So, I’m a casual observer.

Can’t find any information on google. When does the a league start again?

What are we waiting for?

Does anyone know what the issue is?

I read somewhere that the FFA and the players had agreed to finish the season at a hub. The season is almost over... it’s not like they have to play out the whole season.

Obviously the issue is with the broadcaster Fox. Does anyone know how close they are to agreeing for a deal? Or is the end of the mighty a-league?

The problems with Foxtel have to be sorted out.
Then
1. The Nix haven't yet got approval to come to Aust.
2. Then they need a 14 quarantine before training commences
3. Minimum 28 days team training.
4. We play!

Thoughts were on a July 18 start time, but given the time lags above, that is now not possible. Late July seems to be the earliest we can get going.

Hooper said he was going to come back to Wellington to start training before the squad returned to Australia, to make that worthwhile you'd think it's at least a month before the nix make the trip to Australia. Of course plans change but getting Hooper and Davila back is going to be a challenge.

I’m thinking if we don’t have a announcement by end of next week it will be canned .
Fox seem to be playing hardball in regards to finding time slots for the remaining games , hopefully FFA can sue the arse of them.

They both have reached agreement with the broadcaster. The FFA hasn't. I suspect it is a Fox tactic to apply pressure to the FFA. Agree to our terms ongoing or we won't honour the next three years.

The FFA has the money for this year. They should just say this is when we are playing, we are making available the content, if you don't broadcast it is you who are in breach.

Naah, calm down, apparently it is all under control. The FFA are just playing it smart and the NRL and AFL have no idea what they’re doing.

NRL was even dreaming about having spectators at matches, imagine that! The whole football community should be proud that FFA and iAL are doing the sensible low risk thing

Just make Wellington the hub and get Sky to broadcast it to FOX. Rumors are there will be no crowd restrictions in New Zealand from next week, a sold out Nix vs Sydney grand final in Wellington will do wonders for the FFAs bank balance.

Midnight NZ time - Full Stadium crouds for all sports stadiums.  Just need to get the Anzac bubble sorted for NZ Hubs now.

i know that rugby union got screwed over by foxtel and i read that they are organising their new australian 'league/tournament', does anybody know if they have found a broadcaster for that? they looked in huge trouble.
im not a rugby fan, but the similarities with our sports and foxtel dealings are informative.

NRL planning to have full stadiums crowd wise commencing August 1....yet we won’t even be re-commencing the season and we could be playing a in a hub with zero crowds after that date, shambles. Guarantee AFL will have fans by then to. I try to defend the FFA in most cases, but really disappointed by how they are handling the situation. August is still 7 weeks away, madness. Should have told all foreigners to return few weeks backs.

Well if they time the end to the season right, they might not have to play in closed stadiums using the far more expensive hub system and they might be able to have crowds attend all the remaining season matches in their own state and possibly their normal home grounds or cheaper venues, with the right timing they could also be playing final matches with huge crowds.

Where has that been reported?

I know someone in the coaching staff there. He says they don’t think it’s likely we will be back anytime soon.
Once all the dust settles, the a league will still exist but in a different form. Heaps of pay cuts etc
