@ paladiscious
Agreed. Not to turn this in to an FFA knocking thread (but) we all know they're only concentrating on one thing right now. Leveraging the Matildas, growing the W League, expanding the A League, a national second division, could all be work in progress right now ... instead all the energy goes in to reducing the number of votes in congress to the smallest possible number. sigh ..

I'm pretty sure they are engaged in many aspects of getting the HAL season started, plus running national teams like the Matildas and the Socceroos with recent games just past and coming up taking up time. But why is it a surprise anyway? All over the world organizations and governments (including ours) divert more of their time just before the elections.

+x+xIt was a really good game and glad to see the Matildas capitalising on all the (well deserved) attention. Wonder if we'll ever see the W-League season pulled earlier? Would be great for it to run August to a grand final just before Christmas. Dream big, we might even get a full home and away regular season! With the success of the Matildas and attention given to AFLW the FFA are just mad for not pumping up the W-League. I think if the W-League season was a full home and away fixture season, i think more people will watch the w-league and even more the standard of football will rise even further. Make it happen FFA!

@ paulc
It's not really a surprise as that is the FFAs track record, they only seem able to do one thing at a time.
The mechanics of putting a season on is just routine right - they have an army if administration to do that. It's the bigger picture things they seem to stuff up all the time and there's always an excuse - everyone knew the AFLW was coming and yet it seemed to catch the FFA by surprise and the new pay deal, while welcome, is a year late.
For me it just underpins the importance of lightening their load - the HAL, WL and Div2 can be run by independent bodies under their supervision leaving them to do all the other stuff

Agree, that their work load needs to be lightened and handing the management over to an independent HAL run committee is certainly the way to do that but there's more at stake here.

+xYep, nope. I may be in the minority, but ain't never hit a volley that good ever. (Not when I've been awake anyway) To be fair I can definitely say I have a hit a better volley than that before. The problem is I also missed about 15,000 of them. Half of them fresh airies, the other half didn't even get close to the corner post.

+xBigger crowd than the AFL final. Top effort. While I love a good AFL fail disproportionately more than the next bloke, it was apparently their worst finals crowd since WW1. Really it just shows how pathetic GWS are (and again something I disproportionately rejoice in)

+xFunny reading comments online about how it was such a great volley by DeVanna but the truth is that probably every member of this forum has hit a better shot than that. It only went in because the goalkeeper was female, even Janjetovic would have saved that. If enough of us chose to identify as female 442 would be able to put together a side that would win the women's World Cup. You are really a special kind of idiot aren't you!!

I'm guessing Crusader was just trying to wind people up (?) but yeah, I watch Socceroos games too and think how many times i have put in a better corner/cross/ shot etc etc I just ignore all the times I never did. Anyone can hit a volley, it's doing it when it counts with your one chance that makes it a good goal. Though bad crosses and especially corners do give me the shits when watching professionals. There really is no excuse.

+xCan't watch the damn thing outside the country. Get onto Twitter and search up Matildas. There's highlights there and I don't think they're geoblocked.

Both games have been very entertaining to watch. It's exciting to see the stature of the Matilda's players is growing day by day.

Mooy and Kerr have to be so far above in terms of quality Aussie players going around at the moment.
