This is good and bad. On the one hand it's great to see npl players being rewarded however what sort of compensation are Marconi receiving. I'm pretty sure it's better then what it used to be however their should be proper transfer fees eventually moving forward

If those players were being charged by Marconi to play, then they shouldn’t receive a transfer fee or compensation of any sort.

EDIT: The 481st reason why their needs to be a better training compo or a proper transfer system in this country. Again why should NPL invest in youth if their is little return? Marconi have a great academy that should get recognition.

If these players are on a contract, then they can’t leave without agreement of the club (normally obtained via a transfer fee).
If they’re not on a contract, then they’re free to leave and Marconi don’t deserve a transfer fee.
If they’re kids - then delete this farkin thread already.

If the players were paying exorbitant fees then the clubs shouldn't get any transfer money. At that stage, the players are paying customers rather than products. Hopefully an improved transfer system though will mean that clubs don't need to charge such fees as they make them back and then some with transfers.

Sounds like a good problem to have.
Hopefully the domestic transfer market will be up and running asap, but I think some people might be a bit disappointed in how much these transfer fees will be worth when dictated by market forces. We're a small pond.

No club should be able to hold any player to any contract at all if the money is flowing from player to club and not the other way around.

It’s pretty typical that around those age groups the best players at NPL clubs get scouted and recruited by WSW and SFC. those clubs offer the opportunity to play 1 or 2 age groups up, get more training, better coaching, better facilities and a clear pathway to professional football.

Yeah I get that, also I believe that Wanderers NPL program is free or there about... not sure of Sydney's though? Just asking what happens to the kids already in the A-league academies that are being replaced. In general though, well done to the franchises that are finally working towards improving their clubs overall, I really wish that the FFA can ease up on the exorbitant requirements it places on the NPL clubs so that they too can have a chance of establishing better/cheaper more efficient practices. Instead of shuffling these kids around wouldn't it be better for them (and us as a nation) to have another 100+ plus academies offering the same pathways?

A-League teams don't need to pay anything to any domestic club unless they were of a professional contract (this is me going off memory so you should fact check me) and then the A-League club only needs to pay the domestic club $3,000 compensation. If these players are going to be playing in the youth system for the A-League club then it sounds like the state federation has fucked up by not putting restrictions on the number of players that can move from one club to another. In SA you are not meant to be able to take an entire team from another club...
