A few notes for all you fair weather fans who were too pussy to go.
The pitch was a cow paddock but the day before when they were prepping it the grass was 20-30cm in places, wtf? The training pitch was a beautiful artificial surface, much better than the game pitch.
Australians got gouged on the ticket prices again, locals paid 70c and we paid $2. We met the the stadium manager the day before and he took us around for the grand tour, change rooms, media box, his office, the works. His office was the red area that looked like the media booth at Old Trafford cricket ground and we had tea with him up there after the game. There was a small area behind the Bangldeshi goal area in the first half that was a big cage, he agreed to let us sit there rather than the allocated VIP section and had it blocked off for us. We got to watch the match sitting up on top of a 4m fence - best seats ever. A few guys fell off at various stages as they were drinking from coke bottles that were about 50% booze that we bought into the stadium.
Security was the best I have seen anywhere, easily the best out of the qualifying round. Friendly but not overpowering. One of the boys ran out and did the Timmy celebration on the corner flag and they just laughed it off and let him come back to us. A Dutch FIFA official came over to lecture us but he was quickly told to fuck off.
The locals were great, very friendly, one Australian got pick pocketed. Lack of bars and local girls but the hotel staff were able to provide any alcohol on request with about 30 min delivery time. Awesome away day, bring on North Korea.

Was he part of your brigade?
