+xWow he has a great shot on him How many did he miss between each one he got on target? If he spends most of games blazing over the top of the stands the odd spectacular goal is not going to be worth it. However if he chooses his moments well and hits the target quite often then it makes him far more dangerous player. I don't know which it is, do you?

He really should have been an in-cap signing. How much are they paying him ffs?

€250k is about A$375k which is not bad but still puts him at the top end of the HAL pay bracket. If it's true then he's a marquee purely for cap purposes and would most likely drop in the cap next year as it increases or Timmy moves on.

How could $400k possibly make him a marquee man, for sure city would have 2 players getting paid more than that.

@ Tambo
It would be rare to have more than one player on $300k+ under the cap. Most of the current players were signed when the cap was $2.65m which is an average of about $125k each, with the minimum salary in place it doesn't leave a lot to pay big salaries to many players. Typically there's 7 on minimum, 7 or 8 on mid range, and 6 or 7 on high salaries

+xHow could $400k possibly make him a marquee man, for sure city would have 2 players getting paid more than that. Doubt it. Cahill rumoured to be on 400k this year in what was a heavily front ended deal, with Bruno allegedly earning $1.1m as marquee. Wouldnt surprise if Budders was heavily front ended as well to take him back under the cap next season.

+xHow could $400k possibly make him a marquee man, for sure city would have 2 players getting paid more than that. From the same Polish reporter who first broke the rumours and followed the story, he said that he will be on €200k ($300k Aud) per season for 2 years. He is not a real marquee just listed as one for accounting purposes. Currently Bruno Fornaroli is the only City player on above $500k. Although CFG have alot of money, Melbourne are on a budget. CFG are a business and run like one, Melbourne are on a budget, there's no point putting heaps of money into HAL as it is currently a black hole for owners always posting losses. I think CFG have learned this too since they are spending less players. In addition with the $9m wage last season 60% of that was cahill only, and CFG only payed about $2m the rest by Foxtel and FFA (which I still don't know how that's allowed in a professional football league).

FFA part was $500k tops and was a separate contract for doing promotional shit http://forum.insidesport.com.au/2403838/The-Cahill-Content-ThreadIt was allowed because it's a private franchise venture and all the franchisees agreed to it.

With Fornaroli out, City's squad on paper look so average. The excitement of the Novillo/Mooy era is long gone

+x+xSo after watching 2 minutes of this vid I'm officially down with this mf Welcome to the aleague Doesn't half mind a screamer. Will be exciting to watch, although city need a playmaker more than a bloke that can smack them really hard. That was my thought, unless the new coach abandons pretty football altogether and just goes long and direct having this guy cahill and fornaroli on the pitch at once is a very top heavy attack with little playmaking ability. Still the first few minutes of that vid make this guy look awesome. I know highlights don't tell the story but considering he still has lots of good years in him he looks pretty good to me.

+xA new low for the a league - this guy should be on peanuts, how is he marquee? He is playing in the polish league - which their currency alone suggests that he wouldn't be on a massive salary due to the cost of living in Poland. His cv is poorer than most foreigners let alone marquees and he has no big clubs or international caps to his name. I'm praying he fails a medical or something because this is pathetic. He might turn out to be a player but how he is not in the cap is beyond me. Average wage in the Polish league in 2014 was not quite double the A-League. The average attendance last year was roughly 3000 less than the A-League. Metrics :hehe:

But yeah all in all not that many exciting established players in their squad this season. Cahill is about to retire, Fornaroli isn't fit and Brandon is coming off an injury.

He was absolutely hopeless apart from that one shot on goal. It helped get them points this game but he has to play much better if he is going to help them get points in the future

From reports I've heard and simply seeing his movement during the games he's far from being fit. Looks about 60-70% at the moment, fitness wise.
