Ok look at it this way.

With Ghana knowing that England finished second and the USA 1st in group c they knew a 0-1 loss would land them in the second round against USA and on the side of the draw that has Uruguay, Sth Korea and the USA and one of those teams will make the semi. While finishing first in the group would have landed them on the side of the draw with England, Argentina and Mexico.

It just seems to convinient that they have such a soft run at a potential semi:-k
