James Johnson has said we should be thinking more globally in terms of player development and in transfers within the global system. Thus we can benefit from the whole ecosystem. Should we go down that path or keep looking to overseas players to provide the 'sugar hit' to keep the fans happy.

It has to be a mix of local and global focus. There are opportunities on both fronts.

To embed a successful framework, we really have to get our development pathways right locally though, giving all clubs the incentive to increase their revenue streams To boost the game as a whole.

I look at a country like Japan who started their pro league in 1992 and whilst they focused on making their league attractive for fans with the use of marquee players and focusing the Brazilian market for foreign players they also focused a commitment to youth development from top to bottom.

Whilst the FFA only focused on making the league attractive with marquee players whilst trying to create a tribal experience it worked to some extent and failed as well.

But unlike Japan the FFA took their eye of the ball for the future of the game and its no coivendence their have a stronger national team than us at almost every level.

If its about not repeating mistakes they got to focus on football development, otherwise the game will asking these sort of questions again in the next 15 years.

Develop better players = Develop better teams = Develop better leagues = Develop Better National Teams

All on this should be capitalised through the revenue streams it makes and feeding it off down the pyramid, whilst building a better reputation internationally through its players, clubs and national teams.

Let's align with the AFC and bring in the the 3+1.
This should be a period where more youngsters get game time, more opportunity to earn transfer fees.

The disincentives for long term player contracts in the current system has been counterproductive for player development. The PFA need to acknowledge this and change their attitude at least a little.

I like your comments. However JJ should stop the thinking and commence the process to execute it. The new FFA had almost 2 years to form a revised path but nothing so far.
