From our humble beginnings of launching the forums back in April 2007, we have slowly grown and nurtured into what we have today; a great community full of passionate individuals with a love for football in this country and abroad.
To celebrate this fact, I am pleased to announce the first ever FourFourTwo Forum meet!
What does this mean? In short, for the first time ever, we will organise a public meeting of forum members where we can all meet and mingle outside of the forums. In addition, some FourFourTwo staff will also make an appearance for you to meet and chat with.
Where? When? This is where you all come in. Discuss and try to organise a good time/place for the majority of you to meet up (I know there's exams, etc, that are coming up now). One thing that has already been decided, however, is that this first meet will be occuring in Sydney. This doesn't mean that the other states aren't invited of course, you're still free to attend if you can make the trip.
Interested? Sound awesome? Can't wait? Want to confirm that you're coming right now regardless of date?! Then tell us! The success of this relies on all of YOU. The more people that attend, the greater the party and the greater the fun!
ATTENDEES The Web Guy (< Late Feb) aftomanGT (< Feb 10, no Australia Day Weekend) martyB (possibly < Xmas)

I suggest some time in January. Because it's too late for me to get any time off work this year and I won't have school then and I'd love to meet some of you out there. Those of us who know eachother outside of the forums (Guest, marty, imnofreak of the regulards) have talked about this before and think it's a good idea. Or is that not soon enough for you all? Is there a socceroo game in sydney in january?

I don't think the Asian Cup qualifiers have been released. But I think they are indeed in Jan/Feb.
I suggest Socceroo games because it gives more incentive for people to come, rather than an A-League fixture. Plus we won't be at each other's throats before and after the game
ps I will only come if that G:Lover person shows up. I heard she is a trouble maker and a terrible photographer

Is it strictly 18+? That would leave...Me, Guest, Marty, glenn and Erebus out of the regulars. Hardly seems worth it. We'd have to make it underage too. Over 18 would rule me out too, and I know this whole thing is really just for everyone to meet me so they can say they did when im famous.. :P Heres an idea:everyone should wear something akin to their avatars to reduce confusion.
eg. Erebus comes dressed as spartan, mk wears a foward-tied doo-rag, and amfc paints an arsenal emblem on his stomach and a melbourne logo on his back and continually spins around all day.

This doesn't seem like an 'official' thing though. I think it's more just TWG's suggestion that we all meet up - so that masked kung-fu midgets can grab and bag us and throw us into a van for his latest experiment.

I told you not to tell anyone about the midgets! ... *cough*.... Yes, this was my suggestion. However, I made this suggestion to the FourFourTwo staff, and a part of that suggestion was for them to attend as well. They agreed that it's all around a top idea so personally I would classify this as an "official" thing. But it's upto you guys to make this a great event. It'll be bad for all those that attend if only 4 people turn up, or if some attendees do certain actions that ruin it for others. In short, the more interest generated in this thread, the more it will prove to the FFT guys how into the idea you guys are, and the better the event will be.

haha Whoa. How come you posted twice inside 30 seconds? Nobody else is allowed to do that! Mod special i guess? Yes I know your serious, and it depends on the amount of tickets we get and IF we get box seats, and if the box is private etc etc But there is a slight chance. And your a nice bloke and a regular so you would be one that come along if it was to happen :) Although you DID ban me once....
See Guest, theyr sucking up already! Laughing at my jokes that arent even funny....[-( hahaha

Quote:How come you posted twice inside 30 seconds? For effect... Since we'll have interstate guests, we should make it a weekend: so if the next Sydney Socceroos match is on a weekend we can have a match the day before/after. Quote:The first meets already been confirmed Sydney Makes sense I guess considering most of us 'regulars' are from Sydney, and the FFT staff aren't going to fly interstate to meet afromanGT and mk0825. Trust me, it would be fantastic to meet these guys. Im not ruling it out all together, i want to see which date you guys decide on and then maybe ill make a trip down with my bro and cousin.

Queensland always gets left out of football related "do's". I am already going to melbourne in jan to watch cricket so cant do two trips in one month....failing economy, possibility of new job around then as well, Sydney smells like my dogs arse.
Glenn and i will just go to the pub. Any other queenslanders are welcome

Last game v China we got seats in 'The Legends Room' where they had a massive reunion, cap presentation, talk by Ben Buckley, Frank Lowy, Chinese Football federation president (via a dodgytranslator) people walking around with food and drink trays.. ahhh. That was nice. I sat next to Sasho Petrovski. haha. if your bothered: http://www.anzstadium.com.au/Tours/VirtualTours.aspxthe 2nd one, Legends room.

Socceroo world cup qualifier dates have been released: http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/86587,sydney-gets-two-roo-games.aspxFor those lazy people: - 15 October 2008, Australia v Qatar, Brisbane - 19 November 2008, Bahrain v Australia, Bahrain - 11 February 2009, Japan v Australia, Tokyo - 1 April 2009, Australia v Uzbekistan, Sydney - 6 June 2009, Qatar v Australia, Doha - 10 June 2009, Australia v Bahrain, Sydney - 17 June 2009, Australia v Japan, Melbourne So I don't think the 1 April, or 10 June are very good dates for us. Will have to wait to see when they release the Asian Cup qualifiers I think.

Regarding the Asian Cup qualifying, according the almighty wiki (and not the horrible official Qatar site): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification#Group_B 14-01-2009 Australia v Kuwait 28-01-2009 Indonesia v Australia 14-11-2009 Australia v Oman 18-11-2009 Oman v Australia 06-01-2010 Kuwait v Australia 03-03-2010 Australia v Indonesia So the only possible option would be the first game against Kuwait. Hopefully that's in Sydney....

I have a feeling those Asian Cup qualifiers will be in Perth and Adelaide.
Could always do it for the Japan/Australia game. Yes its away, but 442 usually do a thing at Star City anyway. And it will be at a reasonable time of night rather than 2am like the other away games.
Just throwing that idea out there.
edit: The first 2 games of the Asian Cup qualifiers are in Jan. If they are not in Sydney (don't think they will be), 442 surely will be doing their shindig in Star City. So again, those are options too, for the Kuwait or Indonesian games.

Japan would be a better game to watch at Star City as opposed to Kuwait or Indonesia.
The thing with that idea though... it would kill the idea of under 18s attending, which we don't want, unless you can manage to get under 18s in somehow?

As long as they don't enter the gaming floor, they are permitted on the site. If they're in a function room or in one of the bars (where they must ALL be eating a meal of some description) then there won't be a problem.

At the risk of sounding a bit Gary Glitter, how many under 18s are we talking about who want to come to this thing? I'm thinking the Japan away game at Star City might be the go but obviously there's the age issue there... and the strippers we've got organised as a thanks don't do underage....

You will have to check with Star City themselves. I'm sure u18s will be allowed in the Sports Bar right since there is a bistro thingy right there aswell. but there is going to be a shitload of people there for that game, so I think 442 should hire out a function room complete with those little snack nibbly things.

You obviously haven't been to the right internet gatherings. We're not meeting up with some crazy chic into sado-masochistic foreplay (although I'm not going to question people's personal lives).
We all know each other enough, and it's going to be invite only (no crazy gate crashers), and like martyB said, it's all about acting normal and mature.
I for one am looking forward to it, and will definitely be there.

If you haven't noticed mk, TWG only shows up when admin/mod stuff comes up.
and  @ Stars Wars convention, thinking thats actually insulting. Kinda lame attempt at an insult if you ask me considering I've never been to one before. Don't see how being a fan of a franchise instantly makes you Comic Book Guy or worse.

My neighbours will be away all January, and may want me to house-sit... they've a barbie, pool, rec room, HD/HiFi entertainment gizmos etc. MAY (if I do end up house-sitting) be able to invite SOME of yous over for a BBQ and drinks....

 at marty and then afros reply.
Surely this is a plot for some dodgey teenage comedy flick right?
"Man invites over football fans that he has never met to watch an international game to some house he is house-sitting. Good times and adventures are had by all until something goes drastically wrong..."

(I could always sneak into deportivo's car since apparently he lives near me )
edit: I went to Uni as a mature age student, so I was there to do what I signed up to do. So no partying for me. The last month of last year was different though :P And in a couple weeks I have back to back birthdays, bucks nights and weddings, new years etc.
January is detox for me

I'll have to convince them with some sort of incentive... their daughter lives in NZ and may come back with her family for the gig.

It'd only be the regular regulars, and FFT staff if they want I guess. Should find out in a week or so whether I get the gig or not.
And if ^that^ did happen, there'd be some serious suspensions being dished out. :P

I for one am looking forward to it, and will definitely be there. Excited by the concept and would like to attend but INVITE only!!! ,so how do you get an invite if a decsion is finally made????

Well it wouldn't be an ACTUAL invite, but I'm sure we'll come up with a proper guest list if it was to be at a venue, and if your name isn't on there, GTFO!

One at a time :)
Speaking of which, can everyone who is interested in going let us know of your availabilities (roughly) over the next few months, so we can try to work out a date where it suits the majority.
I'll probably update the OP with attendees (and availabilities) so people who are undecided can easily check the current progress.
So for me, I'm free anytime up until end of February.

So for me, I'm free anytime up until end of February. I can't do Australia Day weekend, That's chinese new year, so I'll probably be working. I'm planning to be up in sydney some time before the 10th of feb coz a mate is joining the army and we want to catch up before he has to go and play GI all over the place. So I'm relatively flexible and I'll try and get the two to coincide. Quote:Green Mamba is by far the best ice cream, Pink Panther is also a close second. I managed to read about 4 pages of this thread before I started to feel very f*cking old due to all the 13 and 14 year olds I regularly appear to engage in footballing debate. Bit sad really, I need to get a life.
Second result of giving up after 4 pages... Any word of a Melbourne meet?

Tried before when the Juve v MVFC game was on, nobody was interested.
If there's interest now I'm sure we could organise something at one of the irish pubs.

How bout a kick about in Melbourne? Good place opposite Souhtbank-ish, grass in front of the river, always see people playing football there...and only 100 meters from The Waterside Hotel (and The Deck, mad place to go)

well, Irish pubs aren't overpriced. They're usually pretty reasonable because they buy their beer whole-sale. $7 for a pint of Blonde is a fair price. And an Irish pub will definately be showing the game.
