+x+xif this draw wasnt more evident that it's rigged then i do not know what is. The FFA do not want to fork out on travel costs and it's as simple as that. Bulleen Lions vs Moreland Zebras - VIC Magpies Crusaders vs Coomera Colts - QLD St George vs Sydney United - NSW Mt Druitt Rangers vs Manly United - NSW Maitland vs CCM - (1 hr Drive) such a disappointing draw. It does seem strange, but it seems fairly hard to rig a draw to that extent though. Their reasoning for an engineered draw to help ensure NPL clubs have more of a chance of going deeper was sound in the early years but I think this should now change. only way to get rid of this, is an open draw for ALL teams. once Western United and Macarthur come into the competition it will be 12 HAL and 20 NPL clubs, perhaps open it up to 64 teams, but that's another discussion.
Not a Phase, Not a Trend, SYDNEY UNITED till the END!

Maybe with 12 sides they can say top 6 from prev season automatically make R32. The bottom 6 have to qualify via round of 64 to earn the right to be in it.

The good
Maintland gets a home fixture against the Mariners. Well done for getting this organised, should be a very good occasion.
Knights v AU in Sunshine. Should be a really spicy tie for the Reds to spoil a buoyant crowd.
The bad
Blundstone Arena against NPL opposition...yuck! I guess this highlights the issue with appropriate venues in Tasmania.
Controversial but I don’t like that Victory are playing Jets are AAMI. I get it, it’s their home but it really doesn’t entice members to want to go. It would’ve been good to mix it up and play somewhere like Heidelberg where a 5k + crowd has the joint rocking. The whole love affair with the ffa cup is the community grounds and experiencing something different than usual. Just my 2cents though

So, Cooma forced to play in Canberra. I wonder if Capital Football made that decision for them. Would be interesting to see in the future where games would be played (based on some performances, highly doubtful) if Wagga City Wanderers or Riverina Rhinos were to win the ACT Federation Cup, A’s Botha Wagga and Griffith have grounds I think on par with Deakin Stadium

I'm surprised Maitland vs CCM wasn't chosen as a main live game.

Olympic FC forced to play at Perry Park is fucking stupid considering they aren't even playing an A-League club. They should be playing at Goodwin Park, considering they have played Knights there before in the cup. Speaking of Knights, why the fuck are Knights and MV playing at home on the same night? That is beyond stupidity. At least Maitland got sorted out, it'll be a great day for them.

Just my 2cents though I think the renovation of Olympic Village will have started by then. I think it really shows the pointlessness of having A-League v A-League ties in the cup. Obviously an away game at a small ground is the attraction, but even an NPL team having a big away match at AAMI Park against the big boys has a better ring to it too, in my opinion.

+xSeriously considering a day trip to Tassie for South Hobart v Marconi. Not to be a downer but I don't think it's worth bothering spending significant money to go to games at ovals. Would wait and see if the Vuck get through and see what's thrown up in the next round.

I'll go to any away trip outside of WA for the Ro16 for the Vuck, but we won't talk about how that went last time lol

Otherwise there would plenty of pubs in town that are options before taking an uber/taxi/bus over. PM me if you want any other suggestions. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Waterfront+Hotel/@-42.8759265,147.3696839,17z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0xaa6ddf8e5883c9f5:0x86cec2a4d957ff3e!8m2!3d-42.8742125!4d147.3658752

I've never been to that side of the Derwent in Hobart at all (other than going through from the airport) so it would be interesting. This is what the stadium looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaRunxpRRWkIt's a small oval with a brand new main stand, I'll be interested to see how it holds up to a football match.

Where are they playing the Cooma game? At night the temperature would be approaching zero down there, would make it interesting.
