Justin Langer intimated that  both Handscomb and Finch will be in Melbourne. Has Marsh saved his place?  If Langer is being honest with himself then he has to admit Handscomb is what we all think.. a liability. He is playing back to balls he should be coming forward to because he camps himself deep in his crease. Madness. How can you play off the front foot when you are so far back? These Indian bowlers are no fools. They are experienced professionals who know how to sniff out a dud.The problem with dropping Handscomb is we are without one of only two r/hs in our top.

This is the batting 6  that should be picked. CA is unlikely to punish anyone for winning a Test match. So expect no changes.

+ bowlers.

Missed the last hour of pay, but agree with most of what you suggest.

I'd like to sack Marsh. He has had 36 tests to average 35 runs  or less, and is 35 years of age. This equals a modest failure.

I think I'd put Renshaw in, out of his top form, and bat Finch lower. Renshaw, for those who've not seen him bat in Asia, and a few seasons ago in the domestic Test Oz team, oozes class,  bats time and has  good technique.

Joe Burns has also been in form and must be a contender.

Bowlers Hazle, Starc and Lyon ( most valuable player in the team) walk in.

Cummins - selectors need to look at 130 kph accurate trundlers like  Tremain, Boland ( I get these two confused when I watched them live a  few weeks ago), Gabe Bell, Jackson Bird, Michael Neser.

If they want an express bowler, like Cummins was, Stanlake is very fast and potent, but has no stamina.

Richardson and Meredith are probably quicker than Cummins is now.

Meredith's action doesn't take much out of him, but he is very inexperienced. From the  naked eye Meredith is easily the fastest bowler I've seen in the Shield at Bellerive this season having watched Tas, Vic, Q'land and Vic.

Pattinson wasn't allowed to bowl when I watched Victoria play Tas - yet he was on the pitch.

Maybe an all rounder like Stoinis could replace Marsh too at number 7, with Paine batting at 6?

I agree with you, Baggers.

A year ago I thought he was going to our be the best pace bowler of all, but losing an average elf 7kph per ball certainly takes his ferocity  away. Iyt isn coo-indicdende that he has taken few wicket this series. By his own very high  standards of a year ago in Asia and the start of the Ashes, he is innocuous.

His new future may be as an all rounder. All the pundits claim he is a talented better. Paddy should put more work into it and plan to be a future all rounder He could reinvent himself to be more of a stock bowler, bowling line and length  at 125 -135 kph per hour, to give the strike bowlers a rest.

The pundits claim Paddy has bowled well - I don' t often do it, but I disagree. From the age of 18 he has been mooted as potentially one of our future greats, like Pattinson.

Bowlers like McGrath lost as much pace over just one winter, but he was just as effective 10 kph slower. Another whose pace peaked at 19, was Craig McDermott. He also lost pace very quickly, but was still successful at lower speeds.

The speed gun shows a lot.

Do you see Pat as a future all rounder DC.. he is only averaging @19 after 16 matches. There is scope for that to rise as he has a relatively sound technique. He looks confident and ready for the battle at the crease.  If there is anyway he can revert to express pace I want that in preference I have to admit. Speaking of all rounders.. Mike Vaughan and Mike Hussey are both pushing for the return of Mitch Marsh in Melbourne if the MCG is a road like in last Ashes..

Well I would be embarrassed if I was an Indian supporter watching their pace attack bat.
What a load of wimps, reminds me of the 1998 South African V Australia test at the WACA, which I was at,
SA tail batting, Donald doing everything he could to get out of the road of the ball, Ntini comes in (the token black in those early days)
in his first test opposite Donald & just stands and takes everything bowled at him without a flinch - He got hammered.
Wasn't a great bowler in that test but 10 out of 10 for courage & he carried on becoming an OK bowler.
The Indian tail should watch a video of that, or just watch our bowlers get in behind the ball.
Want to see Handscomb replaced with an all rounder, Stoinis is being mentioned, but the thought of grooming Cummings into
an all rounder has a lot of appeal & something I never thought of.
With him as an all rounder and another quick in, the side becomes an even more potent attack & one that can be maintained during a long day in the field

Tremain can crank it up if needed. Should be next cab off the rank. If I want a n express man.. Richardson foots the bill. I will leave Stanlake for limited overs. Have not seen sufficient from Meredith to say he is ready for Test cricket. How many FC games has he played DC? There was a bowler cupla years back.. Clayton Stephenson? He was impressive.. had a similar action and pace to Brett Lee. Where did he go. Didnt he play for Tassie too DC?

Yeah tail end runs matter and are important... The're a degree of laziness I suspect with Indian tail who have gotten used to Pandya at 7, Ashwin and Jdeja batting at 8 and as low at 9 - so these guys have shared 10 and 11 with complacency...
