U.S. counter-terror officials have launched an investigation into how ISIS got so many of those identical Toyota pickup trucks which they use in their convoys.

The fact is the Toyotas were supplied by the US government to the Al Nusra Front as ‘non-lethal aid’ then ‘acquired’ by ISIS.

Al Nusra Front is literally Al Qaeda.

Public Radio International – an American public radio outlet – also documented a specific shipment of Toyotas by the U.S. State Department in 2014:

Recently, when the US State Department resumed sending non-lethal aid to Syrian rebels, the delivery list included 43 Toyota trucks.

Hiluxes were on the Free Syrian Army’s wish list. Oubai Shahbander, a Washington-based advisor to the Syrian National Coalition, is a fan of the truck.

“Specific equipment like the Toyota Hiluxes are what we refer to as force enablers for the moderate opposition forces on the ground,” he adds. Shahbander says the US-supplied pickups will be delivering troops and supplies into battle. Some of the fleet will even become battlefield weapons.

The Syrian conflict started the day Assad signed a deal to construct a pipeline to bring Iranian gas through Iraq and Syria then into Europe.
US and its gulf allies did not want competition as Qatar wanted to bring Qatari gas into the lucrative European market to compete with the Russians. The Russians have been late to the game as they didnt need competition either however they also dont want their ally Syria overtaken by Islamic State.

Gas supply is plentiful, but demand is also huge. There's hundreds of billions to be made and Russia is getting most of it from Europe.

They've been bombing Syrian infrastructure and using ISIS as an excuse. If they were bombing ISIS they'd be defeating ISIS. Only the Russians have turned the war in favour of Syria since their intervention.

You'll have to ask Obama why that deal was made as most in congress were against it. This deal was done several years after the Syrian war broke out, so the Syrian war was likely used as leverage to get it done.

One senior administration official said the CIA has found that the Kurds directly coordinated with Russian forces recently during an attack on the headquarters of the CIA-backed Syrian opposition in the town of Marea. The official said the U.S. intelligence is that Kurdish troops laid down tracer fire on the building just before Russian bombers destroyed it. Another U.S. official disputed this account.
