Yeah I don't understand the obsessions with Australian's rubbishing mid-week football. The more football throughout the week the merrier! The issue is advertising - nobody knew the game was on last night. The more promotion of mid-week football the better. It has the potential to be a high rater. Not saying Mariners/Glory is a high rating game but in I think Thursdays can work.

There is absolutely no reason for midweek games even when we go to six teams.

Either give Perth the Friday 7pm (10pm AEDT), Saturday 7pm (10pm AEDT) or Sunday 4pm (7pm AEDT) timselot and just fill in the extra gap with the added team. If we bring in Tassie, can play at 3pm on Sat or Sun and Welly can play most matches at 7:35pm local on a Saturday. There are ways around it.

If the A-league is reduced to six teams they'll be able to play the games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

What the A-League is trying to do with mid-week games is to try to (1) attract asual Foxtel viewers (there's bugger all else on of a Thursday night) and (2) avoid early kick offs because of the heat.

Happy enough with those numbers against the day night cricket. Always going to be a touch lower competing so if we're pulling 70K for our Sat night games it's alright.
