Doesn't OP state that we do a redraft after the group stage??

The 8 teams that progress will each nominate ONE player who was either a free agent, or a member of a fantasy team that has been eliminated. After we have 8 players nominated, I will assign a random word to each of them, and we will then choose a word each to be rewarded with one of the players from the pool (first in, first served). Essentially a random draw but a little bit more entertaining.

To remind everyone:

Tie breaking criteria will go in the following order FOR GROUPS:
A) Whichever team has scored the most total goals
B) Whichever team has best goal difference
C) Whichever team has the better head to head record

For KO rounds: Tie breaking criteria will go in the following order:
A) Whichever team has scored the most total goals in the entire tournament progresses
B) Whichever team has players with the most ASSISTS in that round progresses
C) Whichever team has players with the most assists in the entire tournament progresses
D) If all of that is even, the forum can go fuck itself.

Just to re-iterate what happens in the KO Stage:

Once the 8 teams that have made it through are decided, each of the 8 teams has to nominate ONE player. You have 12-16 hours to do this. Once these 8 players have been nominated, I will put them through a random generator and assign a word to each of them. I will then post the list of words.

At this point the 8 teams have to pick a word from the list. The four group winners have a 4 hour window where they can pick before the group runner ups. After the 4 hours its open for all 8. You should have about 24 hours to pick a word before the first R16 game kicks off.

After the R16 the process is the same except you nominate two players, and the same after quarter finals. The semi finals and final are all part of the same round in this comp.

Obviously if it's a player from a team who is still in contention to qualify don't nominate yet - but if it's a player from a team who mathematically can't make it or a player who hasn't been taken feel free to post it up now. Gives us less late stress later.

Why would I nominate a player from a country that has been knocked out of the cup?
