Ironically when they went on the attack in the 2nd half they looked like they were in with a shot. Parking the bus just played right into Arnies hands....
Im really going to have to get my foxtel streaming set-up for next round. No way Im going to be stuck watching the WSW bus vs the penniless roar. What do you expect them to do? They're effectively the equivalent of a NSW NPL2 level side playing against the runners up of the A-league. They were giving up 80% of possession to them. Playing an open game would've been suicide for them, so they played the expected tactic that all teams across the world play against teams that are several levels above them in terms of ability. I think Harnwell's tactics were perfectly on song: hold for the first 60 minutes or so then push against a side that will likely be tiring due to lack of match fitness. If their defender hadn't have fucked up in the first few minutes on a nothing chance then it could've been a very different story. The game was dire because Sydney had no real creativity on the pitch so they resorted to bombing the ball into the area or pinging from long distance and hoping for the best. If they have no idea how to break down a set defence that's their problem, it's not up to the much weaker side to lift their skirts and concede 5-6 goals whilst chasing a possible 1 or 2 just to make an A-league team and their fans feel better. +1

But just like it is not their responsibility to put on a show, it is not my responsibility to praise them just because they were NPL2 and plucky. They played for a draw, it was boring. They offered no counter attack for all that defending, it was boring.
They played the most negative brand of football from this years coverage and all of last years.
Im sorry Im not falling enough into line with the 'romance' , to qualify in having this view of the game for your liking.
Look, normally I agree with the 'negative football is bullshit' line, but given the disparity in quality between the two clubs I don't see what else they could've done to attempt to win. It really feels like you're just ragging on them because they did what they intended to do quite effectively and frustrated the hell out of SFC. Again, if you want to complain about anyone, why not SFC? They should've known this was what they were going to be faced with, but didn't seem to have any clear strategy for how to deal with it. That's more disappointing from my point of view.

I respect Harnwells tactics were probably correct in his goal of trying to progress. Despite all those things and the difference in levels, it still does not make the game any more enjoyable. This is bound to happen many times in the future Im sure as well. And if it does I will personally feel that the games were not enjoyable again. You are equating my displeasure with this game as an attack on Sorrento, thats like saying if you hate Sepp Blatter than you must hate football.

Not quite, fell to him after a scramble in the box and he hit it cleanly into the bottom corner past the keeper and a few defenders (if it's the goal I'm thinking of). That's the one. He was also denied by a goal line clearance and had another couple of good chances. He did very well for a competitive debut. Did OK. Needs to learn all the movements the team do of course. Will be a great contest between him and Bruce this season. Interesting to see who wins that contest. Who would be in front at the moment between the two? Babalj can actually kick a ball.
For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby

So the tips have been collected for the 2015 FFA Cup Round of 32, Match-Day 3! And there have been some extremely interesting maneuvers throughout this tightly contested competition as MD3 drew to a close. I, the great and honorable Heineken, have moved to the top of the ladder, racing past TSF, and JoyfulPenguin, giving them little love taps on the arse as I went, moving to 21 points. Now, before y'all jump on your keyboards and cry corruption, and cheating, and boo'ing harder than a racist at a Swans game - It's not my fault I was one of only two people to correctly guess the result of the Croydon-Queensland Lions match. I also happen to have correctly tipped the score, giving me a handy bonus point. I nearly wound up with 2 bonus points this round - having correctly tipped the result of the Rockdale City v Perth SC game to end 3-1 HOWEVER, I did say in my original posting of the MD3 tips, that it would come AET. Thus, I have not awarded myself an extra bonus point as the game was decided after 90 minutes. Happy Days.gif. It is still tightly contested in the top half of the ladder, with most people getting 3 out of 4 tips correct this matchday. As I mentioned earlier, if you didn't read it due to your potential blind fury of me taking top spot, I was only one of two people who correctly guessed the result of all 4 games, and to get a bonus point. Congratulations goes to our biggest 'mover and shaker', in 'FFACUP', one of the forum's newest posters (with only 5 posts, having joined shortly before kickoff of the Cup, making me think he's Frank Lowy, or David Gallop or somebody in diguise. ;p) who correctly tipped the results of all 4 games, and also correctly tipped a 3-1 victory to the mighty Rockdale-ilinden Suns. He moved up a whopping 9 points, and joins in on the fight for the top 3. Propping up the table are Iridium, Vanlassen, and Helloworld1992, who have failed to submit tips for the Matchdays 2, and 3, and by the looks of things stopped giving a fuck fairly early on. A warm welcome to new tippers SydneyCroatia58, and Cityslicker10. You guys probably won't win, but it's nice to see ya having a grand ol' crack at it anyway. If you haven't joined yet and you want to, I s'ppose you still can, but with 3 matchdays of the Ro32 already over, with one remaining, and the amount of games reducing after that, you're not in with a big shot of winning, unless you somehow send me a 5 figure sum of money into my bank account. 8-[ I've also received a couple of PMs from people asking if there's any prizes if they somehow manage to knock me off top spot. :-" Officially there aren't any prizes for winning, as this is not an official FourFourTwo competition, rather something I'm knocking up in my spare time (bit like the next door neighbour), however, I'm willing to give the winner a handful of Smarties, and a GameBoy colour. :) Remember, PM me your tips matchday by matchday. It's easier co-ordinate that way.

I would rather watch Sorrento taking it seriously than Balmain take it as a gimmick. I felt as if they weren't taking it seriously and lacked belief. Sorrento at least believed they had a chance and played like it too. You could see it in the manner in which Harnwell spoke about the match coming in and you could see the Perth Glory heart still in him. It had exceeded the cap a heart could have.
