Was trying to figure out the best way to schedule the 4 matches to try and give all teams a decent break. Perth is a bit difficult as they're scheduled to play Sunday every week except just before the last match day where Victory have a Monday game.

It only really works like this IMO:
14/10 PB v CCM
21/10 SFC v AU
28/10 PG v MV
4/11 BG v AC

Really if Fox allow it, moving the PG v MV game to the Wednesday (29/10) would be ideal as they'll have to fly back on the 26th after playing us.

I really hope the state teams play in the first week. making them wait a whole extra month would be tough. particularly for BG & AC as their seasons finished quite a while ago now. Whereas palm beach still have the NPL finals going on atm.

Palm beach game was really enjoyable. Springvale came to defend and hit on the counter but it didnt drag the game down. Maybe I was watching it through rose tinted glasses though as it was just great being back at the stadium watching a game with mates and beers.

Palmy players were getting slower as the second half wore on but their schedule has been hectic.

Stoked that they drew CCM. Looking foward to another game.

I posted a similar post last night, I agree state league clubs should be playing as early as possible while the Perth vs Melbourne matchup is tough unless Cup matches can be moved from tuesdays and/or A Leageu matches can be also be moved (whether by a day or to later in the season)

Of course we have no idea whether the FFA boffins scheduling these things care much about players recovery and similar logistics and given the Rd of 32/All Stars scheduling ballsup earlier in the comp I personally don't expect too much

Was just thinking, even at 20 bucks a ticket, SU58 must gave made a tidy sum last night. An 8000ish crowd means about $160k. That's before you count all the Cepavi sales, and the VB David Gallop was drinking.

Read somewhere that St Albans made $40,000 last night as well. =d>

All in all this is a great event has been a huge success. You imagine the future sponsorship dosh that this will give the clubs. Also the quality injected into the state leagues. Very excited for the future.

Hoping for stadia upgrades too. Many clubs need it.

Fuck you're a boring cunt. You may have noticed that the section was basically sold out. Clearly there was enough demand for the few hundred $40 tickets.

As for the last 3 bays, they were eventually opened and filled up. I'm assuming that either:
a) the club was only going to open them if the crowd got over a certain number
b) the bays were open the whole time but nobody bothered venturing that far.

Sydney Cro, I've posted a complimentary comment about a good performance from you blokes last night.

9th post down on page 253 in this thread.

Fair play to Sydney United, they did some good things against SFC. They were much better than when they played in Tassie.=d>

So...
7 teams came from FNSW, 0 left.
1 team came from FFSA, 1 left.

Just thought I'd remind people.

I was just trying to find a fairer way to allot slots for next season using a league table system or a modified UEFA Country Coefficient, but there was no way NSW wouldn't come out with any more than one or two slots no matter which method I tried, which they'd never let fly. Happy to share the results if anyone is interested.

I've been working on a similar system, that combines a FFA Cup performance based quota with preferably the participation based quota (I don't have these participation numbers so have used the number of FFA affiliated open-age stand alone mens clubs in each federation).
These are the allocations that I end up with at the moment, however Victoria, South Australia and Queensland can still improve their numbers and the other federations will decrease their quotas as a result.
NSW 5 teams (5.31)
Vic 5 teams (4.89)
Qld 4 teams (4.39)
SA 2 teams (2.10)
WA 1 team (1.47)
NNSW 1 team (1.32)
ACT 1 team (0.98)
TAS 1 team (0.42)
NT 1 team (0.13)

Then performance data could be averaged over a few years as the comp continues.

Five teams for VIC and NSW? Mine capped it at 4 for the highest ranked three feds, don't want a repeat of those 2nd and 3rd chance playoffs that happened in NSW this year, completely antithetical to a Cup comp.

May I ask what your source for club numbers is, and by what method you combined it with performance data to get your numbers? I think a mix of an overall count of senior clubs with performance data is fair, at least until three or so seasons in when we have better averaged out results to work with.

Drunken Microsoft excel = rage closing spreadsheets without saving, so I'll have to do what I had again to post it up.

I think this would be the end game, but dont mind them easing the cup into being with this format.
Prob 2 more seasons like this then go random.

Yeah who knows what the FFA would do. Probably try and give Victory and Sydney the best possible chance to go through...

As for the 2 NPL teams playing first, if you switch the first and last matchdays it wont be so bad. CCM have had a pretty cruisey draw up until now so let them have one less day break ;)

Well yes. Many predicted this ages ago. Crowds would have been a lot bigger if this was done earlier. Season 2/3.

Those 3 bays are closed due to structural issues. SydCro58 pointed out that the stands are 'sinking' A lot easier and cheaper to close off 3 bays than repair that part of the stadium, especially when SU58 haven't gotten a crowd like that in 10+ years.

Well after charging $40 for some tickets I reckon they can afford to fix some stuff up ;)

And people will continue to buy McDonalds meals for $10 if they're asked to pay it. It doesn't mean it's good value for either the person buying it or society as a whole, it just means the McDonalds corporation are scum fucks.

Yep, in future it should just be completely random from R32 and then just tie them up from then on.

I think this would be the end game, but dont mind them easing the cup into being with this format.
Prob 2 more seasons like this then go random.

Then it'll actually be an achievement to get to the Semi's

Right now it's like the swimming world records

Yeah all of this this, reasonable to ease the comp in (nobody knew for sure how MA and HAL clubs would compete) but hopefully next season or the one after it can be randomised from Ro32 onwards.

You still havent worked out the concept of supply & demand, have you?

I'll ask you again - how else would the club decide who to give the best seats in the house to? Lottery? First in best dressed? A game of bullrush?

There was 11,000 $10/20 seats available to those who didnt want to pay a premium. You make it sound like everyone was forced to pay $40 and thousands were priced out of attending the game.

One more time, less than 5% of overall capacity was priced at $40. 5%. Let that sink in.

Maybe a 44 team 1st Round, with a-league teams joining in 2nd Round might be more palatable.

I pretty much just defined supply and demand for you mate.

BTW: If you haven't realised I'm just being a massive fucking troll because you keep replying to the exact same thing, then I'll give you a free hugs voucher for when you figure it out.

Either of these is the way to go, that way spots can be given to regional areas where qualifying through what are pretty much city cup comps doesn't need to be achieved.
