Back on topic, this is a very interesting read from Nate Silver on Trump's chances in the general election and the possibility that 2016 could be a realigning year.

both the Nate Silver fivethirtyeight website and npr do good podcasts reviewing and previewing the various primaries.

Planet America on ABC is good too. They are on Friday, but have also been doing late Sunday night shows updating things.

Earlier in this thread I posted a link to the John Oliver segment ripping Donald Trump, or should I say... Donald Drumpf!

Whether you like Trump or not, the segment is very funny.

I was watching the last Republican debate in Texas.

How are any of those guys electable? Trump is as eccentric as it gets. Cruz and Rubio seem more concerned with how Trump got his money than any of his policies.

Once again I think I expect too much from politicians but how on earth can you elect someone that uses personal attacks (I was particularly disappointed with constant references to how Trump got his money) instead of debating actual policy?

The democrats must be licking their lips watching these morons belittle each other on the world stage like petulant children.

Easy. People will vote for any candidate that speaks to them. Trump will win the republican nom due to the fact he speaks to the anti mexican, anti muslim, anti abortion groups. And he will win the presidency and crash and burn like abott did

You probably picked the worst debate to watch if you don't like personal attacks!

This debate was the first where Rubio & Cruz focussed on Trump. Previously they had tiptoed around him to try and sway his supporters when he "inevitably" burned out.

But given this has not happened, its all guns blazing.

Trump has been launching personal attacks from day one, so this was really return fire.

Also, its hard to attack Trump policies, because he doesn't really have any other than building a wall. He has made a bunch of vague, at times contradictory, statements. It's very hard to pin him down to a specific policy.

Except that in a presidential system (as opposed to a parliamentary one) there is no way for him to crash and burn before his term is up.

If he gets in, he won't be gone in a year like Abbott. He will be there for 4 years!

I know that he will crash and burn and the yanks will be stuck with him. Sadly americans haven't learnt from dubya. They want someone who full of bravado and says things to sppeal to them but yet when ither policies come about they don't want to hear it

American and its citizens are unfortunately a mass of people that are part of a never ending cycle of commercial consumerism full of buzzwords and inch thick thinking.

Look no further than SUPER TOOZDAY!11!!~

I just expect people who intend on leading one of the most influential countries on the planet to be above such things.

If your best strategy is belittling someone and trying to make them look entitled, you're cooked as far as I'm concerned.

Trump seems very good at winding the other two up. The debate I watched appeared to work and at the end of the day it wasn't Trump who looked worse for it.
