Heidelberg v Perth Glory will be an alright fixture which i'll try and get to.
Blacktown City v Central Coast has a cupset on the cards too which could be a good match to watch.
At least South Melbourne have a home tie to test the waters with their crowd & fan base.
Not the best of draws tbh but still love the cup.

+x+xI hate the all A-League ties. We play one another enough already Yep, should be an open draw. I think the last few years there has been 9-10 NPL v AL games. If they seeded the AL teams they would get 10 NPL v AL in rd 32 and most likely 3 in r16 (or the 3 teams that go through would play eventually). So 13 in total. These are the games the fans and players want. Even an open draw is better. FFA rig it so an NPL team make the semi, but they rig it so they have to play an AL team. if the draw was open there is a low but still a chance that an NPL could be drawn against NPL teams all the way to the final. This has been removed.

Can't see us getting much of a crowd against edgeworth, especially if we go head to head with Heidelberg v Perth and Hume v bentleigh, the neutrals will be drawn to those matches.

This has been removed. I think I could handle 2 all HAL tie’s in the R32. At worst it would mean: -x2 all HAL ties. X2 teams go through and x2 knocked out -x6 HAL v NPL sides. Say at worst x6 HAL sides all win (should be open draw so if HAL sides play one another tough luck but that’s another debate) -x8 NPL v NPL matches. X8 NPL sides remain Round of 16 at worst then has x8 NPL sides left & x8 A-League sides. Now the odds on them all being NPL v A-League sides are virtually impossible. Probability suggests that at least 2-3 fixtures would be all NPL or A-League ties. The other games would still be great for theatre and tv. That then means a few should filter through to the last 8 which is an achievement on it’s own. If they can legitimately go any further then that’s a fantastic outcome but NPL clubs shouldn’t really be babied into the last 4 via manipulated draws. The above would be an improvement on what we currently have.

The above would be an improvement on what we currently have. There are certainly many ways to do it. Because FFA micromanage so much they keep things seperate when in football its all connected. I had hoped they would incorporate the FFA Cup into the FTA tv deal. We had FFA say this "We considered this at length, and one of the conversations we had was actually moving round one to be one week later. "But when you go through the pros and cons of that and the situation is if, as we hope, Australia qualify and those qualifying rounds are not required, then there's a week of dead air in respect to the NRL and AFL is finished and the A-League is not present. "Our want is not to be waiting for those qualifiers. "But if they do happen, make it a mammoth football week where we've got Australia playing international qualifying followed by the opening round."

There was an initial 3 year deal for FFA Cup with Foxtel, Westfield, Harvey Norman and NAB iirc. I dont ever remember a new deal being announced for this year and the future which is odd. Westfiled keep the name though, so ..... good for them.
Why dont Foxtel play FFA Cup games on the weekend after the NRL & AFL GFs? (or the weekend the internationals are on)
Its not that hard to work out. I can understand this year, as it is the first year on ten/one and they would want to make an impact. We can pretty much count on AFL women or AFLX starting the weekend after the grnadfinal in the future I would imagine. It will get clogged up and wont remain "dead air."
So I still like the idea of regional round of 64. Scrap the NPL playoffs winner place because that isnt even fair due to no home and away legs. At the moment the there are 31 games in the FFA Cup. A round of 64 pushes it up to 63 games. If you had an open draw at this stage you may double your costs. The point is regional round doesnt carry th travel costs. This is this year's dates

You could just push everything back so the 1/4 finals are the international break round. Ideally it would be round of 16 so you can have several matches on the Saturday night, where available, to go around the grounds and have updates. You wouldnt even need that high quality lighting for NPL v NPL as it would just be showing goals. It works now. Round of 32 could then be open. You would have already had 10 AlL v NPL and could end up with 23 or so over the Cup. the current system wont work if expansion ever happens. It also gives teams extra incentive at the r128 games as they know if they have a team in their region they have a chance of playing them. This wont work though because Foxtel will crash if it doesnt have A-League the first weekend after the NRL and AFL finals.......

Once again we got FNQ Heat FC, before we got them in 2014 in the round of 32 when we won. Hopefully we pass and go to the round of 16 with the other big clubs, would still love to get South Melbourne.

Carly Adno, The Daily Telegraph IN a true David versus Goliath tie, Sydney FC will travel to the Top End for their FFA Cup clash against Darwin Rovers FC — two weeks after hosting English giants Arsenal. The A-League champions, who were beaten by Melbourne City in the final of last season’s FFA Cup, will come up against a team that was only established in 2014. But this is Darwin’s second appearance in the FFA Cup after they were beaten 6-0 by Brisbane Strikers last season at Darwin Football Stadium, where they famously arrived for the game in a stretch hummer. While the Sky Blues will escape the winter chill for their trip up north, their city rivals the Western Sydney Wanderers will remain in Sydney. Tony Popovic’s side were drawn against Wellington Phoenix away, but due to FFA Cup stipulations the match won’t be played in Wellington. “I was looking forward to going to Wellington in the middle of winter,” Wanderers defender Robbie Cornthwaite said. “We’ve started the preseason pretty slowly the last few weeks. Home FFA Cup Tie For Warriors- By Andrew Cooling

 The Olympia FC Warriors have been drawn at home and will face APIA Leichhardt Tigers in the Round of 32 of the Westfield FFA Cup. The Tigers play in the NPL New South Wales and have been enjoying a strong season, sitting in second place on the table in the highly regarded competition. The Warriors have been handed a home fixture for the cup tie which will be played at KGV, with a date to be decided early next week. Possible match days are Tuesday and Wednesday nights between July 25 and August 9th. The Warriors will become the third side to represent Tasmania in the competition following South Hobart and Devonport in years prior. They have already enjoyed recent success in national competition when they defeated South Melbourne in the 2015 NPL Finals series. That was a moment that Olympia President George Mamacas said had been a key motivator for the side to return to. “
”It’s absolutely exciting, when we last won the Lakoseljac Cup there was no FFA Cup. We did have the experience of playing on the national stage by virtue of the 2015 title and we wanted to get back there and do it again, so we’re very pleased to be in it. “
Speaking at Warriors function where the players and supporters of the club gathered to watch the draw he said he was looking forward to the opportunity the Cup presented.
“We want to a huge crowd out there to support the club, and not just the club but Tasmanian Football in general. Clearly this is now the national stage and we would like everyone to get on board.”
“Devonport were absolutely fantastic last season and we would like to emulate that success in the FFA Cup with the view of going 1 step further.”
His coach Kenny Weston may not have gotten his pre-draw wish of an A-League opposition but said he was excited for the challenge ahead.
“We want to create history, history for the club and for Tasmania. That was my objective was to get on the national stage and have that type of challenge and to have that kind of success.”
“You never go into anything half hearted, you go aiming to get as far as you can or win it. Otherwise whats the point? That’s my mindset and it should be the mindset of the players.”
Club captain Jake Vandermey was also excited for the challenge and the opportunity to play in the competition for the first time.
“We’re excited for the game, we haven’t played a team from NSW in my time at the club so its exciting to test ourselves against a top quality side.”
“Playing in the FFA Cup means everything, it brings a lot of people to the club, it helps get ourselves out there. Obviously we want to play well for ourselves and for Tassie.
”The Warriors star Czech Striker, Jakub Sklenar said he was familiar with the side from his time in Sydney and was expecting a tough game from them. “
From what I remember, they had a quality squad, with some good players with overseas experience, so I think it’s going to be a good game.”
“All of us, all the players, all the coaching staff, the members, we are all really excited. It’s great promotion for the club and Tasmanian football. I’m expecting a good
crowd and it will be a good quality game.”
 Sklenar is familar with the opposition from his time in Sydney- Solstice Photography As for the Warriors opposition, this will be the Tigers first appearance in the Round of 32 of the Westfield FFA Cup and they only just snuck in, scoring a winner in the 126th minute of their Round 7 game against SD Raiders to qualify. They are a club with Italian heritage and have been among the strongest sides in NSW over the past few seasons. They have been in tremendous form this season, winning 12 of their 16 league games to sit in second place, firmly in the midst of the title race and just 3 points behind leaders Blacktown. In addition to that they have made their way through to the final of the Waratah Cup, defeating Blacktown 3-0 in the Semi Final on Wednesday night in an ominous warning to the Warriors. They posses a strong squad with a number of former A-League players contracted to the club and with the NSW NPL regarded as one of, if not the strongest of the state leagues, they should pose a tough match up for the Warriors.  APIA players celebrate after their 126th minute winner saw them sneak into the Round of 32.
