Still can't for the life of me work out why you would put your showpiece cup final on a Wednesday night.

It won't be too long before Melbourne City has more season ticket holders than Sydney. Its above 11,000 now. The challenge has always been to get them to attend, City needs to be more consistent. That won't happen until JVS has gone

Well you must be right, considering our average attendances are generally around 6-8k higher than City.

Yes and no. The money is in the clubs bank. Of course showing up is important but the difference is they have paid the club, Gallops retirement fund and Cahill's #legacy trust.

+x+x+xOn this game and their match on Saturday, Victory are looking like a rough team, particularly when frustrated. I don't know if their hard tackling is an intentional tactic by Muscat to unsettle opposition playmakers or if it's just pure frustration but the refs might need to start being harsher before we see more serious injuries. Like broken collarbones? Haha, unlucky accident vs a team that sets new free kick records. Aha exactly!! Don't worry, Pala becomes incredibly irrational after Victory lose big games but is unable to see it that way. He'll be back to normal self taking pot shots hidden as truths in no time. Did anyone else as a neutral really like Cahill's post match interview? Talk about a wind up!! We can't just roll over coz Muscy is the coach etc. Hopefully referees (especially 4th officials) start realising Muscat has been abusing/influencing/intimidating refs for 11 odd years here and if they just splashed their face with some water for a sec would realise they would send off any other coach for doing what he does. Kenny gets 2 weeks for doing for 5 seconds what muscat does for 2 hours a week. An absolutely pathetic example to the juniors we supposedly want watching our games.

Agree, Heart/City haven't had too much trouble attracting season ticket holders but the big issue has been the highest churn rate in the League and in getting season ticket holders to turn up. Inconsistency has been the biggest problem, losing the unlovable games, low intensity performances. JVS is the root of this problem and not much will change until he is replaced with a decent coach. The final will be interesting, Sydney are defending well and JVS' 'just score more than the opponents' style is entertaining to watch but it doesn't win you finals. We will have to be defending much better than we have been to win that match City does have over 11,000 season ticket holders though

At SFC I think we'd rather get 15-20k each week with 11k members than be like City and have 15-20k members with 11k turning up each week.

Most City supporters that turn up each week would agree with you @bigblueman . Australia and particularly Melbourne is a very competitive sporting market where people are really spoilt for choice. I think that the Heart owners just didn't care and that it's taken CFG some time to discover this, the City teams will only get better and better. There's only one weak link in the chain now and his contract expires at the end of he season. It will take time to change the culture in the team from the old "if we win we win, if we lose we lose" culture but this change will have to happen before number reliably increase.

AAMI Park was half the price to hire as SFS. Obviously this is because they need less staff with the top tier closed. If the top tier is opened because of demand it'll be a good problem to have.
