Our PL3 club Gladesville Ryde Magic played fellow PL3 combatants Dunbar Rovers tonight. 2nd last game of Rd5. Winners 2-1 - late pen to us saved it going to extra time. Good crowd, Dunbar even though a training night brought along about 3 cheer squads, great atmosphere.

+xAmazing result for Richmond. SL1 knocking out an NPL. No SM or HC is gunna feel weird I dont consider it an upset, Hume have had an extraodinary run of home cup ties over the years. They were always going to be vulnerable on the road. Heidelberg are already in, if bentleigh and avondale join you have the current top 3 qualified.

Yep, wealthy Greek bloke from memory. Basically single-handedly funded their promotion run from what I've been told.
Apparently have no fans, or very few anyway.

Interesting the constant rise regards to the competition each Div in that case getting to PL1. Either way good on them must be paying for good players to get there.

Many have stated the agenda behind large investment is to get on the national stage of the Cup. What a shock. Teams improving and investing their own money

Two pretty surprising semi finalists in SA with Cumberland and Modbury Jets (both State League 1). I live pretty close to Modbury so hope they can get through would be huge for them!. Gonna be nice to see a different team representing SA, Comets are probably favourites at this time but to be honest I hope its not them - just spend a bit too much for my liking. Hope its Croydon or Modbury representing us.
It will be Cumberland vs Comets and Jets vs Croydon - both at neutral venues played on the 22nd and 23rd of May.

Here is the story of the two State League 1 sides so far:
Cumberland started their journey with an 8-0 thumping of State League 2 side Modbury Vista (who share a ground with the Jets), before advancing to a clash with Salisbury United away from home which they won thanks to another double from striker Craig Shearer (also scored two against Vista). Cumberland then faced State League 2 opposition in the form of Adelaide University SC, a side who have fought above expectations this season in SL2. It was a close game but United eventually ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a late winner to advance to the Quarter Finals. Cumberland faced an NPL side for the first time in the competition, but were victorious, winning 2-1 in Extra Time at AA Bailey Reserve.
Modbury Jets meanwhile started their FFA Cup journey with two ties against cashed up amateur opposition. The complicated structure of the SAASL meant that many believed Elizabeth Downs and Brahma Lodge were favourites against the State League 1 side, and Jets found themselves 4-1 down with ten minutes to go against Elizabeth but they unbelievably turned it around to win 6-4 in Extra Time. Against Brahma Lodge they knew what to expect, and edged it in a tight game with goals from Charlie Bowman and Shaun McGreevy once again - former A-League players Chad Bugeja and Matt Mullen were on the scoresheet for Brahma. Gawler away was the next trip for Modbury, and they ran out 3-0 winners in a much easier victory. Up next for them was Seaford Rangers away from home, completing a challenging bunch of away journeys this trip took them right to the South of Adelaide, they ended up taking the victory - 1-1 in normal time, 3-3 in Extra Time but penalties sent them through to the Semi Finals.

+xRockdale v Sydney United seems like a big fixture! well yer but for Suns leaking goals more (24) than GF and United higher on table but its the Cup and depends how many 20's are thrown into the line up I suppose. Our PL3 1sts, could have drawn APIA lol but whats next BC, gonna be a huge challenge for our boys with injuries and all but I'm sure we'll put in our best, making Rd6 is already a bonus.

What's the reason for the forfeit? A bit strange to forfeit so late in the competition.

That is embarrassing but I have no idea why but I shall find out. I know were struggling with injuries but yer, Rd6 throw on 20's 18's give them a run but I'm guessing being we have 3 big games on Saturday is the priority.

Very strange, even though it’s against Blacktown and they may be short on players, it would be worth having a go rather than forfeit.
Since Sutherland is out I’ll be watching Kirrawee against Tarrawanna tonight.

yer I agree always worth having a go. Pretty sure 1st's injuries and preserving players incl likely 20's for Saturdays game. I don't agree with this nor do the people I know I spoken with, just as my thoughts why not give the 20's and more so promising 18's a taste vsing PL1, great for them, great exposure to the players/supporters and to the club. An opportunity not taken very sad. edit....from our website : It is with great regret that we have been provided no alternative other than to forfeit our Round 6 FFA Cup match against Blacktown City FC.Our playing roster this week has been devastated by injury, illness and incidents emanating from the weekend fixture. Our three senior goalkeepers are unavailable due to long term injury, suspension and work commitment.FNSW advised that there is provision to postpone the match but it requires both Clubs to agree and for the match to be re-scheduled on a synthetic field for 23 May 2018. However, should both Clubs not agree to the postponement then GRMFC would need to forfeit the match. Our request for a postponement of the match was declined by Blacktown City FC.GRMFC made further attempts to form a competitive team for the originally scheduled match but our position has not improved and we will not be able to field a competitive team. It is a pity that the opposition could not be more considerate and we acknowledge the decision to forfeit has been a devastating blow to all GRMFC club members. There has been great commitment and effort by everyone at GRMFC to reach Round 6 of the FFA Cup.It is a decision that we have tried to avoid but we must concede to the circumstances. We extend our apologies to all affected by this outcome.
