Crowd was spot on imo, thought it would be much less until everyone flooded in after 30 minutes. Not to labour the point, but: - eastern side was pretty packed (= usual western side turnout for a roar game) - southern stand was well attended (= usual north/home end/Den for a roar game) - fair smattering on the western side (= usual eastern stand turnout for roar) - pretty empty north end (but only really a bit less than the usual southern end for roar) All in all, I saw basically a mirror image of roar games, where we regularly see attendances in the order of 15k. But i acknowledge that organisers probably have no reason to lie.

Not bad at all, and definitely on track for the target half million with bigger Socceroos and finals games to come. Extremely good considering the horrible weather. I was expecting crowds < 10 000

Based on the ticketek website, a few observations:
- JAPAN v PALESTINE (Newcastle): Category 1 tickets down to single seats only. I would assume ticket sales are already over the 15k mark, hopefully get a 20k crowd?
- OMAN v AUSTRALIA (Sydney): Cat 3 sold out. Cat 2 selling on second level. Cat 1 selling on top level. Appears that apart from a few tickets in the active support and gold wig sections, the lower bowl is basically full. Given Cat 1 is selling top level, I assume the second level is also mainly full (as most tickets on that level are Cat 1). My guess would be ticket sales are currently around the 50k mark. Although I think an 80k plus crowd is off the cards (8pm Tuesday night.....), hopeful of a 60 - 65k crowd.
- IRAQ v JAPAN (Brisbane): Cat 1 down to single seats only, Japan Active support sold out. This should be a good/entertaining game and with a lot of Australians travelling into Brissy for the Aus game the next night it should get a good turnout. Hopefully 25k+..?
- SOCCEROOS v STH KOREA (Brisbane): Apart from some Korea Active Support tickets and restricted view seats, everything else is either sold out or single seats. Anticipating a sell out.
- SEMI FINAL 2 (Newcastle): Cat 3 sold out (although there are not many seats in Cat 3). Keeping an eye on this one, could end up being Aus v Japan as a semi final.
- FINAL (Sydney): I thought sales would have been better for this game. Cat 1 selling on 2nd level, Cat 2 and 3 on bottom level.

Ultimately, a good overall attendance will likely require Australia playing deep into the tournament, along with Sth Korea and Iran, and China getting to at least the QFs. And to a lesser extent Japan maybe.
So far, so good.

with the pricing of tickets except socceroos matches really no excuse for not having bigger crowds. I bought Sydney venue pack for $233 cat c tickets for all matches including the final 7 in total. time for people to support our first tournament as hosts and show the AFC AND FIFA we are serious contenders for any hosting rights either the Asian cup or the world cup

I'll try and keep this thread updated with all the crowds. If you spot an official number, just post in here.
Organizers aiming for 500,000 through the gates over the 32 games.
