Yes you did and the store was split into Beta and VHS. Frustrating if there was a movie you wanted and they had it in Beta but not VHS or vice versa.

Also there was that shitful moment when you got home and some prick hadn't rewound the tape.

They introduced a fee after a while for that.

Mate of mines family purchased a Beta video recorder back in the day...supposedly better quality than VHS

Who remembers when you had to pay for a membership at a video library...and they weren't cheap either

Haha nah Ballarat is fine, I grew up on the SA/VIC border, Naracoorte, Pinnaroo, Peebinga all the same. The annoying thing about Pinnaroo was we couldn't even pick up stations across the border because Murrayville didn't (and still doesn't) get any terrestrial television! This little town in Victoria had to get a deal to get satelite telly just to pick up Imparja from the Territory.

same here.....but i guess i get quite a few officers form the armed forces passing through, and it's great the way they conduct themselves, very professional and dignified......

i don't arc up if i am not addressed as MR....usually it's only the first time we meet that it occurs then its all first name basis...

i have 4 children ranging from 17 to 28 and the amount of times people have mentioned to me that they are fine young people who are well mannered and respectful makes my day........

My experience happened in reverse.

I never experienced a rainforest until I got married and my wife pumped out a couple of kids. There are farms near us that get their grass slashed more often.

Most regional places around SA were like that though. Some friends in Mt Gambier got a big antenna just to pick up the channels from across the border :lol:
