Ok, the deal with in-ear headphones: They have no noise cancelation, so you have to have them up much louder than on hear headphones to head as clearly. This results in distortion and aural damage, whether they're in your ear canal or sitting in the outer ear. You should buy on-ear headphones. you'll thank me in fifteen years when you still have your hearing.

You've got no idea what you're talking about. In ear headphones are the ones that you have to turn up to ridiculous volume.

You have three kinds of headphones:
on hear headphones

in ear headphones

in ear-canal headphones


Now, because on ear headphones have noise cancellation from cupping your ears, they do not have to be up as loud in volume cancelling street noise etc, thus you're a) not sharing your music with everybody around you, and b) not having extreme volumes of air pressure hititng your eardrum.

In ear headphones share your music around, and people listen on them waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to loud because it doesn't cancel out background noise. Your average street noise is 70db, you have to have +6db on top of that to be able to hear clearly, so you're listening at almost 80db, which is as loud as a lawnmower, for long periods of time. Now consider what that will do to your hearing.

In ear canal headphones are the worst. Because they're pressed into your eardrum, the pressure builds up over the period listening. You're going to cause cramping to the muscles in your ear and damage the cochlear long-term.

My mistake got my types of headphones mixed up because I honestly couldn't give a fuck which headphones are better or worse.

You basically have no hearing when you're wearing on ear headphones anyway since it cancels out every other sound except your music.

Which you do when you have your in-ear headphones at a loud enough volume to drown out backing noise anyway.

The damage that in ear headphones do will mean you'll be at the very least strugglingt o hear, if not 90% deaf by the time you're 60.

Exactly. I have my opinion on what I personally like, I couldnt give a fuck if this type will stop noise or if this pair will kill me. I like the in-ear ones.

Anyway, earphones are best for when doing exercise and the over ear headphones are best for high quality reproduction and just chilling.

For me, I enjoy my music and need to have good quality sound - so I use headphones. Though, the Sennheiser earphones that came with my iRiver are fucking brilliant - way better than any Sony, TDK or Panasonic ones I've tested since.

Earphones only come out if they're carrying the weight of a massively long cord, the remote, or if they're shitty/cheap, unergonomical ones. Otherwise your ears must be deformed. And on-ear headphones are so 90s, so I guess you're ahead of the fashion. :P

They tend to get pulled out by my mp3 player jiggling in my pocket, and I don't want to buy an armband.

On ears are kinda 90's, but they do the job. They'll be back too, like navel-height jeans :lol:
