+x+xApologies, just found it at the bottom of page 48. Price EscalatesAustralian soccer officials are loving the debacle of Optus covering the English Premier League. It means the A-League is now a more valuable product which is why they are chasing about $500 million over five years from Fox Sports for their next TV deal. The fact superstar Tim Cahill is scoring goals for Australia and has joined Melbourne City will also add extra millions to the deal because of his incredible popularity. is that all ? Yes, that's all of it.

+x+xAT the bottom of page 49 there's a section titled: "Referee blunders drive NRL switch off". On the left there's a picture of a TV with Channel 9 and Fox ratings totalling 990,000. On the right hand there's a picture of a TV with Channel 7 and Fox and ratings totalling 1,317,000. I quote: Friday night was a knockout victory for the AFL over rugby league. NOt only did Geelong and Hawthorn double the NRL attendance figure but they also smashed the Broncos and Titans in the television ratings released yesterday morning. All up, the AFL had more than 1.3 million viewers on Channel 7 and Fox Sports for the MCG blockbuster. The Broncos-Titans game got only 990,000 on Channel 9 and Fox Sports. What does this have to do with the broadcast deal that FFA is going after? Yes yes we all know after reading the article that Afl beat Nrl in the ratings. You should feel so utterly proud and happy. But unfortunately for you once again, this has nothing to do with Football and the deal they are after. Love how he's avoided addressing this

+xVery good ratings for City vs Utd on SBS, coming in 18th overall for Saturday: Especially in NSW and QLD where it had more than double the number of AFL viewers - for a cut throat final I might add. You'd never think that would happen in a million years to a game that has conquered the nation.

The Saturday afternoon AFL game got 157,000 in Sydney, but only 49,000 for the soccer.

Before a-league fans (like me) get defensive and take this post the wrong way (which i know some posters will) lets spare a thought for Rugby Fans. The wallabies were out rated by the EPL. Now i know that was more or less the last game in the RC with neither team in for a chance to win anything. But we are still talking about the national team and the number 3 and 4 teams in the world respectively. This was however the biggest Derby Manchester derby game in decades. With two of the most famous managers in the world (and the worlds most expensive footballer).

Wow, the AFL would not be that happy that even that game drew 49,000 in Sydney when two local teams were playing. But in the evening, when head to head, the Australia's game (a final) got creamed in nsw and qld by two teams playing lil ol sokkah on sbs televising a game on the other side of the world

Looks like A League games are on SBS2 Friday Night again this season The TV guide for 3 weeks from now became visible today. I cant see all channels so not sure if it will also be on HD also Essien first up as Brisbane host Melbourne Cahill's first appearance in round 3 in a home game to Perth I think with the HD option this will be our best ratings season yet. But the biggest challenge, as always, will be viewer retention after round 9 or 10 when the other sports start

Of course, viewer retention is important though. But I'd take casual fans over non-fans altogether. That just proves there's potential, and also gives more to the broadcast deal cause. If these $100m per season rumours are true, id happily take that, and also one of the big 3 FTA networks for one match a week.

Is Wellington diverse? Dont know, however this is a club that has no historical or existing link to a specific migrant group - Rusty Einstein
The negative stereotypes are perpetuated by people who either have no idea or are serving a vested interest; neither viewpoint should get anywhere near running Australian football - Ange Postecoglou
