And of course you’re gonna get a jab every year, maybe two.

Do anyone think it was a one off deal?

You get the flu jab every year don’t you, even if you’re not scared of the flu killing you why do you want to have a week of misery.

Heard talk it might be combinable flu and Covid. Even if not well isn’t that just stiff shit.

I mean isn’t that something to whinge about, a couple of visits to the doc per year. Call Trump!

On a more serious note the main lesson was listen to the health professionals and do all you can to reduce the risks.
Wear a mask, get a jab, follow the rules.

The good thing is the development of MRNA vaccines, which might ultimately might have a vaccine printer in may pharmacies updated to the latest vaccine formula over the internet in 5 minutes.

A lot of things in the area of medicine and food are becoming computer data processing.
We can make proteins which don't occur in nature.

I never had a flu jab, and I’ve had the flu once in a decade… funnily enough it was March last year… worst flu ever…

Worse weekend of my life, and I slept through most of it.

Get the jab every year since.

Never again if I can help it.

I thought it was cook your bat for at least 15mins in an oven at 180degrees.....

Yeah… but…  It  was a ‘fllu’… It  was Australia, Covid wasn’t really a ‘big deal’ in Aus at the time… might’ve been Feb actually… I would have to have gone to a doctor… and Aussie blokes don’t go to the doctor for the flu…

Irrespective, still not being able to get tested for antibodies in October 21  is just another thing that makes ‘cynics’ ask questions…

I know of a bloke, not close personally but I’ve met him on several occasions who got Covid.

Works with my nephew, they install private lifts and those chair- stair lifts that sort of thing. They have an office in LA and this bloke was over there last year, 2020, initially only a few weeks but then he got Covid. Which he blew through seemingly unaffected. Then he couldn’t get back into Aus for a while because of lockdown and quarantine but as there was work over there he stayed a few months.

Get’s back here beginning of 21 all is well, about March he starts getting short of breath and one night his missus finds him collapsed on the stairs (2 story home).

Taken to hospital, his lungs are scarred and blistered from Covid, he has “long Covid”.

This bloke is fit, 40 odd,  played competitive sports all his life. Thankfully because of age and fitness his docs reckon he’ll make a full recovery, in time, but it won’t be soon.

My nephew and work went around and installed one of those chair-stair lifts so he get to his bedroom.

I’m told he’s down an alarming amount of body weight and his dark brown to almost black hair of 6 months ago is now completely silver.

Be in no doubt, this is not a flu or a cold, it’s Covid 19 and it will f*** you up.

Granddaughter  in the UK got long covid. Young and fit, in her twenties. Not something to be taken lightly and as she found out, is not as rare as people think and affects people to varying  degrees. Unfortunately  these are the things  tha don't  show up in the statistics and are overlooked by us amateurs

Thanks mate. Definitely improving. You always wonder will there be longer term effects from lung disease.  The strange thing is she got it, got over it, then tested positive again. Her partner who had similar symptoms  never got it. Pre Delta of course.

SARS, bird flu, pig flu Ebola and all the rest never had the potential of global pandemic that Covid did. Many if not most of them are more deadly, which combined with their low contagion or rarity (compared to Covid) was actually an advantage - people die before they can spread…. well… good.

That’s why there was no plan… from Govs…. Health NGO’s always had one but nobody listens to them. They want to defund them instead.

Covid was almost the perfect storm, long incubation, highly contagious….. But thankfully low  mortality.

Change that last sentence and it’s a different game.

So yes, Covid was the pandemic we had to have

I agree that there may be a much worse virus coming. But I think we are better at controlling it. Even with the political mistakes we have done very well to reduce the deaths.

I did think it was only a matter of time before a virus whiled us out. But watching how well we have done I think we are too technically advanced to have that happen.

I’ll add that viruses rarely if ever have a long incubation rate, are highly contagious and high mortality. It may be that it is not possible for a virus to evolve in that way.

It is however good that this pandemic has helped the world to prepare for the next one.

They fooled us a second time telling us 2 jabs increases efficacy significantly
Now they are talking about 3rd jabs and using words like "lifetime" etc

I think its bloody time the health authorities start revealing what the "underlying health issues" are with all the deaths being reported.
Lets face it, we only have around 5-15 per day. It wouldn't be difficult to just say that 4 people in their 70's who dies had this and that as underlying health conditions....

The fear of death has run its course.

In the next 2-5 years we will see a significant spike in cancer related deaths - all because our health system and lockdown restrictions has been fixated on Covid19 and failed to acknowledge the significantly higher risk posed by cancer.

You cannot lock yourself out of cancer.  You cannot vaccinate yourself against it.

No doubt we will hear the usual rubbish from the health people that the cancer centres and screening centres are all still open - yada yada blah blah.
But the reality is that when you impose such drastic movement restrictions in this nanny state and country, you simply fekk with people's mindset and they psychologically make decisions that adversely impact on their usual health routines.

From experience being in my 70's, nudging 80 is an underlying health condition.  Seriously though I'd like some more detail. The doctor lists type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnoea, obesity etc as health conditions but people can live long lives with these problems.
One of the things not talked about is the therapeutics associated with covid have improved immensely, changing the outcome stats from the early days
