Champness, Stensness and Dane Ingham have all been picked in NZ’s Olympic squad.
I’m also very shocked to see that Sarpreet Singh wasn’t picked.

I don't think it's mandated that clubs have to release players for the Olympics, so it might just be a case of Bayern telling NZ that he's not available. In theory, he should be headed out on a loan move to either a Bundesliga or 2.Bundesliga side, so him going to the Olympics could put a stop to that. I'm impressed by Stesness tbh, he could play himself into a move.

Matthew Bozinovski who plays for Victory’s youth team (and was on the bench for the first team on one occasion last season) just returned from a training camp with North Macedonia’s under 21 team and he played in a match against Slovenia.

Stefan Colakovski had apparently declared for Macedonia and will seemingly go straight into their senior team. https://twitter.com/macedonianfoot_/status/1422146846747762692?s=21

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xInteresting to see players from our lower leagues get called up for other nations. Maybe sides likes Lebanon and Thailand aren’t as good as we think they are. How good do we think they are? personally i think they are rubbish.....most ppl i know think 90-95% of the AFC teams are rubbish Most people you know ie you?? Afc nations are actually decent if you actually watch their games. Typical Euro snob thinking there. Hell you'll be the first one to say that Lichtenstein v san Marino will be good because they play in europe Lmao nup those two sides they are rubbish, there is a handful of rubbish sides in Europe too but most of them are small countries with a small talent pool and/or limited $$. But the 95% AFC is rubbish, even nations like China which has an expensive league, large population base and loads of $$$ is terrible. (but credit to China they are good at other sports) I got respect for S.K and Japan they are miles ahead of the pack, a few of the gulf nations can be hit and miss and atm we are pretty poor but would stil be one of the 'stronger' nations in the confed which says it all. I think India has potential to become a decent side but they are at least 10-20 years away. In the last Asian Cup, the Socceroos finished second in their group behind Jordan, scraped through the round of 16 against on pens after an " unconvincing ... toothless" 0-0 draw with Uzbekistan, and beaten in the quarter finals by the UAE. If, as you say, 95% of the AFC is rubbish, then we in our current state are absolutely shithouse. We need all the help we can get. this is why i steered clear from this forum for a while even ppl who have been following the sport for a long time are clueless about it. We are 'average ' but anyone there day can lost in a 'one off game' NZ in 2010 went to the world cup and didnt lose a game that doesnt mean they are a 'good' footballing nation. i'd probably go even harsher and say 97% is rubbish if you throw us into that category If you use A beats B and B beat C then C must be better then A logic in football you're an idiot. It is about long term consistently being at a good level. ie (having good structures) you expect Holland to always have a strong team even though they dont have a big league becuz of years of producing top talent. Japan and S.Korea are heading down that road no other team in Asia can say the same there are most nations in the AFC then another confed to have 2 nations that are good and everyone else rubbish means the confed is rubbish. Unlike otherconfeds there actually is a lot of money in the AFC so it must be structures of development from the member nations. Lol. You're claiming pala hasn't been following football for a long time? Dude he's been following football for longer than the hal has been in existence. Have you gone overseas for socceroos away games in far flung countries like he has? Has gone to away acl games as well? No wonder noone takes you seriously when all you is rant about your holier than thou attitude Quite the opposite im claiming he has been following the sport for a long time but still has some stupid arguments on it....like the post he replied too, was a dumb response But i dont expect much from these forums anymore of the 'fans' are pretty clueless Most fans get protective over the AFC even though it is mostly 'shit' they cant seem to call a spade a spade. I think this is one of the biggest issue in Australian football, people dont want to face the facts. Joining the AFC has been terrible for Australian football, objectively speaking and anyone who disagrees is clueless, yes i accept the argument it is 'more' competitive but the issue is that competition has made exposure difficult at all level bar the senior side. Thus U/20 dont make world cups etc. Football is all about exposure and 'hype' there are millions of players out there and 1000s of players undiscovered that could be world class making the exposure 10 times harder to get for a 'few extra' competitive Socceroos fixtures has been a disaster. If you read any biography players will say they grew up playing with kids that were 'better' then them but either had the wrong mentality, got injuried or simply never got the luck break signing possibly due to timing and usually due to a lack of exposure. If you think im wrong just look at NZ national team - they have a population of <5m, Football is less popular in NZ then it is in Australia they have less financial capabilities, they only have 1 professional team but but they have more top players then we do atm and they are in the OFC a confederation where every team is hopeless but they get exposure going to WCs and Olympics with U20, U23 etc. Thus once again calling a spade a spade, being part of the AFC is the biggest mistake the FFA has made. I dont blame them bcuz at the time it seemed like a good idea. But its been 15 years and we are still 'outsiders' in our own confederation with Qatar getting a world cup and a lack of real support for our bid in the 2022 WC shows it was a mistake to leave the OFC. If this FFA has any brains it would abandon the AFC and build a OFC league out of the A-L have a side from each member of the confederation. Turn the A-L into the OFC league it would make the league international it would help the region and at the same time make us the 'power' brokers for football in the region, opposed to being a outsiders no one likes in the AFC. New Zealand might have some good players but in fifa ranking they r number 120 in the world we are 35 in fifa. Being in OFC means they don't have any competitive games only international friendly. No point of going back to OFC. AFC is much tougher and if U follow Asian football it wasn't only Japan and South Korea. There r Iran who is just as strong they always beat south Korea. There r Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Uzbekistan and even China with a few Brazilians in their national team can't be underestimated. Qatar (Asian cup champion) just reached to semi final in CONCACAF Gold cup only narrowly lost to USA n they played amazingly. Just because we don't have world class players got nothing to do with joining AFC. The more competitive the better. Since we joined AFC we never fail to qualify for the world cup so don't know what Ur on about. One thing I know for sure if we stay at OFC no way we will qualify. New Zealand failed to qualify the last 2 times n not even close of qualifying. When they qualified in 2010 they were just lucky to face Bahrain in the play off n even that they were outplayed by Bahrain. To say 95% of Asian teams r rubbish just shows U know nothing about Asian football. What U think we r Brazil?

+xDykes scored a tap in on the goal line to give Scotland a 1-0 win over Moldova. Wow he scored a worldie against the might of Moldova. Scotland really put the 175th ranked team in world football to the sword! Imagine if the Socceroos only beat Moldova 1-0 - the knives would be out for Arnie & the team would be called the worst Socceroos team in history!!! But I'm sure Dykes is enjoying the "harder" option to qualify for the world cup

Fiji looking to cap Dan Hall from Central Coast Mariners Roy Krishna, who plays with ATK Mohun Bagan in India, Canada-based Nicholas Prasad and Scott Wara, who resides in England, are three of those on top of the list. The parent body is also trying to rope in Zachary Verhoven, who plays for Atletico Ottawa in the Canadian Premier League and Daniel Hall, who represents Central Coast Mariners in the A-League in Australia. Both players have links to Fiji.
https://www.fijitimes.com/fiji-fa-targets-five-overseas-based-fijians-for-fifa-world-cup-bid/
Apparently they are struggling to get him a passport though, appears that Dan was adopted at an early age by an Australian family and the Fijian FA dont know who his birth mother is.

+x20 year old Yahya El Hindi was called up for Lebanon’s senior team and made his debut recently. He was cut from Sydney Olympic, dropped into NPL 2 and then signed for Nejmeh in Lebanon. Brisbane Strikers under 20 defender Zach Binrong was called up for the Thai under 18 side. Good luck to them both. Went to sign for Xanthi but pulled out of the move after the stuff about Papas came out. Still a free agent. https://www.ftbl.com.au/news/aussie-left-in-limbo-after-dream-european-move-collapses-569384
