In year 2025....
16 team comp. Known as Westfield A-league. Lowy would've passed away by then. All teams will be same except for Jets. Who will be taken over as Newcastle Red bulls. Tinkler gone by then. City will be a top four team, bringing in big marquees. Average crowds for them will be 17000. MV crowds will remain high average of 25 000. Victory will have had 8 league titles by then.
Wanderers will go through terrible period for next five years before overhaul of club to italian focus. Parramatta stadium upgrade to 30,000. average crowds will be 24 000. They will be mid-table club but produce the best young talent, given their location.
Sydney will be unchanged. Top 5 side, average crowds of 22,000. Occasional bursts followed by periods of utter shit.
Mariners will be on brink of death. average crowds of 8000 and dying a slow death languishing in the bottom of the league. First team relegated.
All young Australians under 23 will be exempt from the cap. There will also be cap exemptions for players who have been at a club for 3 years.
Best teams from each NPL state comp will converge in Champions league like comp to determine who gets promoted. One team will be promoted. Both the relegated and promoted team will get a monetary boost to consolidate.
Extra teams will come from Sunshine coast, Canberra, Wollongong, Townsville, Southern Sydney, Geelong. These teams will have average crowds of about 8000.
New TV deal. Share between Foxtel and 7 who will show two matches per week, one delayed by an hour. 7 will get all finals matches live as well as foxtel.
The crowning moment will be when Victory host the champions league final at Etihad in 2020.

LEAGUE 1. Will there still be an A-League? yes If No;
2. Will it still be sponsored by Hyundai, and known as the "Hyundai A-League"? I'm hopeful, but i don't think it would be, motor industry would have changed significantly by then, will there even be a Hyundai.
3. How many teams will be in the A-League? expansion will be: 2017: 11. Southern Sydney franchise 12. Brisbane Strikers
2020: 13. South-Western Sydney 14. either new melbourne franchise or South Melbourne is they can properly brand themselves to the melbourne market by removing their ethnic image.
2023: 15. auckland city 16. 4th victorian. either a new melbourne franchise or geelong or suburban melbourne.
so therefore 16 teams. providing us with 4 melbourne, 4 sydney, 2 regional nsw, 2 new zealand, 2 brisbane + perth, adelaide. with 2nd perth and adelaide in the pipeline.
4. Will all of the current teams still be in the A-League? i hope so. there is doubts about central coast mariners. potentially they could fold and be replaced by a real north sydney a-league club. return of the northern spirit.
5. Where will the new teams (if any) come from? 5a. Will they be completely new teams or existing state league teams taking a step up? they will be a combination of new franchises in melbourne and sydney, along with the rebirth of former nsl clubs such as south melbourne, brisbane strikers, maybe northern spirit and wollongong wolves.
6. Between 2015 and 2025, will there be any new teams which come and then disappear again (like NQF and GCU)? if gallop has his way there will not be. the only potential risk is south-west sydney which however could be a success. by avoiding regional team, i think the expansion plan will be safe.
7. Will there be a national 2nd division? If yes;
no there will not be, but it will be in the talks and will be in the pipeline. 7a. Will there be promotion & relegation between the A-League & the 2nd division?
not but we will be talking about introducing it within the next 10 years.
8. Who will have been the most famous player to have played in the A-League? (subjective question of course, but ATM you could argue for ADP, Yorke, Romario, Kewell, Fowler, etc.)
the most famous player to play in the a-league is yet to be uncovered.
9. Will there still be a salary cap? no, if we are to be able to compete in asia and internationally, then we don't need one, we need big name clubs with big wage bills.
10. Will we have seen any more current teams "rebrand" their name? (eg: Queensland Roar -> Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Heart -> Melbourne City FC) cant imagine any existing clubs change their names. all the current names are good.
11. Will there still be a finals competition, or will we go to a "first past the post" system most other countries use? yes, finals works in australia so we will ocntinue with it.
12. How will most people watch games when they are not attending? (Pay TV, FTA TV, Streaming, some other as yet unknown technology) technology will make streaming services more available.
13. What will be the average crowd size across the season? (To the nearest 1000, currently 13,000) i'd say 18k, it would make us bigger than the nrl who will continue to decline from 15,000 to around 12,000.
14. What will be the record winning margin in a match? (currently 7 goals, Adelaide United against both NQF & NJ) once the salary cap scraps we will start seeing some big results. 10-0
15. What will be the record number of goals scored in a match (Currently 9 goals, Adelaide United 8-1 vs NQF & CCM vs SFC 4-5 & CCM vs SFC 7-2) 12 goals, 9-3 win.
16. What will be the least number of points accumulated by a team in a season? (Currently 6 points in 21 matches, NZK) somewhere are 10 once the salary cap is scrapped.
17. What will be the largest number of bookings in a single match? (Currently 12 - AU vs PG, AU vs MH, AU vs FC Bunyodkor) 15
18. What will be the largest number of red cards in a single match? (Currently 3 - CCM vs MV, PG vs SFC, AU vs FC Bunyodkor) 4
19. Who will be the A-League's all time top goalscorer? (Currently Archie Thompson on 89, Shane Smeltz on 85, Besart Berisha on 63) shane smeltz to keep it going.
20. What is the most number of A-League teams a player will have played for? (currently 6, Isaka Cernak) 8 isaka cernak
21. What will be the longest undefeated streak (Currently Brisbane Roar on 36 matches) a new superpower will hit 37.
22. What will be the lowest position on the ladder that the A-League Grand Final winner finished? (Currently 2nd; SFC in 05/06, NJ in 07/08, BR in 11/12 & CCM in 12/13) given competitiveness i think it will remain top 4.
CUP 23. How many times will an A-League side be knocked out by a state league team? (Currently once in one season). we need more of it, the more we see the better the quality of the league.
24. Will a state league team have made the final of the FFA Cup? given the way ffa run it, will happen sooner or later.
25. Will a state league team have actually won the FFA Cup? and when they do they deserve to be promoted.
26. What will be the record lowest position on the League ladder that that season's FFA cup winner finishes? (Currently 3rd place for this season's winners) (Excluding State League winners, if any) cant imagine it being too low. would be a minimum of 8.
ACL 27. How many times will an Australian team have made the final of the ACL? (currently 2) we should hopefully have it 2 more times
28. How many times will an Australian team have won the ACL? (currently 1) hopefully 1 more time, we're still way behind japan.
29. Will we have seen 2 Australian teams meet in the ACL? as soon as the salary cap is gone and we have more teams and hence have more teams qualify then it could happen.
30. What will the "success rate" of Australian teams making the 2nd round of the ACL be? (Currently a dismal 29%) should be 60%
GENERAL 31. Which team will have won the most silverware? Western Sydney Wanderers

Q32 - Will the A-League still be in played the summer months? With average summer daytime maximums increasing a great deal of thought will have to go into game time scheduling. Playing games in midsummer in Perth at 5.00 pm will become very problematic.

Well leaving aside the climate groupthink.... ;) If there ever is to be a fully integrated, pyramid league structure with all the pro rel bells and whistles....the league would need to be played in a calendar year season. It would be an absolute mess having some tiers in summer, the others in winter. Football being a year round sport could actually be played summer, autumn, winter, spring....late jan kickoff to the current ffa cup final in november. All levels of the game played around the same time ....from juniors to their heroes in the top flight....now thats a real 'whole of football' league structure....

Would probably be closer to the mark than anything else suggested in here

NO THE ASIAN FOOTBALL CONFEDERATION WON'T ALLOW IT
Association protection is removed at the quarter final stage, so if 2 A-League teams can make it that far, they could be drawn against each other.

LEAGUE 1. Will there still be an A-League? Yes 1a. Why not? 1b. Will it have been replaced by another national domestic competition, or will the top level in Australia be State League? HAL will be top league
2. Will it still be sponsored by Hyundai, and known as the "Hyundai A-League"? Probably or a Chinese car company
3. How many teams will be in the A-League? 14
4. Will all of the current teams still be in the A-League? Yes
5. Where will the new teams (if any) come from? Sydney 3&4, Melbourne 3 and Brisbane 2. Other places keep dreaming 5a. Will they be completely new teams or existing state league teams taking a step up? New in Sydney maybe Melbourne 3 and Brisbane 2 will be existing teams
6. Between 2015 and 2025, will there be any new teams which come and then disappear again (like NQF and GCU)? Unlikely too many lessons learned from NQF and GCU
7. Will there be a national 2nd division? Yes the NPL If yes; 7a. Will there be promotion & relegation between the A-League & the 2nd division? No its been specifically ruled out for 20 years in the WOFP and there are binding contracts to ensure same. Any speculation to the contrary is a complete waste of time...and somehow keeps happening??? If yes; 7aa. Will the promotion/relegation be automatic, or will 2nd division teams have the option of choosing not to promote? 7ab. Will promotion/relegation be dependent soley on ladder position, or will there be other criteria (stadium, crowds, geography, etc)
8. Who will have been the most famous player to have played in the A-League? (subjective question of course, but ATM you could argue for ADP, Yorke, Romario, Kewell, Fowler, etc.) ADP, we have learned a lot about the value of marquees on and off the field now
9. Will there still be a salary cap? Yes
10. Will we have seen any more current teams "rebrand" their name? (eg: Queensland Roar -> Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Heart -> Melbourne City FC) Possibly, NJ and CCM spring to mind
11. Will there still be a finals competition, or will we go to a "first past the post" system most other countries use? Finals football is entrenched in Australia and makes far too much money to drop it, end of story.
12. How will most people watch games when they are not attending? (Pay TV, FTA TV, Streaming, some other as yet unknown technology) PayTV
13. What will be the average crowd size across the season? (To the nearest 1000, currently 13,000) 16,000
14. What will be the record winning margin in a match? (currently 7 goals, Adelaide United against both NQF & NJ) 7 goals. Predict defences to tighten up
15. What will be the record number of goals scored in a match (Currently 9 goals, Adelaide United 8-1 vs NQF & CCM vs SFC 4-5 & CCM vs SFC 7-2) nine looks good, but double figures beckon...
16. What will be the least number of points accumulated by a team in a season? (Currently 6 points in 21 matches, NZK) 6
17. What will be the largest number of bookings in a single match? (Currently 12 - AU vs PG, AU vs MH, AU vs FC Bunyodkor) 12
18. What will be the largest number of red cards in a single match? (Currently 3 - CCM vs MV, PG vs SFC, AU vs FC Bunyodkor) 3
19. Who will be the A-League's all time top goalscorer? (Currently Archie Thompson on 89, Shane Smeltz on 85, Besart Berisha on 63) Probably Smeltz, Archie may not get a gig next year. SS probably has another two years in him
20. What is the most number of A-League teams a player will have played for? (currently 6, Isaka Cernak) Isaka is still young, he can maybe get to 10
21. What will be the longest undefeated streak (Currently Brisbane Roar on 36 matches)36
22. What will be the lowest position on the ladder that the A-League Grand Final winner finished? (Currently 2nd; SFC in 05/06, NJ in 07/08, BR in 11/12 & CCM in 12/13)2nd
CUP 23. How many times will an A-League side be knocked out by a state league team? (Currently once in one season).ten times
24. Will a state league team have made the final of the FFA Cup?no
25. Will a state league team have actually won the FFA Cup?no
26. What will be the record lowest position on the League ladder that that season's FFA cup winner finishes? (Currently 3rd place for this season's winners) (Excluding State League winners, if any)10th
ACL 27. How many times will an Australian team have made the final of the ACL? (currently 2)6
28. How many times will an Australian team have won the ACL? (currently 1)3
29. Will we have seen 2 Australian teams meet in the ACL?yes
30. What will the "success rate" of Australian teams making the 2nd round of the ACL be? (Currently a dismal 29%)50%
GENERAL 31. Which team will have won the most silverware?MV. Even though the league is salary capped they are the team who has best resource set, in terms of distance to travel to play games, ability to afford marquees and better coaching staff, more sponsors and fans. Good luck to them, someone has to have the best resource set but its up to them to harness them effectively.
How many more pointless threads will there be about promotion and relegation. Lots! How many more times will Blacka and the Parrot bag the salary cap. Lots & Lots!!
WC How many times will the Socceroos make the knock out rounds. Once and we will make the SF and go out on a dubious penalty. Again!!!

Interesting a lot of people are picking 14 teams.
It's only 10 years away, that's not much time to increase the size of the comp by 40%.

Big prediction - "In and out Expansion": the NPL competition will gain an A- league license in the same vein as the FFA Cup spot this is not P and R but a purely a one season shot for the winning club
the NPL championship will be expanded to 10 with a 2*5 group stage to include a defending champ spot and the NT NPL comp

Lomborg, the environmental economist without degrees in either biology, geology, any other earth science nor economics and who has been laughed out of countless unversities? The bloke is a neocon stooge of the highest order who is only qualified to be a politician - via his political science degree. You should be more sceptical when it comes to who you take scientific information from, cause if it's coming from a bloke that Tony Abbott personally picked out, you're probably the furthest away fro real science that you can possibly get.
