I'd play Arzani from the start. Who knows how long he'll last? That's what makes it risky in bringing him on - will he be good for 20min? 40min? Just start him, and take him off when he's fucked.
Combine that with whichever striker the coaching staff, based on training, is more likely to last the majority of the match and able to put away some crosses from Arzani and Behich. I doubt Cahill would go 70min+ if actually pressing, Juric doesn't sound a certainty for fitness, so either Maclaren or Kruse are likely. Kruse might not be a bad call actually - I don't rate his finishing at all, but again it should come down to what they're seeing in training. If we put some chances away and decide to shore things up, Kruse can shift wide when Arzani comes off if it's an option we need.
I hope Peru fail to shut Rogic down and he gets some space near the top of the box. His shots from that area are as sweet as they come.

+xRumours of Kruse up top with Arzani on the wing. I was asking for this at HT in the France game. Used to be one of the most fouled players in Europe, and with the rate they're handing out penalties this World Cup, we could be getting Jedinak the Golden Boot if we play our cards right!

I wouldn't be too concerned about the France v Denmark game. First, it's beyond our control and second, after what England and Belgium have done, they will want to make a solid win to make a statement (probably aiming for 3-0 or something like that).

Putting arzani up against one of the best RBs in the beginning might not be the best choice. A full second half(against a guy with a depleted gas tank) or starting him on the other side might be better.

+xMy only question with Arzani starting is can he defend? Can go forward. What's he like at marking and tracking back. No he is not good at defending even in the A League let alone World Cup. He will no doubt improve in this area with experience. Great going forward and perhaps this is why he has not been given the chance to start or come on earlier.

Simon Hill gave hia verdict on the squad based on BvM. No change likely to the starting line-up except Juric in for Nabbout and Cahill to come on as Tomi's replacement in the second half. He also pointed out that Kruse is doing a lot of ball to make Behich look good. Perhaps Arzani might get 4 more minutes. I expect a double change Arzani/Cahill for Kruse/Juric at about 65 minutes.

This game is so stupidly unpredictable, the contrasting styles and situations make for a really interesting match up.
I think our best chance is to play a conservative game in the first half, as in the France game, in order to take the juice out of the game and out of a Peru side that will no doubt be out to prove something. If we take the sting out of them through a patient game in the first half, we can try to wrestle control and nab a goal or two in the 2nd half...I think that we won't win a high scoring shootout against them, they've simply got more quality in the final third.
Absolutely wouldnt start arzani because of fitness concerns and defensive frailties. I also think that against Advincula it could be a bit harsh on Arzani to throw him in from the start. Kruse has copped a lot, but he has been very good defensively and is always making dangerous runs which could be good on the counter in a more open game.
I also might be tempted to leave Rogic on the bench just due to fitness and to have him running at tired legs in the 2nd half when we are pushing for a win.
Bringing rogic, arzani and cahill off the bench with 25-30 to go could be a masterstroke if we are still in the game.
Just a quick one too that Leckie has gone to another level, cant believe how far he has come since his a-league days. Wouldnt be surprised if he moves to an even stronger german club in the next year or two

I was speaking to my Cousin's husband yesterday who lives in France and he said he read in the French press that the French team are going to be resting players and using their B team against Denmark. That isn't ideal for the Socceroo's.

That isn't ideal for the Socceroo's. I read in L'Equipe of 6 players being rested. Not ideal, but could be worse. The French aren't exactly lacking depth. And those who get a go will have everything to prove.

https://mobile.twitter.com/Demivolee_com/status/1010918325164134400/photo/1Their probable team is still a very strong one. I would still expect this team to put on a performance.

Change of GK? Weird. I'm sure Giroud will want to prove that he's the starter rather than naively trying to play Griezmann in the middle of a 3. And you have to think Lemar will see this as his only chance to displace Dembele or Mbappe in the starting line up (not sure the coach will see it that way though).

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

What sort of special fuckwit was the first journo? England isn't involved in the game at hand. He just rocks up to hang shit on our country and sledge our football team.

France still have decent players but a full strength Denmark could beat the French reserves. Do France really want to risk playing Croatia?
Our game is so confusing. Peru will die trying to best us. If we're switched on we should have good chances. I'm concerned about fitness if we're not rotating. Kind of crazy not to start Luongo, Irvine or both.
I'd even go as far as Arzani and Petratos wings and Leckie in the middle. Maclaren and his fresh legs and instinct would also be a good start.

Having petratos and arzani on the wings puts too much pressure on the back 4 imo. They both can't defend. Leckie is good in that area and kruse just ok on the other side. Arzani with his offensive talent is a risk you have to take to create chances up front. About 50% of the time, you're opponents in possession in which petratos, arzani and others offer very little effort in pressuring the opponents backline in an attempt to get the ball back.
Going forward... Gersbach or an improved Smith (both good at going forward but not so great on one on one defense) could play as winger( not a wing back) on the other side of leckie which may be an option for the future to sure up the defense. (Much fitter and are also better at crossing the ball into the box) Arzani or Borello would be the offensive threats that would play a little higher up beside a centre/attacking forward or striker. (Rogic, Petratos, Folami, Nabbout, Juric, Maclaren, Taggart etc). The lone striker we have up top now in a 4-2-3-1 is not getting results.
Eg(future) Risdon/Sainbury/Spiranovic/Behich -4 Leckie/Mooy/Luongo/Gersbach -4 (Rogic/Petratos/Maclaren/Taggart))/(Arzani/Borello/Folami/Nabbout) -2
