have to say I'm quite surprised this game is being played in Malaysia considering Australia is closer by distance. you'd think Syria would try to get every advantage they can by playing it in the middle east. you'd expect we'd get a few numbers to this game in Malaysia compared to if it was played in the middle east.

Quite surprised its in Malaysia too, I guess it has worked well for them thus far. They have been playing out of Krubong, about an hour and a half out of KL (3 hours drive from Singapore) so it should be interesting to see how we approach the preparation.

Whys the game in Malaysia? I was hoping for the middle east to be honest, I'd love to see us play well in the middle east, just once.

How far is that from the airport? Is there a direct train or connections? I ask because the Airasia flight from Aus gets in at 4.15pm on game day. ($400 return.) Ideally that'd be the flight to get otherwise you need to take the day off before as well as Thursday and Friday.

Try and get in the day before, if your schedule permits.

Nowhere from any official sources has the first leg been confirmed for Malaysia. Talk on twitter saying Syria is trying to get it played in Qatar which from an Aussie point of view am not sure what suits us more. Apparently we will know by Monday. One of the reasons they havent played the last stage 'home games' in neighbouring Arab countries is because no one will host them because the national team is a Bashar Al Assad aligned group. Suprised Iran doesn't take them in.

Would it be normal for the FFA, as the away federation, to sell tickets to the general public? Did the FFA sell tickets to the general public for the Japan game and other away qualifiers during this campaign?

Here are all the tidbits I have been able to gather, I am pretty keen because I already booked my flights, accommodation and everything except a ticket to the match, which is the whole point of the exercise. 1) I emailed reception@ffa.com.au and they said "Ticketing information for this match is yet to be finalised. I will add you to the waiting list and provide further information once confirmed."
2) In the case of Australia's most recent away WCQ in Japan FFA did not sell any tickets so let's assume that is not the done thing. They posted information for how Australian fans could buy tickets http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/article/japan-v-caltex-socceroos-ticket-info/zwgyid2kpfks1sdreicbbct3rIn an 80,000 seat stadium, 3000 seats were made available for Aussie fans, however nothing stopped Aussie fans from buying any of the other tickets that were available to the general public through normal Japanese channels. 3) In at least some of Syria's WCQ games in Malaysia entry was free to anyone and everyone who walked up to the stadium :)

Any one heading up from Singapore to Melacca?
Bit over two hours in a rental, or four hrs by bus.

I ask the hotel I am staying at and they emailed me this.
I manage to speak to the person in charge for Hang Jebat Stadium, he mentioned that the ticket will only be selling on the game day itself. No online selling as well. Ticket counter will start selling the ticket from 10:00am.
So see you there I guess.

So that corroborates what the hotel said.
