AUSSIE U-TURN Former Hearts star Ryan Stevenson dramatically pulls out of his move to Peninsula Strikers HOURS before he was due to fly to AustraliaHe was set to start a new life Down Under with the semi-pro side who play in the Victorian State League Division 2 South-east By Mark Walker 25th April 2017, 9:30 am Updated: 25th April 2017, 10:00 am RYAN STEVENSON has dramatically pulled out of his move to Australian club Peninsula Strikers – just HOURS before he was due to board a flight Down Under. The ex-Hearts midfielder stunned football last month when he announced he was quitting the game after becoming disillusioned with it. NEWS GROUP NEWSPAPERS LTD Ryan Stevenson has performed a dramatic U-turnHis last appearance was an emergency goalkeeper for last senior club Raith Rovers away at his former team Ayr United.
Keep up to date with ALL the latest news, transfers and goals from Scottish football plus fixtures, results and live match commentary
But he then made a surprise comeback at Troon Juniors, before announcing he was set to start a new life in Australia with the semi-pro side who play in the Victorian State League Division 2 South-east. However, he’s had another change of heart because of family reasons hours before he was due to arrive in Oz.
And Peninsula Strikers – who had arranged a work visa and gained international clearance for him – were amazed at the u-turn. Manager Craig Lewis said: “I received a text from Ryan just hours before he was due to board a flight to Australia saying that he wouldn’t be coming here as it was too big a move away from his two young sons. “He has pulled out of the move. It’s completely off and to say I am devastated is an understatement.” Former Hearts star Ryan Stevenson dramatically pulls out of his move to Peninsula Strikers HOURS before he was due to fly to Australia – The Scottish Sun

+xNow that clubs have been sorted out how about we start naming which players NPLV & NPLV 1 clubs have signed for the season. I know South Melbourne has signed Leigh Minopolous from Werribee City, Jason Saldaris & Milos Lujic. Not a bad trio to have. Edited by Joffa: 111/09/2014 09:34:50 PM worked hard to make sure they signed them

+x+x+x+xWas it really 27k views? Think that's almost on par with the final round of A league games lol.Crowd of just over a thousand is shit house, I said all along being fixtured away from home for the first 2 months of the season will knock the stuffing out of us. Poor start to the season didn't help either. It's also noticeable that year on year knights seem to bring less fans to our ground, probably one of the worst knights turnouts that I can remember yesterday, Heidelberg bring heaps more now. Crowd must have been on the same side as the camera because it looked like about 300. Watch the vid on South Melb youtube. Has the other side. Ah gotcha! ;) <3

The camera always faces the side of the ground that's closed off. The main stand was about a third full, fits around 3k, so I'd say 1k odd was the attendance.
Wonder if we can increase that next Sunday on the back of a few wins.

+x+x+x+x+xWhat's the situation with the Trifiro that plays for Nuna? Like how does he play in Melbourne & coach at SD Raiders in Sydney at same time? Kids rego money means they can afford to fly him in just for matches. Get your hand off it. So you believe the package of flights, accommodation and match payments comes in at less than $2K a week? what accom? he'd be flying in & out on the same day wouldn't he? Sometimes stays a few days to get a training session in.

+x+xMelbourne Knights 2-2 Heidelberg United Bentleigh Greens 3-0 Bulleen Lions Kenny's goals were quality. Not sure if he has his Aus citizenship by now, if he does, A-League clubs must be looking at him for next season. Zadkovich has a better chance

today I had a return email from NPL & Community competitions department RE - Playing NPL & Community competition fixtures against Rule 1.4 protection of important fixtures – any Hyundai A-League Finals Series fixtures in Melbourne on the same day,
Hi Brenton
Thank you for your email.
The NPL fixture was created and released publically in December of 2016, taking into many different factors and variables such as competition season lengths, council ground allocations, FFA Cup qualifying matches, inclusion of catch-up rounds, NPL Finals, reducing the time gap for NPL playoff and so forth.
This demonstrates the various complexities with creating the NPL fixture. Furthermore, at the time of creating the fixture, we were not in a position to understand which Hyundai A-League teams would qualify for Hyundai A-League finals let alone the details of finals fixture involving either Melbourne Victory or Melbourne City.
Whilst we continue to support both Melbourne based Hyundai A-League clubs, it would be irresponsible of FFV to not schedule any fixtures across all levels of NPL & community competitions for an entire weekend given the constraints listed above.
Nevertheless, when the Hyundai A-League finals are confirmed, where possible we are more than willing to work with those clubs who may wish to amend their fixtures to avoid clashing with Hyundai A-League finals.
Regards Nathan

+xIn Shepparton for the week so heading down to Goulburn Valley Suns vs Melbourne City, should be good. On a more depressing note the Goulburn Valley Suns never paid Dan Heffernan (Former Mariners Striker) for his games :/ I'll See you there... Yeah look, my mate who used to play for them really disliked the whole way everything was run, Now he's playing for Tatura, in the Bendigo amateur soccer league and is enjoying it so much more. You only had to watch the FFA cup match which they got knocked out in to understand why he didn't want to play so much.
