Damn. I remember a few years ago everyone in my grade was saying how they wanted to do IT because there's heaps of jobs... and they looked at me as if I was crazy for doing the three science electives instead of Info Tech. Suckers.

Or tell me why my computer won't turn on :P.
Haha that made me think of IT Crowd, "Have you tried turning it on?", "The button turns it on", "I'm sorry, are you from the past?". Such a good show.

imnofreak wrote:Only thing I like is astronomy. Find that fascinating. Its not a subject in school though :( Because it's really only a tiny branch of science with little to no research involved/required. Astronomy is just the Science For Dummies tag for the overlap of physics, theoretical physics (mathematics) and geology. EDIT: In other words, there's really not all that much to teach that is very relevant to the curriculum (most of which is taught in your science classes at junior high anyway) - at least not at secondary level education. Even tertiary institutions don't offer 'astronomy'. If you're interested in the field, either subscribe to Foxtel and wikipedia, or get good at maths and study physics. I just find it interesting, didnt say I wanted to come a professor at it or anything. It would be a mad bludge as a subject. And for your interest I am doing Advanced maths.

You're in Sydney... 'Advanced Mathematics' is the standard level of maths (2 Unit). 3-4 Unit maths is 'advanced' - and in my grade only 2 people in 4 unit (2x20 ppl classes) weren't asian.

I complained about it to the pricipal and was told "well, I guess you have to look at it as the opposite of normal classes where the teacher speaks english and the chinese students have trouble understanding." I go "You're fuckign kidding right??!! This is a fucking english school, not a chinese one and it's unacceptable for me to be outcast when I'm forced to be here because the class is full of asians." I remember that conversation with the school principal rather vividly. He then asked me to leave his office and he'd take me out of the class. And I've been a dumb shit ever since:P

All the smart ones in my year were asians. And they are all my friends. But they aren't the stereotypical asians. They can actually speak English as they all grew up here.
They never touched alcohol in school and frowned upon those that did.
Then they went to Uni. I saw them a couple years into Uni and they were all pissheads  We have some good times now that we have money :)

haha. Yeah afro, what a stupid thing for the principal to say. Its australia and its an english school. It unfortunate they may not be able to understand, but the teacher cant favour those kids and speak chinese!
There are 6 asians in my year and they are all wicked musicians and extremely smart.

If you don't speak english, don't spend the thousands of dollars to come to school here, stay at home in china and go to school. Simple. I used to know an asian celloist who could play anything on cello, Mozart etc, and stuff like Enter Sandman and it all sounded brilliant. HE had perfect pitch and could play back songs from having heard them a couple of times too. What I wouldn't give to be able to see inside his head as he did that...

Quote:What do you think the ellipsis was for? It's for leaving out sections of a sentence, connecting two thoughts within a sentence or signalling that a thought is incomplete at the end of a sentence. "omission of words from a sentence to achieve brevity and compression."

In year 8 i had a shit maths teacher who would get corrected by students and in year 9 a good one who was so boring that by the time he got to the stuff you needed to know I had stopped listening in year 7 i got 100% on my algebra test in year 10 I got 27%. I only passed 2 tests in year 9 and for the first semester of ywar 10 I had a shit teacher but my second semester one is pulling me back on track and I am passing now but I am in Maths B and I have decided to drop it next year because I am heading down the photography & media/writing path. Maths is the only thing I suck at. Probably my best is english, media and photography and photog and media are the ones I love. I dont have the problems you do because Bendigo is really caucasian we have about 5 Asian's in my year level one is straight from the Philipines and speaks good english the rest have been born and raised here or in England so speak well enough
