so far:

Melbourne Victory --- Keisuke Honda (done deal)
Sydney FC --- Samuel Eto'o? Torres (lost)
Brisbane Roar --- Mathieu Flamini (a maybe)
Central Coast Mariners --- Usain Bolt

At the very least that’s a lot of marketing activity which is really what this is all about.

If Flamini signs, apparently Bakries have promised to stop destroying Indonesia

Brisbane Roar could be the next club to take the plunge with their hopes of luring former Arsenal and AC Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini to the A-League having been renewed in recent days.

The 34-year-old is understood to have turned down the Roar last week but had a change of heart over the weekend.

The latest pitch to him involves the potential for him to expand his business interests in Australia.

Flamini is the co-founder of a biofuels company, GF Biochemicals, which has offices or plants in the US, Italy and the Netherlands.

It's the worlds 13th biggest by GDP, about the size of Russia and bigger than Spain.

@ Eldar

Yeah nice try; I’m just saying his potential move to Australia is not hinging on his business interests.

if you’re in business don’t go to the 13th biggest economy go to the other 12 ... the EU and USA are about 15x the size of Australias economy; he could play in either of those. Or go to China, Japan or India all of which are bigger and he could play football there too and not be stuck at the arse-end of the world.

Next journo’s will be saying he’s moving here “for the quality of life” err, have you been to France? Better quality of life and bigger economy lol.

Well my point is that Australia isn't the small, insignificant economy you make it out to be.

If we can divert even a small fraction of the money that goes towards the Rugby codes into Football, then we could go a long way towards having a very decent league and attracting some very decent international players.
