+x+xVery poor attendance imo. Was it 3-4 years ago Victory had over 20k in Geelong. Now collectively they only just get 10k with a Western/Geelong based side and Victory on a warm Sunday with 4pm kick off so families get home. So what’s the excuse for this one? Probably another case of the glass being half full or half empty. I think it's WU's first attendance over 10k, so we have to accept that as a good thing. But yeh, it's not great, then again, what are we expecting from this club? I would have though: not a lot. Might be years before we know how good they can be on and off the field. Do we expect more from MV? They use to get huge crowds playing in Geelong against the likes of Perth a few years ago.

+xIt looked a lot more on TV. The benefit of having the crowd facing the camera side. Perception is everything and I felt though not ideal it looked a lot better than Westpac.

+xI think today will be the truest test of the interest in WU Will be interesting to see whether there is a decent turnout, or the attendance is not bad considering Someone I know from Geelong offered me 4 free tickets... PAX of 16k as of yesterday supposedly, reckon it will be a decent crowd - although the majority will be in navy blue.

+xNot bad, I thought they sounded quite loud on the TV, good game to watch for the neutral too. The locals are a bit disappointed with that number.

35 minutes agoThe attendance has been announced and it's a very poor 8851. Should have played the game in Wellington.

+x+x+x+x+x+xNot bad considering it was a Friday night, with weather, and City was playing Don’t forget Christmas shopping! It's a genuine issue at this time of year. It is, but I mean if you really wanted to be there you could go to the game and do your Christmas shopping today, or tomorrow, or next week. The more likely thing that would stop attendance is work Christmas parties but they don't make the difference between a long term average attendance over 9k and a 6.7k attendance. City fans are Xmas shopping on Friday 6 Dec ? They were also Christmas shopping 20 Oct, 3 Nov and 8 Nov

+x+x+xCITY VS adelaide 8k (hopefully) wellington vs wsw 20k (eden park) sydney vs brisbane 12k wu vs victory 10k (4:00 is not a bad time and it's first victory away game) adelaide vs newcastle 8k (crap timeslot but adelaide should be doing better) I'm sure there will be over 10,000 this week, but 4pm on sunday is still a shit time when you have to travel to Geelong. If you get the VLine home, and then a connnecting train from the city, you're not getting home til 8-8:30pm. Derbies in Victoria should be on Saturday. +xthe club sent out letters offering premium seats to previous members that have not been to a game this season so at least they are trying! if they were really trying, they would be selling GA memberships for $180 instead of $280. And lets not forget how they're gouging Victory fans at the Xmas derby. Victory are guilty of this as well. $29 GA for home games, but we have had 2 for 1 offers leading up to every home game. Why not start at these prices to begin with? Try 6pm on a Sunday for that fixture against Western United. I was surprised with the amount of City supporters who actually went to that game. The scheduling this season is really confusing and stupid at times. I agree, all Victorian derbies should be on a Saturday (if involving Western United) or Friday (just for Victory and City). I also agree with the pricing of memberships. More so for City, they really should take the prices down if they want to try increasing the numbers, but yeah even clubs like Victory too. No club is in the position where the game is always sold out or the stadium full, so I don't understand why they don't try changing prices to try bringing attendance up. Ewww fuck that, no one wants to be rushing from work to make a derby or any other rivalry game.

+xI was reading wiki's list of record home attendances of English football clubs just now and it might surprise a few Eurosnobs how well Australian teams compare. Victory would top this list with our 95k friendly with Liverpool. Even only counting A-League matches, Wanderer's record of 61,880 is only twenty-five people short of Liverpool's all time record set in 1952, and higher than ten current EPL teams' records, while Victory and even Roar have a higher record than eight current EPL sides. What makes it even more impressive is that a lot of the English clubs' records were from back in the old days when they could pack people in like sardines, I'm sure a post Taylor Report list of records would be even more impressive reading for Australian clubs. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_record_home_attendances_of_English_football_clubs Consistency is key. It's exactly what we don't have.

+x+xTry 6pm on a Sunday for that fixture against Western United. I was surprised with the amount of City supporters who actually went to that game. No club is in the position where the game is always sold out or the stadium full, so I don't understand why they don't try changing prices to try bringing attendance up. ticketing is a massive issue in the league. I harp on it all the time. I saw an ad on facebook earlier today promoting $15 BBL tickets. We can and must do better. some people claim that the ticketing prices are set by the governing body (whoever that is these days). i call bullshit on that. If Victory can offer 2 for 1 and City can charge $55 in the away end for a derby, then its clear the clubs are responsible for setting the prices. As for match scheduling, I get that TV deserves to have some say as they help pay the bills, but there needs to be more common sense. it makes more sense to have 6pm sunday games in Brisbane or Perth. And if you have a cricket test on in adelaide, don't give AU a home game that weekend. and FFS, don't have all 3 VIC teams play at home on the same weekend. Can’t disagree with you there. Everyone earns different coin and has differing opinions on what is a fair price to buy a ticket. But if people who like the sport, like the clubs and can’t justify paying $30 + for a GA ticket then what hope do you have of reaching out to neatrals and getting them into the game. HAL are too hit and miss with quality and value of games to spend more than $25 for an adult ticket imo.
