, they size up well to the Germans, so that's why I think that, aswell with their prior records.

Ghana and the US won't just lay down, but same time it was only back in 2006 that the US finished bottom of their group, after Rosicky's Czech Republic taught them a lesson and Ghana also defeated them, in their final Group Game.

So in that regard, Ghana and the US could cancel each other out too.

I guess, COULD Ghana upset the apple cart here, defeating the US and scraping or surprising with results against the two favourites? Or it's just Germany and Portugal, straight passage, to the Round of 16?
