+xNice one. My favourite Man City player. City have had both Danny Tiatto and Simon Colosimo play for them, but Danny is your favourite? Shame.

Great player Colosimo, but I have some happy memories of a fleeting golden age when Victory were pulling 50k crowds and scaring the shit out the AFL, and Allsopp was of course our number 9 back then.

+x+xNice one. My favourite Man City player. What was he like at man city can’t find much information on his run there. He never really played for Man City. Came off the bench in 1 game for a whopping total of 15 mins. He was one of those players that was continually loaned out to League One clubs. He played most of his games at Hull City and Notts County.

He played the majority of the 98-99 season for City with 29 league appearances scoring six goals helping them achieve promotion, and yes, he only played eight games the next season and only had one EPL appearance for City, but that's one more than Mooy ever had.

No Aami park though When we could fill Docklands, that wasn't really an issue. Even better once the seats were in. Those days were electric, it felt like football was about to take over Austalia and Victory was about to take over the world. Shame about the following 15 years of Australian football administration working directly against those scenes being sustained or repeated.

Pretty sad when we look back at what was and what could have been. Can’t see the game in Australia ever getting back to those early years.

I vividly recall being at a MV vs SFC game at Docklands and I can't disagree with any of this.

Who am I?
Built a bit of managerial experience.
Got more goals than caps.
Played overseas but too early to be mentioned on Aussies abroad thread.
Would perhaps feature more for current national team squad due to not having to compete with a golden generation.

Who am I?
Has represented Australia.
Has played more than 50 games for his home town AL club, and has not played for any other AL club.
Has played in more than 10 ACL games.
Still playing NPL in his home town.

The person in question also had an unsuccessful trial with a German club, but has never played professionally for a non-Australian club.

Dean Heffernan almost fits the bill, but I know he’s played for multiple AL clubs.

+xDean Heffernan almost fits the bill, but I know he’s played for multiple AL clubs. It is not Dean Heffernan. This guy is a one-club man professionally. He hasn't even played for an NPL club outside of his home town.

Incorrect. My guy has not played for any professional team apart from his one AL club. Coe played abroad professionally.

+xMatthew Kemp, ex-Victory? No. I'm enjoying your thinking though. Kemp was born in Canberra but played for Victory, and seemingly bases himself in Adelaide judging by his wiki. Kemp also played a season in Italy. My guy has done everything locally to where he came from.

+x+xIn that case it’s Fabian Barbiero 😎 Interesting, thanks. Amazing that he was considered good enough for Australia, yet effectively out of the professional game at only 29.

I also found this article from after Adelaide decided not to renew his contract where he openly stated his intentions to return to the game professionally too. I'm not sure if he has even trialled with any AL clubs between his release and now though. https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/sport/former-adelaide-united-midfielder-fabian-barbiero-signs-for-sa-premier-league-club-metrostars/news-story/e8c637e8b8dad5b246fe994d1e9969e5?sv=fdb398b4f992dbdc094210a4225517d6&fbclid=IwAR3AWfhw6AtzMdvqHm1CvsCaHC-8NqgaXPEjdGodEdadeSqWSWXSXwVHTPwI also found it interesting that his NT debut, even though it was "only" an AFC Cup qualifying game, he debuted alongside Daniel Mullen, Robbie Cornthwaite (both ADL teammates) and Mitch Nichols - none of the four earned more than 10 NT caps each. Mullen and Barbiero only played that one game.
