If you dont know what yorue talking about dont comment. Smith came in at number 11, last man, he usually comes in 3 or opens, I cant remember. All he had to do was hold out and SA may have gotten the draw. He wasnt fully injured at the start of the match, the injury that meant he came in at 11 today was sustained in the first innings. It was either bat or concede defeat with not long to go after only losing 9 wickets.

The tennis elbow wasnt what pushed him down to XI was it?
Did he used to bat at 3? Where does he bat in ODIs?

I wouldn't say he was 'fully injured' with regards to the elbow. It was no worse than it was before, and it wasn't hindering him enough to cause him to stop, obviously.

Did he used to bat at 3? Where does he bat in ODIs? Nope, it was definitely the broken hand. And I'm fairly sure he opens in ODI too.

He might've batted a couple of times at three behind Kirsten and Gibbs early in his career but I can't remember him doing so.

Wiki said his first test match he batted at 3 for the first innings then moved to 1/2 for the second. I think that was the first tour I watched on fox sports all those years ago. 2002. Gilchrist got a double hundred I think and I also remember andy bichel doing something good. Shady, shady memories.

I wasn't logged on at that time, and you guys were talking it up, so I had to go and see what the fuss was about. Right move. I just love fights like that. Edited by Benjo: 7/1/2009 11:59:24 PM
