The fires up in Kinglake completely destroyed it. I'm a -20 min drive south from there and could see the orange tinge in the sky last night. The fire is heading north though so I won't be affected but it's fucked up. There's no way the fires could be stopped. It's all bush up that way.

Has anybody got a new fatality count?? Last I heard was 85.

126 now apparently? Devastating. You would think in this day and age something like this could be prevented or at least diminished a little.

Our estate is on the bottom of the road worst affected in Bendigo and they opened the road today, there is just black everywhere and about 30% of the houses are intact it is just crazy. If the fire had of gone and extra 100 meters it would have hit a huge patch of fiel taking it on a direct course to my house, which is a scary thought.

Nomatter which day and age it is, you're still going to get the unpredictablility of fires and you're still going to get people who choose to stay and defend their homes.

Kinglake is all bush and nothing else. I mean they could clean up all the dead branches,leaves and shit but it's just gonna come right back. The shit thing is the fires were heading up north but the wind has sent them back down to Kinglake.

The official deathtoll is 131 at the moment. They're predicting it could excede 200 though.
Marysville has been completely cordoned off and declared a crime scene and a taskforce has been set up to find the arsonists who will be charged with mass murder.
