*Note that players on this list are players who consistently seem to stand out each weekend with appearances, goals, cleans sheets, assists and general exciting play. It's also to keep personal tabs on players with the potential for an A-League contract. (The list only shows players from first tier clubs from all NPL's around Australia.) Great thread. I don't watch enough of the other States to really comment, but there are some great young players throughout the Queensland NPL. One player who I thought was great a couple of years ago was Reuben Way when he played for Olympic FC. He played well in a trial game against Brisbane Roar and got a trial but nothing came of it. He ended up moving down to Heidelberg United in the VIC NPL, and as far as I know he's still there. I haven't heard much about him lately though.

Great to see him get a chance. I was going to quote the exact thing shorter! Yeah it's just so good to see that not only NPL clubs are closing in on A-League standard as you've found with the TPO rankings but also the player standard is becoming closer and closer. Kenny Athiu (MV) - two year deal from Heidelberg United Dylan Wenzell-Halls (BR) - one year deal from Western Pride FC Joe Gauci (CCM) - scholarship deal from West Torrens Birkalla Matt Millar (CCM) - one year deal from South Melbourne FC Jordan Murray (CCM) - one year deal from APIA Leichardt Josh MacDonald (CCM) - one year deal from Wollongong Wolves Kaine Sheppard (NJ) - one year deal from Avondale FC Rashid Mahazi (WSW) - one year deal from Moreland Zebras NPL2 Max Burgess (WEL) - one year deal from Sydney Olympic Reuben Way (WEL) - one year deal from Heidelberg United Which makes it 10 NPL based players to go on to be involved with AL clubs this season.

Great work mate, nice list.
I can only speak on NPLV, as I don't follow the others as close, but a lot of those players you've mentioned I think will trial with A-League clubs before the start of next season.
Epifano almost certainly if he wants it, Jawadi is one who I think clubs will look at as he is still young, whilst players such as Millar, Richardson and Archibald may return to A-League clubs, I don't know if they will all go back to Melbourne City. I think Archibald was playing at Fortuna Dusseldorf in Germany before coming back, not sure if his deal with Bentleigh is a loan or permanent.
I'm very surprised Milos Lujic wasn't looked at before this A-League season. He was at Wellington for a short period but nothing come of it. Same with Andreas Govas, quality player surprised he hasn't been looked at. I hope their chances haven't gone - but I think if they're going to be looked it this off season may be their last chances.

I would keep an eye out for Jacob Eliopoulos from Port Melbourne for the U23s list, he's looked immense in the games that I've seen this year and last year at Northcote. Sami Nour at Bulleen is killing it at the moment and I'm sure there'd be A-League clubs looking at him to figure out if he's a flash in the pan or the real deal.

He's gone to Cyprus now, apparently has a deal lined up with APOEL. Braedyn Crowley has been a class above in the 2nd half of this season at Northcote and I'd be very surprised if Melbourne City don't sign him

Thanks heaps bud, I'm pretty sure Archibald's deal is a permanent one, and I think Lujic could make it but he doesn't want to make the step up due to his wage being a teacher and also probably being payed as South's best player, so I reckon fair enough.

A couple of changes for the NSW NPL, Idriss El Hafiane - 23 in May Toufic Alameddine - 22 in June
Daniel Petkovski - 23 in June - Rockdale City Suns
Great thread by the way, so much young talent out there ready and willing to take the step up if given a chance.

Cheers for the feedback guys, just did a little more research and found out that a former Feyenoord academy player in Ryan Go is playing at Northcote, plays at left back mostly, and is only 20 years old. Although he may not be doing to well considering where Northcote are placed on the NPLV standings.

Another Queensland player with a lot of potential who moved to the VIC NPL is Matt Thurtell. He signed for Beentleigh Greens for the 2015 season, but unfortunately a torn ACL ruled him out for most of the season. It's only been the last couple of weeks that he's had some game time off the bench, and I look forward to him playing regularly again. http://www.cornerflag.com.au/the-long-road-behind-for-matt-thurtell/

Here is the rough position grouping sorry if I made any obvious mistakes
One to fix up that I noticed, Millar has been playing as a right winger for South rather than as a defender. Also, for MV, I don't think Vakirtzis, Lambert or Waring are first-choice starting players although I haven't seen their last two games Edited by Cromulent: 30/3/2016 10:09:29 AM

And Lambert is only 16 and was smashing it in the seniors for Richmond last year in NPL 2. Cheers though!!

Quote:From Bonnyrigg's end
I expect great things from these up & coming youngsters, most of them are unknown to most here but woudnt surprise me a bit if their names appeared in the near future.
Luke Ivanovic (U18s) - One of the best forwards in the youth league competition Alexander Zarafetas (U18s & U20s) - Very young and constantly improving, could make firsts very soon Jake Douglas (U20s/First Grade) - Good forward, most likely Robbie Younis successor Martin Lo (U20s/First Grade) - Former WSW player most will know, kid is an absoulte freak on the ball although physically small. Nikola Krljar (U20s/First Grade) - Great player, work horse, kid reminds me of Mile Jedinak Taylor Mcdonald (U20s/First Grade) - Mad his debut out of no where in the 2015 NSWPL Grand Final vs Blacktown City, was probably the youngest on the field and had a huge game, will be hearing his name i hope. Hayden Tucker (U20s/First Grade) - One of the best prospects going around, him and his partner Guse carried the U18s to a finals berth and both huge prospects. Michael Guse (U20s/First Grade) - A huge prospect, unforunately picked up a huge injury, broken leg i believe in the first friendly of the season against Mt Druitt, hopefully he comes back, still young.
Seniors - Aaron Peterson - About 23 or 24, one of the best forwards in the league and absolute gem, gets better by the season and how he hasnt been picked up as a squadie atleast is beyond me. David Vrankovic - 22 years of age, broke into starting 11 back in 2011 and has been a rock ever since, has had stints at Melbourne Heart and played abit in Vietnam. Ray Miller - 24/25 i believe, maybe even younger. One of the best players in the compeititon, how he hasnt been picked up is shocking. Yuta Kokado - Japanese import, 22 years of age and one of Bonnyriggs best players, impressed in a friendly against Guanzghou A&FC and they wanted to sign him but coudnt due to foreigner limit. Has been essential to the clubs title wins. If becomes an Australian citizen will hopefully make it in the A-League one day. Another player than has made it recently at A-League level was Dylan Fox at Wellington, played at the club for 2 seasons and killed it and that form has continued. Like the Rockdale supporter said, plenty of players in NSW who could make the step up, just given time and guidance.

Look out for a player called Mark Moric - the Son of Ante Moric former Socceroo. He captains the Australian under 16 squad. Another product of Sydney United.

Another product of Sydney United. He's not with us anymore unfortunately. Gone to the AIS/NTC along with Mirza Muratovic Is that the Centre of Excellence?? heard Muratovic is quite exciting as well

Ds98,
I think he came to us last year or the year before, not too sure.
Another name to the list will be Amar Adilovic from our U18s/U20s, fantastic technical player with a bright future. Trialled in Bosnia i believe over the break.

As the transfer window approaches for the A-League and the current NPL transfer window, who do you guys think will be moving on from their clubs?
For some A-League teams I think these blokes are fit enough and up to the task for it. Considering Jai Ingham walked into Melbourne Victory with an assurance as well as Ryan Kitto from the NPL SA surely the gap can't be to far to cross?
New South Wales
- Could Chris Payne make a return to the Central Coast Mariners? been killing it in the NSW NPL - Could Chris Payne and Panni Nikas be a package for the Central Coast Mariners? both working together and forming a pretty formidable partnership for Sydney United. - Patrick Antelmi to finally get a professional contract at the mariners?
- Toufic Alameddine to the Jets or Wanderers?
Victoria
- Nick Krousoratis, Nick Epifano to Melbourne City? - Troy Ruthven, Dusan Bosnjak to the Jets? - Sami Nour to the Victory
Queensland NPL
- Roman Hoffman back to the Roar?
Just some pretty speculative predictions what are others that you've heard or would like to see??

Adam Parkhouse from Manly absolutely tore shreds against us (Sutherland) a couple weeks ago, only looks young but a great player albeit from the 1 game I've seen him play.

Central Coast Mariners were just playing in an exhibition match against some men.
As the team sheets suggested the following were Trialling:
-Luke Giverin from Manly (who scored 1) - Brendan Cholakian from Manly - Adam Parkhouse to from Manly
could potentially see those guys in the Mariners team as squaddies.

Agree, good on the ball and one v ones. Watched him during the waratah cup final, one of manlys better performers. Won't be surprised CCM taking him on by the look of getting a run last night, I think was a gosford local.

Some of the Vic boys may know this, however I've just read an article on Jake Nakic and basically how his promising career was derailed by injuries. I actually studied with him but had no idea he played the game. He was quiet a tall lad, could anyone else eloborate on how good he was?
Seems like mvfc has had bad runs with promising strikers like Semi Sevic.

His knee is so fucked that he only starrted playing the game again properly last year. He was involved with mv up until the mehms era . But his younger brothers are still involved with the club as their the ball boys. Yes i know the family

You guys might think I'm crazy but there's an 18-year-old called Charles William who played for Dulwich Hill 18's last season and he was scoring a goal a game in the second half of the season in his first year of rep football. His been all over the place in 2016 from Bonnyrigg 18's to Mt Druitt 18's and now he is at Nepean FC with the first grade in State League. Short and skinny. Could have a massive future if given the right opportunities.

I watched Redlands play against Olympic in the Qld NPL about a month ago now, and remember thinking their #7 looked like a great player.
That player is Michael Lee and scored Redland's first goal last night against Adelaide United. He had a good game and is one of those players who drifts all around the field looking for the ball. Plenty of confidence and not afraid to take a player on.
Another player worth watching is Igor Sao Joes (#16 for Redlands). He came on in extra time last night and I thought he had an immediate impact.

Davey Van't Schip - Plays in NPLV for Pascoe Vale. Son of JVS (95% sure). 9 Goals in 22 games this year. Very hard worker off the ball Luka Prelevic- Also plays for Pascoe Vale and was capped this year by the NZ All whites as a replacement for Smeltz. Still only 20
Really like watching both these guys play, feel like they are playing below their level.

Good to see Atilla Ofli rewarded for his simply superb season in NPL2 signing with Hume City (again) still only 22 years old so hopefully the step up a division doesn't halt his undisputed A-League potential talent.

Asmir Kadric, remember the name.
Young kid i believe 19/20, was playing NPL 2 reserves up until this season. Killed it for Bonnyriggs 20s and was rewarded with a debut in our FFA cup game against Hakoah. Has been a regular in our first grade squad since then and has managed 3 goals IIRC in the FFA Cup & 4 or 5 in the league/finals.
Was apart of the PS4 Pathway event they got going on but pulled our with a minor injury. Kid stands at a decent height, good dribbling skills and for a skinny kid he is very physical, not afraid to take on defenders 2x bigger than him or go into 50-50 challenges.

Good to hear that Elvis Kamsoba, a young refugee, played for Croydon in the SANPL has moved to Melbourne Knights on the back of a breakout season only 19 or 20 very skilful, doesn't mind a backflip celebration as well :)
Love these kinds of transfers, if you guys can, could you please reply with some not yet published, confirmed transfers in all states? would love to keep track of them.

Teenager debuts for first-grade football team
WESTFIELD Sports High School student Luke Ivanovic debuted as one of the youngest players in the PlayStation 4 NPL NSW Men’s first-grade competition when he suited up for Bonnyrigg White Eagles recently.Ivanovic, 16, is this week’s Local Sports Star of the Year nominee
He said he was surprised when his coach told him to warm up and prepare to take the field in the second half.“I was glad to be a part of the 20s team for the rest of the year but now training and playing with first grade is an even better feeling,” Ivanovic said. The teen played against men some decades his senior, but the young forward took it all in his stride.“I felt like I was able to cope with playing at that level, but the bigger players are definitely more of a challenge,” he said
As part of the football program at his Westfield Sports High, Ivanovic has also flourished through the youth program with the White Eagles and it was only a matter of time before the striker was called to step up into first grade football.Ivanovic trains six times a week to represent both Westfield’s team and the White Eagles, and his sight is set on playing football professionally when he finishes high school at the end of 2018.“I would love to explore opportunities to play overseas, as well as play in Australia,” Ivanovic said.Ivanovic is hoping to get another run with the White Eagles when they head to Cromer Park this Sunday to take on Manly United with at 3.30pm kick-off Young Ivanovic is only 16 years old & from reports has knocked back Sydney FC & WSW academy approaches. The kid trains 6 times a week and plays his game, now that is what you call committment & hard-work .

Another very interesting thing I've come across is the amount of FFA COE players leaving early to go to A-League/NPL teams Marc Moric - Newcastle Jets NPL Kaleb Cox - Newcastle Jets NPL Lachlan Brook - Adelaide United NPL Eduardo Castaneda - South Hobart TASNPL Rahmat Akbari - Brisbane Roar NPL
These guys still had another year remaining, interesting if they had a say or not whether they could leave. The only other scenario this has happened is with Liam Rose, Kalik and Gersbach I think... but this seems like way too many, with a year still to run. Not saying this is a bad thing at all, just interesting!!!!??!!

Rhys Saunders has returned to Gold Coast City's lineup in NPLQ. Been playing in a US Uni team. A local Gold Coast product. Bagged 10 goals for City in 2016 in a team that contained the NPLQ Golden Boot, Ben Litfin. Litfin went on to sign for Wellington Pheonix and is now at Bentleigh. So Saunders was somewhat overshadowed in 2016, having also missed the earlier part of the season recovering from an injury sustained in pre-season. One of the most exciting 'raw' prospects In NPLQ since a very young Jai Ingham, when he played for Brisbane Olympic in 2013 when they won the double. Needs to develop physically, wafer thin, but is quick, deft change of pace, strong on the ball & deadly left foot. One to keep an eye on if he stays fit & on the park.

Been playing in a US Uni team.A local Gold Coast product.Bagged 10 goals for City in 2016 in a team that contained the NPLQ Golden Boot, Ben Litfin. Litfin went on to sign for Wellington Pheonix and is now at Bentleigh. So Saunders was somewhat overshadowed in 2016, having also missed the earlier part of the season recovering from an injury sustained in pre-season.One of the most exciting 'raw' prospects In NPLQ since a very young Jai Ingham, when he played for Brisbane Olympic in 2013 when they won the double.Needs to develop physically, wafer thin, but is quick, deft change of pace, strong on the ball & deadly left foot. One to keep an eye on if he stays fit & on the park. Yes!!! I really enjoyed seeing his highlights from last season, He was the one that went to River Plate for a year yes? Yep that's correct Nice

I only just found out that Springvale White Eagles have a Bosnian international play for them which is baffling for a few reasons. -he's 28 years old and they are in NPL2.
Can anyone else elaborate on why he's playing such a low level and if he's any good? Could be a look in for a cheap import for an A League side, you never know?

Great to have an update on the NPL clubs where these boys end up, great job Ds98! Matthew Fletcher after he left the Mariners was playing with Manly, not sure if he's still there though as he hasn't appeared in their match day squad in a while. Riley Woodcock is playing with Sydney United 58 and Ryan Peterson who played a few games at the start of last season for the Mariners is with the Northern Tigers in NSW NPL 2.

I'd have a look at Daniel Cerkovski - Woden Weston FC I'm not sure how old he is, or his previous records but 11 goals in his last 8 games for a team sitting in 8th in Canberra ATM

This is his first year in NPL. Had previously been scoring loads in the local Canberra comp for Queanbeyan City. Also there is Finn Jurak (18) First choice goalkeeper for Belconnen United Olaide Yinka-Kehinda (23) Nigerian forward for Woden-Weston. Has some pretty good skills. Used to be in Brentford and Birmingham academies if I remember correctly Michael Rinaudo (21) Striker for Gungahlin

We were on track for our first win Of The season early against them, up 2-0. He came on, immediately won and scored a penalty and then broke our hearts with a late, late, (really late, trust me, we were a bit upset with the referees, but nonetheless) LATE stunning equaliser. Was quite impressed with him from the bench.I'd suggest some Rhinos, but.. Well I'll let the young guys get some first grade gametime (with results) first and impress with that. Played with 5 18s by the looks of it in a 4-2 loss at home to Olympic on the weekend, and the 18s have been impressing me in their competition too.

And I hope for your sake that some of the Rhino's can really push on, I feel as though Canberra and the Capital NPL is one of the hotspots for uncovering some of Australia's best talents. So if you could keep some updates on these players coming (that is if u want to), that would be awesome.

Quiet. Decent shot stopper. Comes out a lot a la Mat Ryan. Hasn't been playing much recently I think due to family commitments. I have heard he played in some sort of national set up in Fiji before coming to Australia and Yoogali FC. But, being in Canberra, not sure how exactly he went pre-Rhinos but must have been one Of The better keepers, along with the back up keeper that has been playing 20s. First game he got sent off for two yellow card offences, rushing out for one on ones. Next game back, got clobbered in a similar fashion. I do know though that one Of The 5 18s that I mentioned that played against Olympic over the weekend Was The keeper.

+xHosine Bility,16, is back playing for Croydon Kings after his trial in Denmark at FC Midtylland Looks as though FC Midtylland liked what they saw of young Hosine, not sure if its a typo or anything but according to Midtylland's wiki page he is listed as a senior player. Surely can't see him going straight into the senior set-up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_MidtjyllandEDIT: The deal is apparently off

+xDoes Fijian Keeper have a name? Jone Ralulu - 31 year old https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QE5szYwVjy0There is some very good players in the Capital Football NPL particularly in the youth department. I am not based there but have plenty of contacts down there and try to get to a few games a year to see what is happening. A few others that I would consider adding to the list would be Jason Ugrinic (23) Forward for Belconnen United. Has been a top player for a few years now. Went to Murray United in NPL2 Victoria in off season but has returned to Belco Josh Gulevski (19) Forward for Canberra Olympic. Has scored 5 in 11 this season. Last season scored 11 in 18 for the Canberra United Academy. I would consider him a very high prospect Leo Mazis (17) Midfielder for Belconnen United Kofi Danning (26) Forward for Canberra FC. Former A League player for Brisbane Roar and Sydney FC Michael Kita (17) Midfielder for Cooma Tigers. Originally from the DR Congo. A regular in the Cooma Senior setup Then there is the youth players that look promising but haven't made the step up to regular senior NPL (yet) these would be Kye Edwards, Riley Angelosante, Lachlan Camm, Tom Cosentini, Hayden Thai and pretty much anyone playing for the Canberra United Academy U17 side. Belconnen United usually upload highlights to their youtube which is good https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbjkzGZKoe3EV_448fw6B3A/videos?sort=dd&view=0&shelf_id=0

looks as though joint leading goal scorer in the NPLNSW Jordan Figon is trialling with the Mariners against the Olyroos this morning, he is actually 23 turning 24 later in December of this year. As i'd had him previously in the 'overs' category.
Edit: Brendan Cholakian is also trialling with the Mariners in the same match

Watched the highlights package of Pascoe Vale vs Avondale. 16 year old substitute Johnathan Koutroulis scored in his second consecutive match off the bench for Pascoe Vale, both times contributing the winning goal... interesting debut season for him!

Don't think anyone playing NPL has been signed by an A-League team as of yet which is really disappointing, and really a spit in the face to those who genuinely could do a job in the top flight. I'm starting to get really pissed by this!! What message is this sending to youngsters in NPL academies which are proven pathways to A-League clubs!!

There's been a whole shit load of movements over the break, its taking a bit of time to get all of the updates sorted, but I am trying to adjust this list in terms of appearances, goals and consistent displays.

For me there is one clear standout that cannot be overlooked this coming offseason and must be picked up by an A league team, his performances have just been that good.
Elvis Komsoba playing at the minute for Avondale Heights in the NPL Victoria is a class above the rest.
Following his season with the Knights last year where he was the standout player, he is most definitely backing those performances up. Whilst last year he was scoring and single handedly kept the Knights in the top flight, this season he his creating more chances for team and the two strikers are reaping the benefit with the team undefeated at the top.
Stefan Zinni who just came back from a stint with Western Sydney cannot get a look in, which tells the quality of this boy. Put him into any A league team, his speed and skill is too hard to manage.
Sometimes i wonder what those in recruitment positions see in players, for me clearly this boy should be at the next level with potential to reach further heights.

Update on Australia's 2015 WC U17 squad
James Delianov (18) - Melbourne City NPL (NPL2 EAST VIC) Duro Dragicevic (18) - Sydney FC (NPLNSW) Nicholas Sorras (19) - Rockdale City Suns (U20's NPLNSW)
Jackson Bandiera (20) - Sydney FC (NPLNSW) Perry Fotakopoulos (19) - Western Sydney Wanderers (NPL2NSW) Aaron Reardon (19) - Brisbane Roar (NPLQLD) Kye Rowles (20) - CCM (A-League) Jonathan Vakirtzis (20) - Melbourne Victory (NPL2 WEST VIC) Malcolm Ward (18) - Blacktown City (U20's NPLNSW)
Panos Armenakas (19) - AFC Tubize (Loan from Udinese) Daniel Arzani (19) - Melbourne City (Australia National Team) (A-League) Jake Brimmer (20) - Perth Glory (A-League) Joe Caletti (19) - Brisbane Roar (A-League) Charlie Devereux (20) - Adelaide United (NPLSA) Josh Hope (20) - Melbourne Victory (A-League) Josh Laws (20) - Fortuna Dusseldorf (Reserves) Nicholas Panetta (20) - Gold Coast United (NPLQLD) Thomas Prinsen (19) - PEC Zwolle II
Lucas Derrick (19) - Northcote City (NPLVIC) Pierce Waring (19) - Melbourne Victory (A-League) ( TRIALLING at CEREZO OSAKA) Cameron Joice (19) - (Jets page still lists him as part of their NYL squad, yet hasn't made an appearance this NPL season to date, might have been released)
Three years on, in terms of percentage rate this group has done pretty well in getting senior appearances. Arzani is already a part of the Senior Int. team, and a number of others have started to become regulars in their respective teams. Arzani, Rowles, Caletti, Brimmer and Hope have had the most A-League experience with Reardon and Waring tasting some senior game-time.
The other guys are at least playing in their respective league and team. However Armenakas has been a massive let down in the step up to senior football. Hopefully he can work something else out with Udinese.

Wollongong midfielder Quivi Fowler,19 has transferred to Eerste Divisie team FC Dordrecht. According to Tony Tannous on Twitter he will apparently be deployed into the first team, likely as a number 10.
He previously spent a couple years in the Vitesse Arnhem youth system, a well regarded one as well. Interesting to see if he can make a few appearances. They pushed hard for promotion playing against Dougalls Sparta, bu just losing out.

That makes two players, Fowler and Mikulic who have made transfers to overseas clubs from NPL clubs. so far Dylan Wenzel-Halls is the only player from Australian NPL's to be signed to an A-League club... where are these guys looking for talent ffs!!

Ex Victory and NPL journey-man Roddy Vargas is now at Bulleen as they try to sure up that leaky defence.
Hume have also completed some solid signings, they've been very slack on the social media front this year but they've managed to bring in
James Brown (Nunawading) ex Heart/City Aryn Williams ex Glory Tom Barforosh (Northcote) ex City youth
strange seeing them fall so badly this season

Also CCM inadvertently may have confirmed they have agreed or have Matt Millar from South Melbourne also training with them. Saw him training in a little clip showing how well Jack Clisby is fitting in to the club.
Wasn't in the squad tonight against Pascoe Vale.

There is a fair bit going on around the various NPL's around Australia Ive decided to rank the top performers myself in terms of players of who I think will get picked up this A-League off season.
NPL NSW #1 Jordan Murray (AUS) - APIA Leichardt Tigers - 22YO
Honestly probably in the top 5 best finishers in Australia at the moment, in all comps. Has scored over 15 Goals in all competitions this year (think its 18, not sure). Theres a bit of the Jamie Vardy's about him. Would be a very solid pick-up for any A-League club as things stand. I honestly think he could be a 10+ goal scorer in the A-League in the seasons to come. If i'm not mistaken his father played in the NSL for Wollongong. (I'm no NSL buff)
#2 Jacob Tratt (AUS) - Sutherland Sharks - 23YO
Previously at Wellington Phoenix, I thought he was stiff not to warrant a contract, thought he was one of the Nix's best before getting injured. Still definitely has what it takes to play in the A-League. His no nonsense defending is enjoyable to watch. he has a decent free kick on him for a defender and is powerful in the air. With Rudan at Phoenix surely he reunites with Tratt after working together at SU58.
#3 Anthony Frangie (AUS) - Hakoah Sydney City East - 21YO
This guy reminds me of Panni Nikas, in both play-style and sock height. Honestly this guy has a bullet of a leg on him, scored some outrageous goals in the past month and no matter what level or position you put him in he looks like he'll do the job superbly without breaking a sweat.
#4 Alejandro Sanchez Lopez (ESP) Sydney Olympic - 29YO
This guy would take up a VISA spot, but after watching his highlights and goals he'd be worth it on the cheap probably as well. has a pretty good pedigree coming from Zaragoza and Osasuna as well.
#5 Tasuku Sekiya (JPN/AUS) APIA Leichardt Tigers - 25YO
Technically this guy is one of, if not the best in NSW. he's very tricky and can finish very well. He's very small, but his pace and creativity more than makes up for his height disadvantage. I think he's been in Australia for a fairly long-time, has good english and along with Konagaya in the NPLVIC is one of the best Japanese attackers with a smaller resume. which could entice a few A-League clubs due to affordability.
Obviously now that I've written about these guys they won't be picked up ;) But honestly think these guys could potentially star in the League.

Yeah kept a keen eye on James Andrew, thought he was doing good things with Blacktown, but decided to leave for Marconi. Scored against the mariners in the FFA cup last year so hopefully he can do the same for Marconi and put himself in the shop window again. He's still pretty young as well.

That your dreaming if you think 15 players will get picked up from the NPL this season when a whole 3 in which one spent like half a season at Bulleen before going back & the other 2 were injury replacement players got picked up last season Where does it say that these guys WILL undoubtedly get picked up anywhere in the previous posts? I said these are they guys who will most likely get picked up this off season if A-League clubs are looking to the NPL for personnel. I know and acknowledge that it is highly unrealistic due to A-League clubs being terrible on that front. But it's simply my opinion. Your dreaming if you think that I'm being serious. I'm just giving an update on the best performers in their respective leagues... again my opinion. your entitled to your own

NPL Victoria
#1 Brandon Barnes (ENG) Dandenong Thunder - 25YO
He's the best player in the Victorian NPL by a mile. he's scored 70 goals in 2 and a half seasons of Football. albeit most in the second division. He has undoubted quality. He might need to get himself a little fitter if he wants to truly make the step-up. Knocked back South, Heidelberg, Bentleigh in order to stay with Thunder. But you'd have to think he'll jump at the chance to play in the A-League. he'll only qualify as a VISA player until he's about 27 so anyone wanting him will have to use a VISA spot which would in my opinion still be worth it.
#2 Yuta Konagaya (JPN) Port Melbourne - 22YO (I think)
As with Sekiya from APIA, very similar playing styles, whilst watching Port vs Bulleen, he single handedly won Port the game with his skill and audacious-ness. A very exciting player for sure.
#3 Elvis Kamsoba (AUS) Avondale FC - 22YO
Elvis is super dynamic and very quick on his feet. A very good finisher for such a small bloke. He is extremely small which works against him the majority of the time. His disciplinary record isn't very good however. If things don't go his way he tends to drop-off, and get himself into trouble, thats just an observation from watching him a couple times. I feel he can go all the way along with his brother at Adelaide United, just needs to get himself mentally stronger and he can do it.
#4 Tomi Uskok (AUS) Knights FC - 27YO
Former CCMariner Uskok would be my first choice pick for an injury replacement CB. He is tall and has brilliant leadership skills, an Aerial threat from set-pieces. However lacks pace.
#5 Yitay Towns (AUS) Avondale FC - 21YO
This could be seen as a controversial option. However the Tasmanian is the link between defence and attack, which brought early success to Avondale, his bursts out of the contest is a real asset, he's very good with the ball at his feet. Watched him live numerous times now, and he never stops running.
Other honourable mentions
#6 Sean Ellis (SCO) Heidelberg United - 28YO #7 Davey Vant'Schip (AUS) Pascoe Vale - 27YO #8 Kieran Dover (AUS) Green Gully - 21YO #9 Nick Krousoratis (AUS) Green Gully - 24YO #10 Josh Wilkins (AUS) Heidelberg United - 25YO

Good to see Matt Millar, 21 get another shot in the A-League with the Mariners. He could be a really solid RB if given the right coaching and environment. He's usually deployed as a Winger for South, but due to Roux's departure I'd expect him to push McGing out of that position altogether

I'm more than confident he'll play RB for the Mariners as you said, he is a frustrating player to watch. But with the increase in demand in him to perform I think he'll do well for the Mariners.

Looks as though Jacob Tratt will sign for Wellington, making him the fifth NPL player to sign for an A-League club this off-season. with James Virgili still being assessed by Newcastle.
Kenny Athiu - two year deal from Heidelberg United Dylan Wenzell-Halls - one year deal from Western Pride FC Joe Gauci - scholarship deal from West Torrens Birkalla Matt Millar - (Guessing) one year deal from South Melbourne FC
Edit: Hakoah City forward and Kiwi Andre De Jong is also close to negotiating a deal with the Phoenix after being involved in pre-season friendlies.

one time wanderers academy starlet Alusine Fofanah is now playing for Rydalmere Lions in NPLNSW2. really thought he was going places when he was in the A-League.
Speaking of ex Wanderers academy starlets, Manny Gonzalez has scored 16 in 19 appearances for Mt Druitt Rangers as they look to consolidate promotion.
ex Glory fullback Jeremy Walker is back playing with Green Gully in NPLVIC again after he was let go presumably by Poppa.

The lack of opportunities in the A-League is starting to become pretty noticeable with a few NPL players moving to overseas leagues in order to further their careers, lately we've seen.
Dejan Pandurevic (Manly United) -- FK Zemun (Serbian top flight) Peter Makrillos (Rockdale City) -- Panionios (Greek top flight) George Timotheou (Sydney Olympic) -- FC Schalke II (Schalke reserves) Caleb Mikulic (Melbourne Knights) -- FK Austria Wien (Austrian top flight) Yaren Sozer (Pascoe Vale FC) -- Istanbul Basaksehir (Turkish top flight)
also add to a lesser extent Quivi Fowler (Wollongong Wolves) -- FC Dordrecht (Dutch second div) - already had credit in Netherlands with his time at Vitesse James Baldacchino (Wollongong Wolves) -- Maltese top flight - didn't last long Jordan Figon (Rockdale City) -- Cyprus - yet to see what tier club he'll sign to. Max Burgess (Sydney Olympic) -- Portuguese second tier - didn't play much, back at Olympic.
also discounting some of the older players going to ASEAN teams
It's still yet to be seen how successful these guys will be overseas, but gee. I hope they do well just so A-League clubs get a kick up the bum. Knowing A-League clubs, the players they used to have that went overseas via the NPL, will claim they offered them all the opportunities in the world.

Half-time in all matches currently underway.
The Avondale - Marconi game seemed a little cagey.
James Andrew loves the FFA cup
Elvis has been ok, but this game is calling for Towns and Zinni who are on the bench for Avondale.

Canberra FC down to Broadmeadow Magic tonight 4-1. Bit of a shame perhaps showing the lack of quality in the nation's capital? (No disrespect to NNSW clubs but thought Canberra would be rather similar in quality)
Canberra FC still has Kofi Danning at the club as well as Jordan Thurtell now.
Another to look out for is Englishman Thomas James who is probably the best player in the competition and has been for the last few years now. 26 year old now but could see him maybe making a mid table NSW or VIC side if he was to go out of the ACT.
Stephen Domenici has also returned after an unsuccessful stint in the Illawarra league Scored 2 in 9? I believe, compare that to previous seasons in ACT where he's scored 20+ goals. Once again showing the quality of local football in Canberra unfortunately.
Plenty of youngsters looking quite decent and could see having a bright future if they develop right - Michael Kita, FInn Jurak, Mikey Katsoulis, Sam Habtemariam, Bul Juach, Augustine Bangura, James Fletcher, Ben Obst (+ a few more) Also Daniel Fabrizio who I believe is out for the whole season with an ACL injury.
Special mentions as well to Olaide Yinka-Kehinde, Aisosa Ihegie, Segun Adam, Michael Rinaudo, Nicolas Villafane who I've heard good things about too.
One game each round is streamed live on BarTV Sports on YouTube and Facebook. If anyone was interested in checking out

Players to look out for tonight, MD2
Alec Urosevski - Rockdale - One of the brightest attacking threats in the NPL NSW 10+ goals this season. Still only 24, spent time with Sydney FC in his junior years.
Sean Ellis - Heidelberg - Best player for Heidelberg 100%. He's 28 but, he's quality.
Josh Taylor - Cairns FC - 20+ goals this season in NPLQLD. brilliant finisher.

Very impressed with Toufic Alameddine tonight not sure if he plays like that usually or just stepped up to the occasion? Only 24, could see some A-League clubs keeping tabs on him after tonight?

Jordan Murray looks set to become an A-League player in the coming weeks. CCM are the front-runners 99% sure, but Sydney have been keeping tabs apparently as well.

Couldn't be any happier for Jordan Murray!! This is big for him, no doubt he'll get plenty of game-time with Simon just ahead of him purely based off of experience. But I honestly see him banging in at least 5 goals would be a successful season in my eyes, considering the talent behind him.
Josh MacDonald is a weird one, he's showed he has good technical ability, but he never seems to have that cut-throat end product as a CAM. Hopefully this environment will do wonders for the both of 'em.
Tratt, Wooding and De Jong could still sign for AL clubs, also expect some GK's to arrive at some clubs, Newcastle and Sydney the expected destinations. An exciting season ahead for NPL fans.

+xjosh macdonald is nothing but rubbish, bench player at wolves this year opinion noted, over the past two seasons i'd have to agree with you. But maybe that environment just didn't do it for him. Now that he's at the pinnacle of Aus Football, your performances can change with the increase in demand. But in saying that, yes his highlight packages aren't overly convincing.

De Jong is class from the few games I’ve seen him in, can’t beleive Wellington haven’t given him a go.
Also Yianni Nicolaou from Marconi has been given a lot of game time for an 18 year old and looks a good prospect.

Six confirmed NPL -> A-League players confirmed so far for 2018-19, with at least two more deals seemingly to go through. This is a much better turn around from last season where, one player, Lewis Italiano, went on loan to Bulleen Lions and then went back to Wellington when the A-League season started again.
Kenny Athiu (MV) - two year deal from Heidelberg United Dylan Wenzell-Halls (BR) - one year deal from Western Pride FC Joe Gauci (CCM) - scholarship deal from West Torrens Birkalla Matt Millar (CCM) - (Guessing) one year deal from South Melbourne FC Jordan Murray (CCM) - one year deal from APIA Leichardt Josh MacDonald (CCM) - one year deal from Wollongong Wolves
This is what should be happening every A-League off season. Give players a chance to impress, the off-season goes for 4-5 months ffs. It's not like there are time restraints.

Another piece of interesting news is that Bai Antoniou has signed for Cypriot top flight team Olki Oroklini. Who finished 7th last season. that makes him the fourth NPL player to sign a professional contract with a top tier European club this NPL season and the sixth player to sign a European contract in general..

So tonights players to look out for
James Xydias (Bentleigh Greens) 20yo Fullback. Seems to have that knack of knowing when to advance into the attacking third and finding himself in a goalscoring situation.
Ryan Scott (Bentleigh Greens) 23yo GK. Always a stand out on the big occasions. very passionate player.
Velibor Mitrovic/ Matt Thurtell. (Bentleigh Greens) Both in good goalscoring form in the NPLVIC.
Nicholas Panetta (GC Knights) 20yo attacker, scored a double in the U17wc against Argentina. released from Roar two years ago.
Gerrie Sylaidos (Northcote City) 19yo Attacker. Former City player. Technically superb, very unlucky to be released by City, still imho one for the future.
Brayden Mann (Devonport) Brilliant striker has won leading goalscorer in the TASNPL for 5 years or something ridiculous.
Can't say much about Hellenic, don't know enough about them.

17-year-old Canberran, Anton Barisic, from Gungahlin United has signed a deal with Levante U23's. he went nitially to try-out for the U18's, but were impressed by him they signed him to the U23 team. This just magnifies the need for a pro team in Canberra.

+x+x17-year-old Canberran, Anton Barisic, from Gungahlin United has signed a deal with Levante U23's. he went nitially to try-out for the U18's, but were impressed by him they signed him to the U23 team. This just magnifies the need for a pro team in Canberra. That was like in January dude He was offered a six month trial in January. only signed a deal in the last few weeks.

Northcote Winger/CAM Gerrie Sylaidos (19) is also off to trial with the Jets.
He was so unlucky not to get anywhere at City due to the progression of other kids like Arzani, Ianucci and Najjarine. Hopefully he can impress, because he is a very intelligent player.

+xDs98 I have heard good things from Emmanuel Gonzalez of Mt Druitt, apparently quite young too, one to keep an eye on. Yep! he was the leading Goal scorer in the NPL 2. I'm pretty sure he's 20-21, hopefully he can continue his goal scoring carrying into NPL1 next season. Some other news former Sampdoria youth player Daniel Baggio, 18, who returned to Aus to play for Port Melbourne has returned to Europe to play for Sparta Rotterdam's U19's squad.

Kenny Athiu (MV) - two year deal from Heidelberg United Dylan Wenzell-Halls (BR) - one year deal from Western Pride FC Joe Gauci (CCM) - scholarship deal from West Torrens Birkalla Matt Millar (CCM) - one year deal from South Melbourne FC Jordan Murray (CCM) - one year deal from APIA Leichardt Josh MacDonald (CCM) - one year deal from Wollongong Wolves
Kaine Sheppard (NJ) - one year deal from Avondale FC. He'll most likely be back-up to Jair for the first half of the season until O'donovan gets back, hoping he gets some game-time.
Just happy that these boys have proved the doubters wrong, some even on here, that A-League clubs don't regard the NPL highly enough. The gap is closing and you just have to look at the Sydney v Avondale game to see the proof.

With Belenenses, I've just found out that Belenenses SAD (in the top flight) only have two teams - the first team and the under 23's. So depending on Whitehead's age, he is most likely with CF Os Belenenses in the district leagues of Lisbon (the youth teams still play in the national youth competitions).

Ross Archibald has moved from Avondale to Altona Magic for their maiden NPL1 season.
I expect to see some more big business from them in the coming weeks/months.

Nick Olsen trialling with Sydney’s fc as a possible injury replacement for Buhagiar, could see him or another NPL player take a spot there.

Green Gully have signed Alex Salmon from Inglewood United in the WANPL, probably the best player in that competition for a few years now.

Some pretty interesting moves across the NPL's this off-season. One of the more intriguing ones is seeing how many Adelaide based players are making their way across the border. Maybe they've identified the pathway more beneficial seeing the likes of Kamsoba who left the SANPL for the NPLV, ending up in the A-League.
One player who will likely follow Elvis' path is Valentino Yuel, a pacy and skilful winger, who had a break-out season at Adelaide City, and has found himself at Bentleigh Greens under one of the best managers in the League. So there is no doubt he will light up the FFA Cup when the time comes much like Elvis did before him.
With the announcement of WUFC coming in next year, there are a plethora of Youngsters and guys in their prime who have flocked to the NPLV those of whom are more than capable of tearing the NPLV apart this season, giving themselves the best chance of picking up a professional deal for the HAL 19/20 .

Bentleigh Greens signed USSR born, German midfielder Arnold Suew, 27, he played with Richmond last season in SL1, scored 5 goals in 13 apps, and already has an assist to his name for Bentleigh.. Has experience in the German second and third tiers... An interesting player to look out for this season.
Valentino Yuel, 24, made a bright start to his VPL career with a two goal performance against South. Big things to come from him. S/o to Matt Crooks, 20, who also looks the goods for Bentleigh, he signed from Adelaide United.
Mentioned a few weeks ago, Alex Salmon, 24, the former Inglewood goal poacher also made a brilliant start to his career in Victoria by scoring a goal off the bench to clinch a 1-0 victory for Gully over new boys Altona.
The quality of players in the NPL this year all over Aus, is something really interesting and exciting to monitor. Lots of youngsters getting game time as well which is the most important thing.
