Broxham, burns and celeski should not be mentioned in conjunction with the national team. I am still yet to see Holland play a game in which he was even above average (at any level). One of the more over-rated players ever to pull on a NT jersey IMO. Similar view of Sarota - interesting that there are many people raving about him - I wonder how many minutes they've actually seen him play.

Tonight is their chance, Oar and Sarota starting against Sainsbury in his debut at 4:45. Edited by paladisious: 7/2/2014 12:51:37 AM

We'll here's the thing.....
Holland should go. He's been playing regularly (apparently he's started 19 matches for Austria Wien) at a good level.
I'd also take Brattan as the 4th choice DM, as he's played well this season and is a quality passer (something that'll be important for Ange).

Hope you enjoy that scotch, cos this thread needs locking?

Sarota may be named as a RM but that's definitely not where he plays. Utrecht plays 4 in midfield but its very lobsided towards the left with Oar playing as LM. Sarota pretty much plays as a ride-sided CM as he barely goes beyond the width of the 18-yard box.

Really want to see Wilkshire-Jedinak given a shot as a DM pairing. I think Wilkshire still has something to offer after all the only player we have who gets more game time in a better league is Jedinak. According to who scored his strengths are:
*Holding onto the ball *Passing *Aerial Duels
Weaknesses: *Tackling and Crossing
Don't think crossing would be a problem as a DM and with Jedinak next to him tackiing would be less of a problem as well. Wilkshire has played DM before at Twente and with Dynamo so I think it does need some consideration. I know Wilkshire hasn't been great of late but who would be in a backline of Mckay-Neil-Ognovski

For me one of the most important things Ange has to figure out going into the world cup is figuring out how to get the best out of Jedinak either at CB or CDM. Personally I think he should be at CDM as it is his best position and he is doing an amazing job there for Crystal palace this season. I don't think it would be much of a stretch to put him in the top 10 defensive mids in the Prem this season. we sometimes ignoring him in Aussies abroud because he rarely does anything surprising but has always played well. He always starts for palace and never gets subbed (has played every minute of the prem this season).
For me our best midfield 3 is Cahill - Jedi - Milligan all playing pretty deep with Jedi sitting right in front of the back four and just getting the ball out to the wings or the other mids. Ange probably won't want to play a flat 3 in midfield so Cahill could go in front of the other two but still very deep and not that second striker role he played for us recently. I think is we are able to get this core right we can at least keep in tough in all three games and a win and a draw gives you a chance to go through, a win and two draw guarantees or close to you guarantees to go through I think.
In terms of other mids I would say Holland is good but too defensive to play with Jedi. McKay could replace Milligan but I would say Milligan is more settled in the national team lineup at the moment. I also wouldn't mind Paartalu given another shot in the national team. CSL is a decent and improving league and he was played for the whole season so I gues he did something right and he can bring a lot more size compared to many of our other options. With oar on set pieces with Kennedy, Jedi, Cahill, Paartalu we have an ok chance of fumbling the ball over the line also.

Valeri is the best option behind Jedinak and Milligan. He is a more complete player than the other options.

He captains an EPL team, whilst our national captain is struggling to get a contract to sit on the bench of a Championship teams. It's so obvious Jedinak should be Socceroos captain.

If Mooy has a good ACL along with WSW, I wouldn't rule him out.He is young and has great ball control. As much as i like Brattan, his size works against him in big games, where he gets just can't hold the ball.Maybe he will get bigger and stronger ,but at this time Jedinak,Milligan,Sarota and Mooy would be better options. All have had international experience.
