DETROIT (AP) — President Donald Trump is falsely asserting how quickly automakers including GM, Ford and Tesla can manufacture ventilators to help fill an acute U.S. shortage of the medical equipment for coronavirus patients.

Ford and GM have yet to start production, and it would take them months, if not longer, to begin production, if it’s even possible.

A look at the claim:

TRUMP: “Ford, General Motors and Tesla are being given the go ahead to make ventilators and other metal products, FAST! @fema Go for it auto execs, lets see how good you are?” — tweet Sunday.

at least he is consistently a piece of shit.  until the virus hit i thought that trump had no chance of losing the next election. the fact that it will plow through his heartland the hardest will possibly cost him the election. the level of alt right fantasy is astounding in its normalcy in the republican dialogue - through supporters, politicians, news. people are just openly denying the virus issue exists.  you have republican politicians saying the economic costs out way the deaths and that there should be no shut down.

the biggest danger comes when trump loses the election and refuses to accept the outcome. i did not think this was a risk before because he was not going to lose. but now he possibly will, and his supporters think it's been caused by a democratic inflicted virus hoax and shutdown, and they will jump on trump refusing the outcome.  big call but i can see militia outbreaks and the leanings of a civil war incoming.

Yes it originated there but to call it the Chinese virus instead of covid19 is just another way to sidestep his lack of planning . For two weeks he called it fake news.  America is so far behind testing.  He also wanted to buy a cure from Germany and wanted it only for America.

No he did not call it fake news.

He under-estimated the impact it could have perhaps, much like France, Spain, Italy, Germany and just about most other countries.

But what is worse is the Wuhan Health Organisation also being very slow to act and only calling it a pandemic 2 weeks after ScoMo.

And they are suppose to be the experts responsible for issuing the right warnings and messaging.

'What makes anyone  think that conservatives are against bailouts and stimulus?'

Why you Rusty.  You.

BTW I thought socialism was bad?  You know the redistribution of money for the betterment of society.

This has nothing to do with Socialism. This is about survival in a war.

And if it wasn’t for the last 7 years of conservative governments.m, there would be little capability to do what we are doing today as our debt would be higher.

Conservatives are better at saving money for a rainy day and much better at dealing with crisis like this.

On 6 March, a group of epidemiologists at Imperial College London gave the White House coronavirus taskforce a heads-up about the terrifying projections for the disease they were about to publish relating to the US.

The Imperial scientists’ findings would have induced paralytic fear in all but the most nonchalant American. They likened Covid-19, which by that point had already extended its tentacles into at least 28 states in the US, to the 1918 influenza pandemic that killed 50 million people around the globe.

On the basis of their modelling, they calculated that if nothing was done to halt the spread of the disease, within weeks it would infect 81% of the US population. The virus would ravage the nation, eviscerate its health system and – here came the sting – put 2.2 million Americans into body bags.

South Korea and the US had their first confirmed case on the same day.  Dwell on that for a minute.

Watch the clip.  Here's a Doctor that won't be invited back on Fox for a long time after he rebuffs the hosts parroting of Trump's talking points.  From 2.20m on it turns horrible for the host.

https://video.foxnews.com/v/6146422347001#sp=show-clips

Hundreds of thousand will die in the US due to that clown downplaying this thing for literally months.

How did the Wuhan Health Organisation go with a heads up?

Did they, as the global authority on epidemiology give a heads up? No! I thought so.

You got to wonder when they were beaten by Australia.

I don't think Australia was the very first. It was the first country to officially call this a pandemic and they activated their emergency response plan as a result.

Other countries didn't verbally announce it like Australia, but I think there were some countries that acted very quickly and swiftly - like South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore. So we have to say they are probably first, then Australia.

Wuhan Health Organisation lagged behind, really didn't do their job properly and probably have a lot to answer for. They also seem to be a mouthpiece for the CCP. Why? Who knows....maybe they been bought out by China and need to appeaser their Muppet Master.

Speaking of thick...when did Wuhan Health Organisation declare China Virus a pandemic?

All world leaders can do is listen to the world leading global authority on the subject.

Was it March 11th or not? 2 weeks after our illustrious Scott Morrison.

Ok let me explain. The USA declared an emergency 3 days before WHO.

Australia activated their COVID 19 Emergency Tesponse 2 weeks before WHO.

Countries like Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan activated earlier than Australia. Reason for that is they were better prepared than anyone because they have experienced this before. In addition, authoritarian States are better able to respond than liberal States like the US, EU States and Australia.
