Rat has moved to Heidelberg as a senior technical director, the Heidelberg coach George katsakis is of course his cousin. No word on who will take over at northcote, the word around during summer was that their pre season was shambolic, let some decent senior players go and signed players at the last minute who hadn't even done a pre season, not sure to what extent that's true but the results aren't lying.

Pretty much everyone had them as their prime relegation candidate. Lost a bunch of great players (Mbarga, Obradovic, Theodoridis, Eliopolous), signed nobodies.

What would be deemed a good crowd for the South game on Sunday? I'm intrigued to what kind of turn out they get.

South fans to enter stadium via gate 2 - the traditional stand.
Victory fans to enter via gate 1 - new grand stand side.
They could be expecting anything as low as 1200 to as high as 4000-5000...it's really hard to say. Will probably be somewhere in between.

Word is they're expecting 2k which is about right... anything over 4 would be mental. The stands only hold 5.5k so the place would be rocking since they've sectioned off behind the goals.

The seating capacity is 5.5k but the main grandstand has plenty of standing room in front of the corporate areas and at the front of the stand, you could fit about 7k without opening the behind the goals.

Draws in the two matches between the top four teams in NPLV2 West tonight set up a tasty top of the table clash next week, and they're both regional teams, North Geelong and Ballarat Red Devils.
Ballarat with six wins in a row before tonight's draw and North Geelong undefeated in eleven in all comps sets this up as a huge one!

The standard although was pretty shocking thought Deng stood up for Pascoe Vale and young Miano showed composure when given a chance. Epifano for South was dangerous at times i thought

The standard although was pretty shocking thought Deng stood up for Pascoe Vale and young Miano showed composure when given a chance. Epifano for South was dangerous at times i thought In terms of quality it was the worst game I've seen this season, Pascoe vales ability to remain compact and run both ways was very impressive, taught us a lesson in work rate, epifano might look good at times but if you watch him closely when he loses the ball he just throws his arms up in the air and doesn't chase. Deng I agree was great and van schip was all class holding the ball up. That's pretty much the blueprint for beating south just stack the back line and move it quickly on the counter, we struggle when we can't get in behind teams and our usual dangerous wing play was easily negated...granted it didn't help that we wasted about 15 corners and every decent crossing situation. Expect Pascoe vale to make a run and finish close to the playoff positions.

We tend to capitulate when things arent going for us. The scoreline was justified and could have been more. With luke adams away with the nz nt our undersized defensive stocks are getting exposed. Very worried about the upcoming cup game on wednesday night. Despite being on top of the npl we arent a very good side and i think we have progressively gone backwards since 2014. The transfer window which opens today will be very important for us. We need at least 3-4 players to bring us up to scratch again. We have our next 5 league games at home mostly against the bottom teams but thats no guarantee considering we lost to pascoe vale at home recently. Interesting times ahead.
Btw heidelberg are a cracking team and its unfortunate for them that they wont be in the ffa cup. 3-4 a league level players in that team. Just goes to show the cup doesnt really represent the best of the npl.

Didn't want to take risks before the cup game maybe? A home game in the cup has got to be top priority for a club like south going for an a-league spot

If we get past tomorrow night we will need to beat bentleigh away to quality, on current form this is incredibly unlikely.

How many of those first team players are going to bust a gut to get back into a game after going down 2-0? With nothing else on midweek it would be far more worrying, but with the 10x more important game on a few days later it seems like they might've just had a rest. You've also already beaten Bentleigh this season and Heidelberg by even more than they beat you. Based on form though I agree Bentleigh should be favourite for that game (should you make it) but I'm just really looking forward to it.

We beat bentleigh 2-1, they were reduced to 10 men in the 50th minute, despite that they played us off the park a man down, our goalkeeper saved 2 penalties late in that game. Our keeper is the reason we are on top. We need to sneak through tomorrow night and then hit the transfer window hard.
