+x> South Melbourne > Heidelberg United > Melbourne Knights > Hume City > South West Sydney Lions > Inner-West Tigers > Blacktown City > Manly United > Wollongong Wolves > Sunshine Coast Fire > Cairns FC > Northern Fury > Adelaide City > West Adelaide > Brisbane Strikers > Western Pride 16 teams that have indicated their desire to join the second division or are directly eligible based on the criteria released by the AAFC. Just an idea of what it would look like based on what we know so far. Gold Coast United have South Hobart have an ambition Marconi one can assume Sydney Olympic also WA FA wanted a team in the AL, they may chose to enter the Championship Brisbane City may apply if their AL bid is unsuccessful. No NNSW will apply imo and its doubtful ACT unless they can get a big backer for one of the clubs.

South Hobarts Darcy St ground doesn't have capacity but have heard the potential for North Hobart Oval thrown around.
Yes cringe all you want it's an oval but I'll say it again it's the same length and width fence to fence as Lakeside(including the running track).
I though I read somewhere selectfew that AAFC were having another meeting with FFA either the week just gone or next. Assume it's next as there was no press release that AAFC.

South Hobart shouldn't rush into agreements it can't sustain. They can grow in their own time. Darcy St is fine. If they need to upgrade, upgrade Darcy st.

@select.
No room at Darcy St to expand.
They'd get a good deal at North Hobart, councils desperate for summer tenants. KGV would be okay aswell.

Season's Greetings. This time 12 months ago, the Association of Australian Football Clubs (AAFC) didn't exist. Thanks to the perseverance and commitment of some passionate football people in Victoria, the first steps towards forming the AAFC were taken in February; the first AAFC Board, comprising representatives from every state-based football federation other than the NT, was elected in July; and we end the year with the some real achievements and good news. All this, amongst what can only be described as rapidly shifting scenarios at the top level of football. These are the highlights since we last wrote. - FIFA has made it abundantly clear in their communication after FFA's AGM, which failed to reach consensus, that AAFC is to be included in the discussions/ negotiations next year about the composition of the FFA Congress. This is a terrific outcome to help us ensure that the views of our member NPL clubs are given a seat at the table and a voice at football's decision-making body in Australia. We are looking forward to meeting with FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation, FFA, the A-League clubs, the PFA and the state federations again when FIFA and AFC are here.
- Despite the FFA CEO's initial public reaction towards The Championship Australia, FFA agreed to meet with us to discuss next steps to the implementation of a national second division. We are delighted that FFA executives are to join us as members of a Championship Working Group, together with the President of the NSW federation, Anter Isaac, and a Board member of the Victorian federation. For AAFC, the working group will include Rabieh Krayem (North Queensland), Christo Patsan (Northern NSW) and Gino Marra (Sydney).
- We also spoke with FFA about another big concern of our members: the cost structure of the NPL and, in particular, the impact on the costs for children. Suffice to say, there's somewhat of a learning curve for FFA on this issue but we came away from the discussion satisfied that they had a better understanding of the issues. We will be continuing to address this as part of the working group's program also.
- Finally, we spoke about a National Youth Championship for NPL clubs to be held for the first time in 2019. This is the brain child of former Technical Director of Brisbane Roar, Ken Stead. We are working closely with him on the design and management of the championship. (See further information below). We wanted to raise this with FFA firstly, so we can obtain their approval to run it, in accordance with FIFA Statutes, and secondly, so they can consider how this tournament can fit into the elite development pathway.
About the National Youth Championship for NPL clubs Planning is still in the early stages, but so you can figure this into your planning for 2019, here are some of the key features. - April 2019 school holidays
- U-13, U-15, U-17 girls
- U-14, U-15, U-16 boys
- Sunshine Coast for girls
- Gold Coast for boys
Members' survey Thank you to all clubs that have completed the members' survey so far. If you haven't already done so, could you please do it before the end of the year? The purpose of the survey is to assist the AAFC Board in continuing to advocate for and pursue other issues - such as the ones we identify above. You can find the survey here.

Exactly The belief that we must wait for a second division is more of an expectation than an obstacle

AAFC AAFC @AAFClubs · 5m 3000 is capacity (not seats). Correct, a 2nd tier will help to influence the upgrade of facilities to grow the code’s footprint across Aust. We are actively working with FFA & Feds on 2nd Tier & on reducing costs of junior participation.

+xI guess it folds on March 2nd then All depends how soon FIFA get here. In the meantime, FFA are continuing talks because they know if they shut it down without good reason, FIFA is on the next plane...

Whats the point of striving for something when there is no clear criteria of what the potential expansion teams need.

The FFA will shut it down, use it as an excuse for 10 teams for the next 20 years and people will continue to defend the Lowy's.

In the meantime, FFA are continuing talks because they know if they shut it down without good reason, FIFA is on the next plane... FIFA's recent intervention in Mali might give an idea of how quickly they might act. They had two joint FIFA/CAF visits for discussions which didn't resolve the impasse before they decided to set up a normalisation committee and the NC was given 4 months to review the constitution, identify the true stakeholder representatives, and organise and hold elections for the executive committee. Nothing in there about sorting out all the stuff that constantly gets talked about here. All of that will be down to the new Board of FFA and then they will have to work through the organisation of the whole show from the beginning. http://www.fifa.com/governance/news/y=2017/m=12/news=normalisation-committee-appointed-for-the-malian-fa-2925523.html

Under “Sporting Integrity” in “The Regulations Governing the Application of the Statutes,” Article 9.1 reads: “A club’s entitlement to take part in a domestic league championship shall depend principally on sporting merit. A club shall qualify for a domestic league championship by remaining in a certain division or by being promoted or relegated to another at the end of a season.”
