+x+xI'd rather just go to the pub than change ISP. Your not listening mate. You don't have to change ISP to watch the EPL on you TV in HD. Chromecast. Its a $40 investment at JB HI that let's you stream content (Netflix Stan YouTube and Optus sport) using your own ISP (in my case TPG nbn) straight to your TV. I pay $30 per month for a mobile broadband plan. Which I use when I run out of mobile data. And just watch the EPL on my 52 inch TV in HD of an NBN internet plan I already had. Its really not that hard. Believe me I am anything but a tech head. I had to look up ISP to know what everyone was crying about. EPL isn't really worth the hastle tbh.

I'm going wherever the HAL goes.
I'm currently paying $190/month for Telstra broadband and Foxtel and I've only got Foxtel for the HAL.
The first thing to go is Foxtel which will save me $90/month and if need be I'll get the HAL via the mobile network and keep Telstra broadband but most likely I'll go to Optus unlimited data broadband which Telstra don't offer.
Mind you I think all this is a mute point, I just don't see Foxtel letting the HAL go !

Considering that the only daily Football podcast in the country totally forgot to even mention the game last night, its absolutely NO surprise that the figures were lower than usual. There wasn't much awareness this game was even on. I didn't realise until I even got home and Im checking football forums and sports news during the day. Goes to show how shite broadcasting a random mid week A-league game is. At least with the FFA cup people are aware of it leading in.

I never new our target audience was board NRL fans. All the NRL fans I know do not care for football at all. Its why you see the NRL get 300k avg while we get 60k avg. If that our audience. We have been chasing them for a long time and I dont see them coming.

I thought that was what you would want.

I'm not sure why you even want to discuss what I pay but here goes - I got Foxtel for the HAL, only reason so if the HAL goes it goes. But having got that the kids of course wanted the kids package and the wife wanted the movie package so we ended up at $90/month. And that's why content is valuable to service providers right - I get Foxtel for what I really want and then hang extra expense from stuff I actually don't want but the family does. Make sence?

I forgot the football was on TV last night, until 25mins in and I knew there was a game on.So good luck to casuals. I really wonder sometimes how good people at Foxtel ,SBS and FFA are with promotion.Maybe it's desire .Maybe its politics, trying to keep figures low ,while negotiations are ongoing.Either way, when you have a show on thurs night and it's not normally on thurs night ,how about telling or reminding people. I wonder how hard it is for Foxtel to cross promote on other channels or for FFA or Foxtel to advertise? How do they expect the public to know or attract casuals? One thing is for certain. If you have any show on at random times, like a thurs night,if you don't advertise, you can't be that serious about the program or you are just incompetent at promotion.

Advertising is really expensive. It's why the FTA component is so important - free advertising.
If you're connected to the competition by Facebook or twitter you knew there was a game on last night but as you say that doesn't reach casuals. The FTA component will deliver greater awareness providing football doesn't get shut away on a digital sub channel somewhere.

Waz, Advertising is expensive, but we are talking about Foxtel as well. When you are in the business of selling tv shows, isn't advertising your bread and butter.Shouldn't you know how to do it most effectively and shouldn't you know it's true worth. What's the point of putting football on a thurs and not telling people? I wonder how many people are lost to programs ,by inconsistent scheduling. Was there a reason the game was on thurs? If it was to test ratings, then it's not a good test ,if people don't know . Personally,I think games should be at the same time each week, barring some major issue. Then people get used to watching games and can plan more easily.

Fox did advertise the game but not to the same level or reach as an FTA could. The FFA want an FTA onboard that will promote this weekends HAL like it's going out of fashion during breaks to the ofimetine shows, that sort of advertising has real impact but fox advertising it is like preaching to the converted

Wow,Isn't that one of the highest SBS ratings this year for HAL?No Syd or Melb teams. No Cahill. Amazing when you consider Adelaide haven't won a game yet.It proves that people like to watch teams that play great football, even if they are neutrals. Adealide probably the best team to watch.Always show up with attacking football.

It might not be the FFA fault either. All the shit they do which you hate is most likely forced on them by the very broadcast partner you are trying to favour. Fox is the one who wants a start in October and no international breakes and a balanced league with only teams in major cities and a biased FFA cup draw. Etc etc. You hate all those things but you want football to stay on fox. Your being as stupid as those US voters who want change so they voted for Trump. Going to Optus or Bein is the best opportunity we have to change things for the better. It should be just about the money but about the sport. And all you want to do is be Facetious.
