If A League teams only played state league teams, and games in the ACL, it would be a loss to the sport

I don't see why it is such a crime that Liverpool or Manchester United would come to our shores with their line up of stars (or coaching staff with a bit of run in their legs) and play a game here

It isn't an insult to the game. It isn't a bad thing. Brazil coming here to play Argentina is a strange move. I can say we have definitely outgrown the need for exhibition matches

But really? All this commotion over a football team doing what they are designed for???

Football fans crying about a football match. It really is the icing on the cake

It is what it is.

I'm not surprised it's not worth much for TV, same as Mariners end of season games in a League with no relegation

Foster condensing attitude, Culina and many other co hosts where very negative about the game...

lets talk about some co-promotion eg on the Central coast at the time of the SBS rights the biggest rating local radio station on the Coast 2GO on match days  ran a "'Count Down to Mariners" and essentially from three to four hours from kick off every single break be it news or ad break they tried to talk about the game. They were local jocks and needed lots of help....never once did SBS come on and help the jocks and promote their program. SBS ran a product that was not inclusive to non knowledgeable casual Football fans....

Your kidding right broadcasters want the best games keep giving them not the best games FFA never gave SBS or hardley ever the best games always keeping the best games for Fox on Saturday night.... That would have pissed off any FTA CEO...

Well the best game was always saved for Fox on Saturday night the big derbies i.e.WSW V SFC, SFC V MV & MV V ADL, MV V MC... As a CEO of a FTA station I would want these games... but FFA kept them for Fox only.

i'll try to keep this brief, because I feel dumber everytime i read one of your posts.

- you say that Foster was "condensing", whatever the fark that means. If you mean "condescending" then you're a moron. Foster is one of the biggest football fans in this country, and like him or hate him, he provides polished analytical commentary for Australian football. More of people like him please.
- Culina was a "negative" commentator, yes, instead of being a rapid cheerleader like you
- your suggestion that SBS should have "helped the (local CC) jocks and promote their program" is seriously one of the more stoopid things I've read. And that's sayiong something. You blame SBS for not giving some crappy local radio show a freebie? Is this the real reason Gallop bagged SBS on morning radio? FMD.
- SBS got its allocated games, because that what SBS purchased in its negotiations with the FFA and Fox. I don't why "That would have pissed off any FTA CEO". And I don't know why you don't understand this basic concept of negotiations which form the basis of a contract.
- If SBS wanted more high profile games (derbies etc) then it could have paid more money and negotiated to get those games. It didn't. End of.

My issue isn't these teams coming over. my issue is when state governments spend taxpayers money on these exhibition games, when the country is crying out for football infrastructure (particularly in the southern states where rectangular stadiums are rare). What do we have in Victoria apart form AAMI Park? Lakeside stadium perhaps, but if we're gonna expand here and have teams in the second division, we're gonna need 2-3 more football specific stadiums that hold 15,000+ (one in SE Melbourne and another in Geelong to start with).

Its a bit like the world cup bid really

Fans were upset at the $45m spent on the world cup bid. Imagine that kind of money filtering into grassroots we all cried

It was either the world cup bid or nothing

Similarly: It is not the government giving the FFA money and the FFA choosing to spend it on Liverpool. Its either these games with government backing, or nothing
