I guess the PFA has got to so something. But considering the HAL could be history now ,this seems an exercise in futility and stupidity.
If half the owners no longer have the money to lose, then just like many businesses some teams  wont survive .
PG,AU,CCM,NJ ,WU and BR surely would all be under a dark cloud.
It wouldnt surprise me if there is no Football here for 1 year, while FFA/New Independent Co try to establish a new competition.

I read a stat that 1 million Aussies (or 10% of the work force) either had or were going to lose their job as a result of the stage 2 lockdowns. This would have no doubt gotten worse due to stage 3, plus whatever is around the corner given we cant go 2 days without a major action

Its hard to feel sorry for people who earn a game what the average household would earn a year

The PFA need some perspective. Sports were exempt from the lockdowns provided they played behind closed doors which they could have done given their main source of income is advertising and TV deals instead of gate keepings. Don't forget, the virus isnt even wide spread. Sports decided to close down in the interests of "public safety" and in their wake put an axe to the sports market, gambling market and advertising market

There is no sense in clubs paying players out of imaginary funds

If sports pick up again players will be a valuable commodity and can negotiate wages. The lost income would be moot to any player who had a good savings plan. If they don't pick up then players can stack boxes in Woolworths

Collective action?  Does that mean they're going on strike?

Dunno what the PFA is complaining about.  Double the dole or $750 per week is more than fair value for the players.
