+xIt’s funny to see what suckers people are sometimes… - Western United ask to play 7 games out of AAMI Park. - Victory and City say no. - Western United then announce they are playing 7 games out of Lakeside Stadium. - SMH lose their shit and vow to kick them out. - A week later, its announced Western United are playing 7 games out of AAMI Park. All these keyboard warriors criticising Western United fail to see that they got what they wanted in the end. In Greek we have a saying "It is better to be envied than to have people pity you" If this was Sourasis grand plan to play at AAMI and buy his consortium of shysters some time to build their shopping precinct then he succeeded, made himself look like a fool, but succeeded.

+x+xThe WMG bid was always about property development in Tarniet and had nothing to do with creating a football club. now that property prices have dropped and banks have tightened lending on property the financials probably dont stack up so teh chinese backers are gonski i can tell you as a fact that all the investors are australian, so this rumour is pure bullshit. probably made up by saltly South Melbourne or Team 11 fans. Still blaming us salty South Melbourne bitters for this? Seriously?

+x+xNot sure how the APL has allowed this anyways. A Western Melbourne/Victorian team playing in South Melbourne. We need to sort out club football in Australia. This is embarrassing. Yes, it is an embarassment. It would appear that WU made the announcement without talking to South Melbourne about it first. Sounds like amateur hour. Re geographic locations of clubs, exactly 3 years ago, during the bid process, I argued quite strongly on this forum that in relation to Melbourne, to view any club in terms of geography was a nonsense. And this is the proof. The team that was supposedly based between the outer Western fringes of Melbourne and Geelong, is now wanting to play games in inner-city South Melbourne, precisely where South Melbourne would have based itself if it had won the bid (which it deserved to do). Also playing in Geelong, Ballarat, tassie as well. They're also were trying to play games out of aami as well

+x+x+xMono is gonna have a brain aneurysm. Wu to play at lakeside according to joey lynch Hahahaha what a day to be alive...... Oh well, Hope the club was savvy enough to bleed these charlatans dry and get payment for each game upfront.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Lakeside state owned? South Melbourne are just tenants. SM wouldn't get any payments from WU playing there. Read what mono said. The 3 tenants have equal say and because the ground is football related . Smfc have final say and can tell wu to fuck off

The State Sport Centres Trust's strategic plan for Lakeside says:- - Lakeside Stadium to host ten non-athletics and non-SMFC events per annum, whilst maintaining events and training needs of these sports which take priority.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Regardless of everything Western United proving once again what an absolute joke of a club they have. Travelling from ground to ground like a bunch of fucking nomads & unable to find support or a long term lease in whatever their area is supposed to is a fucking administrative embarrassment. Not to mention they still haven't broke ground on any sort of stadium anywhere despite their recent announcement. So many other more deserving candidates for professional league status.

+xI’m really surprised they would look at lakeside. If South approached them and relations were good I’d understand, but considering they literally got the license ahead of South less than 3 years ago, then dumped sh1t on the club about geographic location and stadium surely they realised a few years on this would be a bad look? They will look like a laughing stock no matter which way this goes. South on the other hand as difficult as it is need to see the potential financial gains, if it’s something that can give the club a big financial windfall over summer it should be looked at, especially with the damage Covid has done to local football, I mean I’d be spitting on my hand before doing any handshake deals with them but if we can use them to our gain then it could be a fruitful venture. Like I said, if they pay to use the ground then sure Im all for it but am pleased with Nick and the board for sticking to their guns and showing a little pride in the face of how hostile these pricks where when they got the license over us... Treat them like the "pelates" that they are sure, why not make a few hundred thou plus food and bev from these frauds but make them beg for it first :) What I do love is how every other club in NPL land (and even some of the Aleague supporters I must admit) are jumping on board with us and say "well done South" ... Surprising to have praise from Australian Soccer for once :)

Oh well, Hope the club was savvy enough to bleed these charlatans dry and get payment for each game upfront.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Lakeside state owned? South Melbourne are just tenants. SM wouldn't get any payments from WU playing there. South Melbourne has a long term lease on it, so clearly, WU can only use it with South's blessing. I believe when we signed the latest 40 year lease 2 years ago this gives us control of all football related activities at the stadium and with only the National teams (Socceroos and Matildas) able to play/train there without our permission. Ofcourse, as a courtesy, I believe on the many occasions where both have trained at Lakeside the club has been notified in advanced and schedules consulted... All other clubs/teams that play on our magnificent pitch have to do so and I believe it is well within our lease agreement with Melbourne Sports Trust that we can charge these clubs to play if we want to. MV Women and I think Melb City Women frequently do and I am pleased they do to be honest, why not? Again, even though it looks like WU have AGAIN made absolute fools of themselves and we won't let them play at Lakeside and even the SMC have deleted their re-tweet of WU "official" announcement.

+xMay as well, I’ve always said not having any football at Lakeside over summer is a waste, our social club will get good use so we will get a win financially. Of course the question many will ask is if Lakeside was going to be an A league venue why not just have South in? It’s a bad look for WU and puts further question marks on that decision in December 2018. It just proves the whole “lakeside is too close to aami” argument was a load of crock. Its a great get for the SMFC the last 2 years would have put a dint in the pockets so chance to cash in as much as possible. Win win imo.
