Who would have thought the Greeks would have smashed Briton out of the park regards the virus.  https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/10/greeks-marvel-at-britains-covid-chaos-as-their-lockdown-lifts-after-150-deaths

150 deaths in Greece, 31 000 in the UK.

How Boris is getting away with almost zero scrutiny is mind boggling.

30 k out of 12 million over 65 , not worth worrying about until it reaches a million.

PC has and had nothing to do with it

The UK's approach initially went with 'herd immunity' then when it was clear that was going to be a disaster shut everything down.

herd immunity it is the only way, just ask the vets how they dealt with outbreaks of foot and mouth etc.
there is no vaccine and its best to assume there will never be and work from that ie shield the old and vulnerable normal life for rest of population

What?!  You'd take 30000 deaths over 150 because...why?

Yeah. He probably doesn't have the virus but the optics are bad because of how he coughs into his hand and how they're telling anyone with flu symptoms to stay home.

Not to be that guy, but if people pinpointing blame at China for coronavirus is considered racist, which seems to be a semi-communally agreed notion.. is China blocking out nations asking for an independent enquiry not also as if not more racist?

For some reason I feel like having a rant, but more of a positive reflection of what's happened since the initial wave of dimwits bought enough toilet paper for 20 years. The lockdowns have given us more time to reflect on important things, and I'm seeing many people awakening from the matrix and questioning their lives, at least for a few weeks. That's to be expected when people are no longer living frantic consumerist lives, needing to be constantly entertained and competing with the joneses on meaningless, trivial things. Self-reflection is positive (as long as it's not paralysing), and allows us to appreciate simple things.

It's beautiful to see so many people, especially families, walking everywhere the last few weeks. Lots more people are giving eye contact, smiling and even saying hello while I'm out on my lunch time walk. There's the odd low-energy Karen type that avoids people like the plague, but they're not worthy of my energy.

My family has become closer and most of my friends are reporting similar closer ties within their families. More of my friends and acquaintances have also recently decided to avoid the news and MSM, and feeling much happier for it. I quit MSM about 5 years ago and never felt happier. That shit is designed to make us fearful, anxious, depressed and to rely more on big pharma and the medical (sickness) industry. MSM is a tool of sick, evil people that want to divide us along political, economic and social lines, making us feel inadequate and dissatisfied with life.

Stay positive, avoid the media, develop a healthier lifestyle and boost your immune system with vitamins and minerals such as D3, zinc, magnesium and Vitamin C. Meditation and laughter also help. This probably sounds like new age hippie BS, but I'm hoping the COVID-19 lockdowns lead to more people taking on some positive changes in their lives and raising their consciousness. More people are deciding to save money, and travel only locally. Not that we have much choice in the near future of course, but we live in an amazing country and tend to forget it sometimes.

My main fear is that people will return to the matrix once lockdowns are fully lifted, but even if only 5% implement these new changes it's a positive paradigm shift.

Not sure I 100% understand what you're saying but they're not being racist they're just being giant bullies.

It's not only us.  They've stopped importing bananas from the Philippines because of some perceived slight.

And they're stitching us up over government funded water infrastructure as some justification for the tariffs on barley.  But here's the thing barley growers don't use irrigation so it's nothing more than a bullshit excuse.

It'd be fantastic if we had other markets for iron ore and could tell them to fuck right off.

Criticising China's authoritarian system of governance and their insistence on covering up anything that reflects badly on them isn't even remotely racist. The only people who are saying that is racist are attempting to stifle debate, ie China and Billionaire sellouts like Twiggy Forrest.

How great would it be if every single country on Earth announced their own investigation?

China isn't being racist because they are blocking out all nations. They discriminate against everyone!

As for blaming China for the coronavirus being racist, that depends on what is said and context.

Also agree that people will be assessing what is really "essential" in their lives and becoming more self sufficient.

That's an excellent post, hopefully it'll be more than 5% but even if it is that amount it is still better than nothing.

Then again 5% nationwide or even globally is still a very big number which would be great.

I feel along these lines. What drives me nuts are many who preach about the evil of MSM and consumerism have a hyper relationship with those items by purchasing from all the big 'evil' chains and constantly sharing and referring to MSM sources. They're rabid in their purchasing from big firms while shrieking people must support their local businesses.

I very much hope people vote with their feet and shun the companies that have behaved poorly. While a person may purchase Adidas shoes, will they do it at a local retailer instead of their official store which now pays store rent only due to massive criticism? For me the size of the organisation isn't a deciding factor. It's more the absolute rip offs they've been getting away with for too long. There have been many people and independent stores making face masks and disinfectant either for free or at a reasonable price.

I'm not optimistic about German health workers seeing better pay and conditions. Nursing and Aged care is absolutely horrid. The supermarket workers can forget any kind of permanent boost to their wages. The oversupply of cheap labour just keeps it down. On the positive side supermarkets are now better staffed meaning shorter queues. Germany is famous for massive queues and slow self packing and no self service check outs.

Technology will hopefully remain a permanent fixture and not require workers to always go in on a Friday. Less traffic, less of a hurry and a little more freedom should pay dividends. I hope in my case those scorching summer classrooms can be avoided for solid, efficient online classes. The one issue I take is I don't want things to become too virtual. We still need that personal contact.

I wonder how long it will be before the 'old ways' come back? I hope people don't stand for it and we see industrial action and calling for improvement to employment and living standards.

Moron works for almost two weeks in aged care home in Rockhampton while sick, later diagnosed with covid 19.  This is why we will never eradicate this virus, too many selfish ignorant halfwits out there ready to undo any progress we collectively make.  Employers should responsible for monitoring the health of workers and employees who work while sick, even with a sore throat or the sniffles, should be jailed.  Only way to get the message through.

Not sure why people are working while sick now. The whole point of this exercise is to reduce all risk so hospital resources are not used up. Even if any symptoms, just stay home and take sick leave.

Because sadly depsite this pandemic.  A lot of companies and bosses still look down on those who take sick leave .

One of my biggest surprises while traveling was seeing how inefficient German supermarkets were. After decades hearing about German efficiency, this took me off guard!

I agree with you on using technology more in future, but it should definitely be a balanced approach. My employer has strongly encouraged us to work from home the last 6 weeks, so it'll be interesting to see if more employers continue down this path after seeing the benefits of not having to waste time and mental energy commuting every day. I love waking up and doing an hour or two of work before 9am. As you say, a balanced approach post-lockdowns would be perfect, perhaps 3 days in the office and two at home would give everyone that balance between efficiency and socialisation.

What?!  You'd take 30000 deaths over 150 because...why?

today the govt reckons 19 million people have had coronona in uk

so 30000 divided by 19000000 equals 0.00157894736  which is less than season flu deaths
the uk hs 600 000 deaths per annnum naturally
mainstream media overhype and media driven pollies have caused the hysteria and ruined the economy for many decades to come
finally today PM to focus on obesity as this is the major underlying issue that gets avoided with poor health of uk , second to the united states hence the higher deaths in these countries

more than quarter of deaths in uk hospitals had diabetes, a poor lifestyle choice caused by obesity in the main.

20% of hospital deaths were due to the patient going into hosptial for another procedure and catching covid whilst in hospital and going out in a box.

Because sadly depsite this pandemic.  A lot of companies and bosses still look down on those who take sick leave .

Well, they're morons. If you're sick and you get the rest of your team sick, you're screwing up the business even more. Even if staff aren't sick and need a mental health day, that should be alright. A motivated team is more functional than one that is just clocking in and out.

Oh i agree.  I work for a company that has employees health and well-being at heart  you're sick you go home.  You have more than 4 weeks of annual leave .Youre forced to take them.
