Membership numbers have gone up by roughly 3k this last week. Of course the number would be higher than that considering 5 of the clubs haven't yet released their figures. Usually it's a sign they are bad if they don't even feel confident enough to release. Sydney FC are set to hopefully break a membership record this season. Should do considering they are reigning premiers and champ. Wanderers also haven't released an update since last week, so i'm assuming that figure is probably a little outdated.

For Victory, the cut-off date for reserved seating and active area renewals is tomorrow. I'd hazard to guess that there won't be many spots available for people wanting to join the south end, but will be heaps for the north end.

+xMelbourne city with dismal numbers I'm hearing Really? What are we talking about here? To be fair even this time last year, they hadn't released numbers, so who knows the reasons. From what i'm hearing, they are not spending enough time and money getting involved in the community. Not sure how true that is. Obivously they are investing a lot in the actual training side of things etc, but I don't know how good they are at actually immersing themselves in the community. Even as exposure goes are they actually getting their brand out there? For example for New York City they had huge banners around the city with David Villa etc. Are their any posters of Cahill out and about? What are their memberships like compared to last year too? Still just ass expensive? Really need to lower their prices if they want to compete.

TBH City are pretty unlikable for the typical eurosnob. They have a bunch or players that carry on like porkchops and are very easy to dislike. I've heard quiet a few people say this about them as general observers

I was reading this debate on social media the other day between SFC and WSW fans. Typical stuff, Sydney is sky blue, no it's red and black, only unemployed follow WSW, we won the ACL, but we've won 3 domestic, we have more members, but we get more to games, say it to my face MF and you're a dead man etc etc etc.
Then this one SFC fan went to some lengths to explain why WSW has more members than SFC, which went something along the lines of Nepean FA offering free WSW membership as part of their player registration and this helps boost the WSW's membership numbers, otherwise SFC has more paid up members.
Anyone care to confirm or deny?

I'd be surprised if they did. They are one of the medium size associations in Sydney but with 12,670 registered players it would either cost them a fortune or WSW would miss out on a fortune.

Renewed our membership with the Mariners yesterday and asked the membership officer how we where going and he said just over 500 above the same time last year... we have just over 3, 900 as of today and that is more that 1 September last year as per the membership officer I was speaking to.

The Cahill novelty factor will have worn off. And no big name signings that will put bums on seats. Case in point was the season after the David Villa circus. Their membership figurers dropped by 25%.

I know that SFC offers free membership to U13 or something(junior Blues) that aren't counted in the tally. If WSW count the free juniors in the membership it would account for a fair amount. SFC also has SFS members who account for a few thousand on game day, especially for some of the bigger matches.

Victory, Wanderers and City all likely to be down on memberships after good numbers last year. But everyone else is likely to be over on last years numbers I recon.

Then add the two that are unofficial:
Mariners ...... 4,400 Roar ............. 4,000 Nix ................ ? City ............... ? Adelaide........ ?
That's around 62k which ain't bad considering all the BS.

Rumours that Vi$ion City won't have a high membership this year.
Wanderers got 20,000 in March this year nearing the end of the season. WSW had 16-17 seated members in stadiums. There were ANZ stadium specific memberships for 5 games only. At least we don't have pet memberships like another club in Sydney.
We need the A-League website to report memberships that will be at stadiums, not out-of-Towner memberships included.

Agreed @Paul01
Although we're unlikely to get that resolution while the smoke n mirrors team lives on at the FFA. Membership should have resolution on:
- full season ticketed game day members - part season game day membership (3-5 games etc) - corporate members (corporate box holders) - stadium members - non-ticketed/other form of memberships (Pet, baby, dead relative etc)

Given that their team isn't shit this year, I'm surprised we've seen a dropoff in Newcastle numbers.

+xGiven that their team isn't shit this year, I'm surprised we've seen a dropoff in Newcastle numbers. The spoon twice in the last three years and no finals since 2010 I think. I think the members and crowds in Newcastle have to see something in the HAL proper to come back. They often have a good pre-season but don't seem to deliver in the HAL. I think they may struggle defensively through the middle. Boogs and NTS are slow at the back and Kantarovski and Ugarkovic in front are also on the slow side. Going forward they seem to have a few options though.

I think Jets have gone with a "safe" coach and several "safe" signings, there's everything for jets fans to feel hopefully for the new season but nothing to get really excited about.
