then how come a few AU v MV games over the years have passed 16,000?

A lot of empty seats up top behind both goals.

There is 1k capacity standing.

There was a lot of people standing around the fence of the concourse which would have offset some of the empty seats.

I don't think the 16k figure has been exceded for many years- they don't like people standing now.

out of curiosity, why isn't WSW v Victory at Bankwest this week? would have brought a fair bit of interest. 

Moving back to Bankwest this season was never in contention. I assume we wanted to get a season by season deal and this would have been a once off. Was probably also factoring in any potential delays in the build. 

But apparently it's cold in winter and no one would go in winter.


Or is that another excuse?

One code is THE biggest sport in Australia with massive support within the general population and media, and is engrained into the cultural fabric of Australian society.
