2nd division into 2 conferences with 2 or 3 teams from NZ joining the teams from ACT/NSW/QLD. If there is going to be a 2nd division it has to include teams from Kiwi land to help fund/produce the young talent over here. You cant just cut the cake and eat it all to your self.

Sorry, can't see that happen as long as we are in two different confederations.

Former Fury boss Rabieh Krayem to lead NPL clubs push for A-League second division

The ground is continually shifting in Australian soccer with speculation suggesting that moves are being made by disgruntled stakeholders to persuade FIFA to disband the FFA board and start afresh to determine a new governing body for the sport.

The FFA, meanwhile, is hoping FIFA accedes to its request for a delay on the staging of the next FFA congress, the policy setting body for the Australian game, as it seeks to blunt demands for changes by those same stakeholders that, it fears, could dilute its powerbase.

The game's governing body is in an increasingly fraught relationship with its A-League clubs, who are ramping up their call for greater share of revenue from broadcasting rights.

But that is not the only front FFA chairman Steven Lowy is facing a challenge on.

The second tier teams, those in the state-based National Premier Leagues, are continuing to agitate for the creation of a national second division and a pathway to the top for ambitious clubs outside the A-League.

Earlier this year they set up the Australian Association of Football Clubs, and on Monday night at a meeting in Melbourne the fledgling group elected former North Queensland Fury executive Rabieh Krayem as the inaugural chairman of a group of eight directors.

Krayem says the creation of a national second division is "of critical importance to the development of the game".

"We want to work with FFA, the state federations, the A-League, PFA and, importantly, our member clubs and players to get the best possible model within the resources available," he said.

"The experienced football people on our board know that having more young men and women playing football more often is a vital factor in improving our football standards and quality."

Collectively, the NPL clubs have more than 30,000 registered junior and senior players (men and woman) including the semi-professional sector of the game, and are flexing their muscles in what is fast becoming a battle for the future direction of the Australian game.

Warning: Krones DO NOT READ

AAFC: LET'S GET A SECOND TIER

The Association of Australian Football Clubs say they are now in a position to really push for a second division linked to the A-League.

The AAFC, which represents the National Premier League, have appointed eight national directors and adopted a new constitution.

And chairman Rabieh Krayem believes the restructure will help keep up the pressure for a suitable second tier.

“We want to work with FFA, the state federations, the A-League, PFA and, importantly, our member clubs and players to get the best possible model within the resources available,” he said, following the organisation’s inaugural AGM.

“The experienced football people on our board, such as Gary Marocchi and Dean Hennessey, know that having more young men and women playing football more often is a vital factor in improving our football standards and quality.

“The new board intends to continue in the same way, to ensure that we have a viable and sustainable second tier competition, which will grow to become a key plank in the Australian football landscape for years to come.”

Collectively, NPL clubs have more than 30,000 registered junior and senior players, including the semi-professional sector of the game.

I wonder if we will see them fighting about how YugoSlav each one is.

It will be a short argument considering none of the names in that list of directors is even Slavic let alone Cro/Serb

But you go right on ahead and continue blaming an ethnic minority for holding back football in Australia for half a century by producing the likes of Mark Viduka and funding the top division out of their own pockets for decades

I hope that if they do end up splitting a 2nd division into 2 conferences (which I dont like) that clubs still have to pool money together into a central fund and some of that money is used to help teams that have bigger travel costs.

Lets say 24 teams want to enter, I cant remember the exact amount. The proposed split is Qld, NNSW, NSW, ACT and Vic, Tas, SA and WA (Again :) ACT should be with the south because of player numbers as seen in FFA Cup).

An example :-
North

Cairns (Heat)
Townsville (Fury)
Sunshine Coast
Brisbane x 2
Gold Coast
Canberra team
Sydney x 5

South

Melbourne x 7
Tas team
Adelaide x 2
WA x 2

NNSW have said it would be difficult for them to afford it and as you see ACT should take a Melbourne team spot and an extra team given to Sydney.

Now this split helps teams in Sydney and Melbourne mostly band perhaps SEQ, but not really WA, SA, NQ, FNQ, ACT or Tas to keep costs down that much. They should then be made to subsidize travel for other regions as they gain from having the division.

My main issue with said poster is that if his wonder kid had been selected he would see no issue with the process. Instead his has ramped up his campaign against all those he feels have wronged him without clarifying his bias.

I've been there, i know what it was like to feel rejection due to politics. I accepted it for what it was put my head down, worked harder and found another avenue. I've never made a living from football but ive had an ok career in the game. Krones would be better served helping his boy find another path to the top level he can achieve rather than his constant campaign

That's sound advice, no doubt, but not everyone recovers from such rejection.  Some can put it behind them in a second, and others will dwell on it  until it devours them.  Obviously that is unhealthy, but the reality is that it does happen.

The poster in question has experienced something that parents all over Australia are experiencing every week.

There is usually anger and resentment, but the fact is that there are limited spots in such programs and hundreds of talented kids will miss out.

We can't blame anyone for what is a natural response to such disappointment.

Lions are back in and start in the top division. At the presser the Lions boss was asked to address the audience. He said the usual "we aim to compete in the highest league we can" but also specifically said the club has no ambition to join the HAL.

Obviously can't afford to join the HAL just to lose money endlessly.

Sounds sensible

Well in this context it is. If you are going to trash something and have a clear as day agenda it becomes very appropriate.

The only agenda is to see football go forward not continue going backwards. There is a consensus of opinion in townsville the NPL and the COE have destroyed football in the town. I have always said put it to a vote at registration the academy will be no more. I have also said it is a core belief of my that any registers play should be allowed to be selected for state.

Personally, I don't think it's appropriate that posters should delve into the private lives of other posters.

He has put forward his opinion, it's a common story to be honest, but the system is such that lots of talented kids are always going to miss because there are limited spots.

I am sorry your nephew got rejected because your brother/brother-in-law went to jail for assult?

I tried to get the true story out of Krones before as to why he is so bitter with the world but he constantly used diversionary stories/arguments and wouldn't answer the question.

The truth is, his son wasn't picked up by Fury so he has the shits and blames the whole NPL structure.
