Not sure why people are surprised. This was always going to be the case this season. The independence hasn't even been properly finalised yet. There are still things being sorted out in the background. Ownership of IP being one of them as this still has not been transferred to the clubs. Next season is where we should see some proper changes.

+xSo how many days is it now til season start? The owners "100 day blueprint to kickstart competition's renewal" What an absolute joke... Not that I think there’s much mileage in agreeing with you but in this instance, I think you’re right. If they had “100 days” it looks like they’re leaving it until the last week before doing anything which quite frankly will either be too little, too late or (if they have stuff lined up) too much of a sugar hit in one go to make a difference.

+x+x+xA question for the accounting bods on here. Will the new A-League ownership entity that will run the competition be able to register as a not for profit company limited by guarantee or will it be a taxable entity like the clubs? I assume a taxable entity... as it has members and shareholders... my guess it will be run as a trust not a company ... ”FFA will retain a 20%, non-diluting and non-voting, ‘carry’ equity share in the League. Importantly, if a portion of the Leagues are ever sold in order to generate investment funds for further growth of the League then 20% of those proceeds would be allocated to FFA for investment in accordance with FFA’s objects.” https://www.footballvictoria.com.au/news/new-leagues-working-group-nlwg-reaches-principle-agreement-recommendations-a-new-era-footballit will not be nonprofit. I don't think the NFP status is as simple as ensuring the capital proceeds are linked to the FFA objects.

+x+xHave they worked out the funding model yet? There were a few areas still to be decided, so who knows how things are playing out. Lets hope they get a good advertising strategy in place very soon. There is no need to hold off advertising until after the AFL and NRL seasons which seemed to be the way the FFA focused their attention. Get traction and excitement out there in the market and then build up in the weeks leading up to the season. why can't the clubs start marketing? nothing is happening On the Coast the Mariners have started very meaningful discussions with our local association... Some really interesting stuff as well ... like we are playing the FFA Cup in an old CC Association shirt... lots of players at finals etc... One so far one but two more planned before the season kickoff [BTW broadcast on youtube for those who cannot attend] community forums, where CEO, Directors, Coach explain the direction, seek ideas, etc... CEO has his own thread on the fans forum where he answers questions and reads comments by fans ... Links on the shirt ... youtube is excellent IMO .... attempting to tie the Mariners to the history of our association... Web https://www.ccmariners.com.au/news/mariners-launch-coasties-inspired-ffa-cup-kitYoutube https://www.ccmariners.com.au/video/coast-mariners-launch-coasties-inspired-ffa-cup-kitConnecting with the association... https://www.ccmariners.com.au/news/mariners-partner-ccf-central-coast-finals-series

+x+xHas there been any talk about increasing the number of bench spots like Kurz was talking about last year? Yes. +2 for U23 players. Happy with that. 5 is way too restrictive.

+x+x+x+x“Regarding expansion we’re going to do our own research and identify the areas that need to grow rather than just going out and getting people to waste their time and money with a series of bids,” Fong added.Translation - 'we'll be inviting franchises so forget about anything based on merit'. Massive fuck off slap in the face for the new dawners. They do that and add another NZ team and the A-league will be dead to me. Also means P & R = Never Yep, that's how I read it too. P/R shouldn't be a matter for IndiA. It is a matter for the organisation that is responsible for all football, the FFA. It is. It’s also enshrined within FIFA as well. The Independent A League has a position on pro/rel already (it’s in their current participation agreements for a start) and they don’t need to go beyond that because there is nothing to promote from or relegate too at this time.
